Beautiful venue with helpful staff who was patient!
Cindy, Event Coordinator, and James, Events Manager, were incredible. They totally contributed to the successful of our wedding. Our wedding day was memorable, beautiful, and well coordinated.
We did not have our reception at Kemper, but did use the chapel for our ceremony. It was perfect for us! We loved the old feel and needed very minimal decoration since it has so much character.
The Kemper Center is a beautiful venue and the lady who we worked with at first was great, but about a month in she quit and we started working with Cindy. Cindy is very nice and a great lady, but she's not very good at being organised and knowing what's going on, which is a very important part. She billed me for the wrong things a few times and I had to send it back to her to fix, which wasn't too terrible but a bit of a pain. Also she said that on the day of the wedding she'd have someone be there at 10am to let us in and, low and behold we got there at 10 and no one was there or anywhere to be found and the door was very much still locked so we spent over half an hour trying to get a hold of her. or anyone there really. before we could finally get in, but her not answering her phone at all really didn't help much either; we had to wait until we ran into someone else who works there. That 37 minute delay we had almost caused me to be late to my own wedding ceremony. She also was very bad about responding to emails and calls in a timely manner if at all. In the end everything that needed to get done got done and everything turned out fine, but the process of getting to that point was anything but seamless. And again, Cindy is very nice and overall a great person, she just lacks most of the skills required to be good with planning things for weddings (those being organization, good record keeping, and timeliness). The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, I would probably still pick it again if I could go back and change my mind because it really is a beautiful venue. If I would have kept the first person instead of getting stuck with Cindy it would definitely give it 5 stars. She's the only reason why it isn't.
Absolutely Wonderful!
We booked Simmons Auditorium in May 2015 with Allison for our wedding reception Saturday, May 28, 2016 and we were very pleased with the location and it did not disappoint. Cindy the event coordinator that started in January 2016 was great! We were disappointed that one of our vendors told us about the staff change at the Kemper Center and that Allison was no longer there as of November 2015. As the bride I did not hear directly from them about the staff change. You would think as a professional courtesy they would reach out to their clients that have events booked when there is a staff change, but they didn't. Lucky for them Cindy is wonderful. She is super friendly and knowledgeable about weddings and all around great to work with. From the first phone call to the goodbye hug at 11:45pm on the night of our reception Cindy was so helpful, professional, accommodating and amazing. She went above and beyond with helping us with the plans for our reception. Cindy explained everything and made sure we understood all our options for drinks and liquor services. The day/night of the event the entire staff was incredible and the venue was clean and the AC was cranking out and everyone had an amazing time!! The grounds were lovely and it was a picture perfect day. We loved every moment. The only slight disappointment was the fountain was not on so we didn't take any pictures around it otherwise it was a splendid day that we will cherish for many years to come!!!
This is a place to have a wedding ceremony! I felt like we were taken to another country.
It is a beautiful place that did not need much decoration because of its true beauty. I had to work with two different event planners but Alison, the last woman I had to work with, was amazing and very easy to work with.
If you are looking for a beautiful church, I would highly recommend this location!
I fell in love with the chapel when I saw it. There wasn't a lot of interaction with the staff which was nice. No phone calls or solicitations.
Not only is the Kemper Center historic and beautiful, but Mary is more than helpful. She is so easy to get in contact with and so real about what you vision and what can be done. She made my wedding such an ease!!
If you are looking for a "not-ao-receptiony" reception hall, the Kemper Center is perfect. I absolutely love the old buildings. Its location made it a one stop shop for pictures and the reception (perfect for having a cocktail during photos). My biggest complaint was the coordinator was a bit of a space cadet. She is super sweet, but I hate having my time wasted when she forgets about appointments. Overall, I recommend this hall.
I had both my ceremony and reception on Kemper's property. The ceremony was in their charming chapel and the reception was in the Simmons Auditorium. As soon as we decided on having our wedding in our hometown, I knew it had to be at Kemper Center. It is a former girls' school with Lake Michigan as it's backdrop. The coordinator is a bit airy so you have to stay on her about most things but overall she's very nice, honest and easy to work with.
THis place was wonderfull in everything that it had to offer. Mary was very helpful in everything . It is such a beautiful place with Lake Michigan out to the back of the Building
Many friends and family members had been married at Kemper, and I wanted to as well. It's a beautiful location, right on the lake, and is gorgeously designed. We had our ceremony in the chapel, and it was perfect. The Bride's room is HUGE and well-let. The alter is beautiful. I have two reasons that I give it 4 rather than 5 stars: 1) I booked our date a year and a half in advance and our 2-hour slot was the last one available in the entire month of July. 2) I wish we could have had our reception there as well, but the large auditorium is not wheelchair accessible (mom's in a chair). The only halls that are wheelchair accessible were either too small to accommodate our 100-person guest list, or too strangely laid out for a reception. If accessibility was not a concern, it would have been booked in a heart-beat.
We couldn't ask for a better location. The chapel is beautiful and the Simmons Auditorium was spectacular. Our guests loved being right on the lake and how special the location felt! Mary, the Kemper Center coordinator couldn't be nicer - she is fantastic!
I looked into having my wedding ceremony there, beautiful place and right on the lake. After I went to go look at it and went over the packages, I decided to book them a few weeks later and my date was already booked. If you want to have your wedding there. Book that day when you go look at it, the Kemper Center books fast.
It's hard to resist loving the Kemper Center from the minute you drive through the entrance. This huge ornate mansion is set on one of my favorite parts of Lake Michigan. It's so quiet and elegant yet so interesting and out of the ordinary. There's a huge element of history at the mansion and that was a big draw for us. Our guest were so intrigued by the chapel and all the history behind the building itself. We offered mansion tours in between the ceremony and the reception and it was SUCH an awesome thing for our guests they're still raving about how cool it was. Our pictures turned out AWESOME because there were so many great spots for our photographers to get creative. WE LOVED IT.
We had a relatively small wedding size... Only about 90 or so guests. The location is PERFECT in Kenosha, right by the lake with amazing picture possibilities. My husband and I loved the gothic style cathedral and thought the space was quaint and quirky enough for our personalities. :) We were allowed to bring in pretty much any other vendor for cake/flowers/catering, which was great. However, the price was a bit steep for what we got, and the lady in charge of the venue was difficult, if not IMPOSSIBLE, to track down even days prior to our event. This caused a lot of undue stress to both our wedding party and our parents/guests. That person and the price of the venue caused it to lose a star. But overall the place is beautiful.
Kemper (Simmons) was beautiful! I am so happy that I had my wedding there!
beautiful room, beautiful grounds for photos, right on lake michigan, and great people to work with!
The Kemper chapel is beautiful. It's a work of art-no need to decorate too much-which was great. The staff were very helpful and the bridal room was very nice.
