Hello! My name is Ken Schmidt. I have been married for a little over 20 years and we have four children. Originally from the Midwest, we moved to Charlotte 16 years ago and fell in love with the state and region. I spent over 20 years in full-time ministry and loved getting the opportunity to be a part of nearly 200 weddings. I am a Mortgage Loan Officer with American Security Mortgage Corp in Charlotte, NC. In my free time I enjoy time with my family, running, reading, craft beers and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Hands Down, the BEST Officiant! Choosing Ken Schmidt to officiate the wedding was an excellent decision! He had such positive energy from the first meeting. We loved that he took the time to get to know us, our story, and vision for the ceremony. Ken didn’t want to just show up and say words then leave. He wanted to be a part of the magic. Ken was super organized and knowledgeable, and provided resources and guidance for vows and legal aspects of marriage. He worked with us to create a personal and meaningful ceremony by giving us examples of readings and vows to choose from. We had no clue what all was included in “the ceremony” and Ken had an agenda and kept us on track with professionalism. On the wedding day, Ken was calm and confident, helping to ease nerves, especially with our parents and ourselves. He was able to command the room with excellent public speaking and have everyone put their phones down. He delivered the ceremony with warmth, humor, and sincerity. He knew to move out of the way for first kiss pictures without us telling him. He truly guided the whole ceremony along. When we got hung up during our vows, he encouraged us with a big smile. Guests complimented the ceremony was meaningful, short and heartfelt and they loved talking to Ken before and after the ceremony. Honestly it was like he was our uncle who came to the wedding and made everyone feel comfortable. We strongly recommend Ken to any couple looking for an officiant who will make their wedding day unforgettable!

We were incredibly lucky to have Ken officiate our wedding. He brings such heart, professionalism, and presence to what he does. He took the time to listen to our story, learn what mattered most to us, and then crafted a ceremony that felt completely "us" — full of love, laughter, and sincerity. He asked thoughtful questions, listened deeply, and then put together a ceremony that felt like a mirror of who we are. What stood out most was his ability to hold space. In a moment that can feel overwhelming, he grounded us. His words were meaningful and beautifully delivered, balancing emotion with lightheartedness, tradition with individuality. On the day itself, he was calm and present — guiding the ceremony with a warmth that made everyone feel included. Not only is he an amazing officiant, but he is also a really genuine person. All of our family and friends fell in love with him during the reception and I’m pretty sure they like him more than they like us now! Whether you know him personally or are meeting him for the first time, you will immediately feel his sincerity and dedication. He doesn't just do weddings — he creates moments you'll never forget. Contacting Ken was easily one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. Ken is an excellent communicator and helped walk us through everything leading up to our wedding date. We were coming from out of state and Ken reassured our nerves and made sure we were prepared for getting our marriage license among other things. He is so personable, and my mother-in-law even commented that when talking with him it felt like he’d truly known my wife and I. We are so glad Ken took the plunge and hiked up with us. He made our ceremony perfect and exactly how we wanted. You will not regret Ken for your wedding ceremony.

When looking to hire a officiant we were looking for someone who was a good communicator, wrote a ceremony that felt personal to us and had experience. Ken was/did all of those things. He took the time to get to know us prior to the wedding, wrote a ceremony with a beautiful message that was personal to our relationship, and took care of the details that we otherwise would not have thought of. Ken was the most amazing officiant. He was an amazing speaker, and personalized his message to fit my husband and I’s relationship perfectly. Our guests loved his words, confidence, and ability to not drag on a long ceremony. He took the time throughout the entire process to get to know us and build a relationship with us before marrying us. Ken made our day so special! As a queer couple, it was important to us to find an officiant that celebrated us and our love. He met with us beforehand, and we discussed what we wanted in the ceremony, tone, language etc., and helped guide us through that process! The ceremony he officiated was truly beautiful. When my husband and I were first planning our wedding, we wanted to make sure our ceremony was perfect. We wanted it to be organized, flow well, engaging and short! Ken accomplished all of that for us. We originally thought having a family member marry us would be awesome, but I am SO happy we went with Ken. Hiring an officiant is the best way to ensure your ceremony is "worry free". We talked with several officiants but picked Kent because he was: 1. Engaging to talk to 2. Has a upbeat good people speaking voice 3. He is super kind, caring, funny and easy to get along with. 4. Has lots of experience Ken came to our rehearsal and got along so well with my family who loves to joke around/have fun. It was cold that night and we rehearsed outside. Ken made sure everyone was on the same page and we got the rehearsal done quick. Our ceremony was absolutely everything we wanted. Ken made some last minute changes that I requested and it all came together perfectly. We had so many compliments on our ceremony! Ken got along so well with our family that everyone thought he was a family member that they didn't know! I 110% recommend Ken, he was fantastic and someone we hope to stay in touch with in the future.

My now husband and I were to get married on 1/1/25 but due to the storm in Asheville we had to cha be the date and location. After speaking with a few vendors after 1 phone conversation I knew Ken was the perfect fit. He was very professional, kind, detail oriented, and accommodating. After being stressed out with basically having to adjust our whole wedding ceremony, Ken helped to make it a smooth transition. In the short time we had he managed to schedule a zoom meeting with the 3 of us, create our ceremony, send prompt and timely emails, and sent check in text. He even check the weather, as we had an outdoor wedding and updated us, asked what colors we were wearing as to not clash in the photos and asked if we had a back up location if it rained. Needles to say he understood the assignment :). When we do our big ceremony next year we will be hiring Ken again and for any other marital events. My husband was very impressed and whenever we talk about our ceremony he is definitely mentioned. I don’t care what kind of ceremony you are having I recommend Ken as he will make your day that much more special and one less thing to worry about. Trust me. I would have given him 10 starts if I could (and I can be a little a lot picky lol so that speaks volumes within itself).

We had a wonderful experience with Ken! Due to Hurricane Helene we had to rearrange a lot and luckily Ken was very flexible. We worked together to build a beautiful ceremony, he gave us great guidance, and added in special touches that meant so much to us! We highly recommend using Ken, you will love him as we did!

Ken exceeded our expectations as an officiant. He was extremely professional and approachable throughout the entire process. He took his time to get to know us and understand what we wanted out of our ceremony. We knew we didn’t want to go too traditional but didn’t have a good sense of what that would look like. Ken provided ideas, suggestions and resources when we were trying to come up with what we wanted. In the end our ceremony felt authentic to us as a couple.
