Key West Cakes

Key West Cakes created an absolutely delicious cake for our wedding! The cake tasting was a highlight of our planning process as it was well organized and fun. Steven at Key West Cakes provided helpful recommendations of what flavors paired well together, but also encouraged us to personalize based on our preferences. Our final selection was red velvet with layers of raspberry and cream cheese and buttercream frosting, and it was divine! Key West Cakes worked with our florist (Duarte Floral Design) to create a floral cake topper, so our cake looked as good as it tasted! We highly recommend Key West Cakes and can't wait to come back.

Absolutely the best cake ever!! They were so easy to work with and we hired them without tasting first. We made a great choice for sure. Not only was the cake so delicious, it was BEAUTIFUL!!! Steven was the best. I highly recommend this business.

AMAZING CAKES!!!! Steve and his team did an amazing job. Communicated via email we sent them pinterest ideas and they replicated the photos beautifully. We received so many compliments on our two cakes for our wedding, one cake was our traditional wedding cake and the second cake was the grooms cake key lime style. Both were gorgeous and delicious. They worked with out florist to use the flowers on the cake as well and delivered the cakes to the Hemingway Home where our reception was. No issues. Everything was seamless. Definitely recommend. Plus they were able to accommodate our shrinking wedding due to covid and change the cake tiers last minute. Prices were very reasonable.

I wish I could give them more stars. KWC created an awesome groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner and delicious cup cakes for our wedding. We were so appreciative of their support and understanding throughout the chaos of cancelling/rescheduling our events d/t the Covid pandemic. Not only were they kind and friendly, their baked goods are delicious and fairly priced. I always make a point to stop into the bakery for a cupcake whenever I visit Key West. Highly recommend.

No starts should be allowed! The owner was totally rude by simply neglecting our inquiry for weeks. Apparently a small wedding cake is not worth their time. Then in the end just said he didn’t want to make it! Wth??? As far as I know he should be nice to us, CUSTOMERS, and not the opposite. You have the choice to not make it but don’t be a complete jerk! In the end, we found a way better place, half the price and way more flavors to choose! Don’t be fooled by these wedding websites, there are places not necessarily specialized but making great wedding cakes. These Key West bakers think they’re hot stuff for no reason.

Took our call on May 20th and responded through email that they would make a single-tier wedding cake for us to be picked up on July 1st, the day of our ceremony in Key West. I hadn't heard back for literally two weeks, so I called just now and I was told that "the 6 inch cake was too much for them to handle right now" even though they told me they could make this two weeks ago, and that "I should probably look for some one else to make my cake". I would love to have two weeks of my time back so I can find some one else... absolutely terrible customer service. If you are looking for some one reliable that won't fall through, good luck and try elsewhere. Read the reviews, because there's a lot (not just on Google) that are EXACTLY like this... I wish I would have seen them all sooner, and they've done it to past customers as well... completely tactless and don't care about their reputation, just what their doing at the present moment. I'm disgusted that they do this to people so often.

We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake but only a top tier with cookie, cupcakes & key lime tarte’s. Everyone at our wedding was RAVING about how good our desserts were and how it was so much better than just a standard wedding cake. They also made our tasting so much fun and laid out all of our options with all the different fillings, cakes & toppings. They are awesome!

Steven we absolutely loved our cake! Perfect! I couldn’t believe how amazing it looked and tasted! Beautiful job on our colors and the taste of that ganache with yellow cake plus key lime with mango, was absolutely intoxicating! We were extremely happy and appreciate your time!

We ordered a 3 tier wedding cake with coconut cake and raspberry filling. Key West Cakes was very easy to work with and was the primary reason we choose them for our destination wedding. We had no regrets as this was by far the most delicious cake I have ever tasted at a wedding and I get bragging rites with my friends and family that my wedding had the best tasting cake. I highly recommend this business and I may even order a small cake the next time I visit just to re-experience the flavor.

We used Key West Cakes for two events our wedding weekend. They made the wedding cake and cookie platters for a welcome party at the Custom House. KWC delivered everything to the sites. They were responsive and helpful in email exchanges as we were planning long distance. They were able to provide recommended cake topper sizes as well as type/size of ribbon so our cake would look perfect. We provided the cake topper and the ribbon for the cake; they provided the magic. :) We would suggest asking advice on how to cut a slice of cake around the ribbon prior to the reception; although, our naivety made for a great memory. We did not get a groom's cake. It was all beautiful, on time, and delicious!! We plan to stop in for cupcakes any time we are visiting Key West. I stopped in twice before the wedding. Both times were so much fun. The staff is typical Key West - kind, friendly, helpful, and professional.

The cake was absolutely gorgeous! We did a Key Lime cake with Key Lime Mouse filling and a Key lime butter cream. It was absolutely decadent and rather refreshing! Everyone at our wedding raved about the cake and how good it was!

I used Key West Cakes for my wedding cupcakes and a small bride and groom cake. We had funfetti, chocolate, guava, and key lime flavors. They were delicious and came out beautiful! Everyone enjoyed them. They were also easy to work with and very responsive. I highly recommend them for any event!

Our wedding cake from Key West Cakes was amazing, delicious and perfection! I was planning the wedding long distance, so had to trust the reviews and let me tell you Key West Cakes did not disappoint. The cake was beautiful, but the star of the show were the Key Lime Starfish Cookies with sugar sand and white chocolate sea shells individually packaged. They were delightful! Cake was delivered on time and as ordered, and ordering was super easy and stress free! Highly recommend.

Our cake for our wedding was soooo delicious!!! Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to do a taste testing as our wedding was a destination wedding but the cake was perfect! The design was exactly what we asked for and it tasted great!!!! I definitely recommend this company!!!

Key West Cakes did a naked cake for our August5th wedding. I sent them a picture of something that I loved and they were able to replicate it almost to a tee. It was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. We did a key lime cake with a raspberry filling; it was delicious! The staff was a pleasure to work with as well. Definitely highly recommend this company!

Key West Cakes made our wedding cake on 5/14/16 and we were very happy with it! We had key lime cake with key lime filling and one layer with yellow cake and guava filling. It was delicious! Total incompetence. Cakes look great. Too bad we never got to taste our wedding cake. We ordered and paid in full for a cake months ago for our elopement. Our cake was never delivered. Delivery person (Paul) hung up on me, refused to take calls from our wedding planner. We missed our dinner reservations because we stood around waiting for him. No cake, no pictures with cake, etc. To make matters worse no apology!! Save yourself the money and stress and buy your cake from Publix.

Steven and Key West Cakes is AMAZING. We went in for a tasting and it was so incredibly difficult to decided on a flavor. They were all DELICIOUS. We ended up going with key lime cake and coconut cream filling and man was it good. The cake was beautiful and they worked with my florist to add bright orchids for a finishing touch. Honestly, I wish I lived closer to Key West cakes so I could eat it everyday! All of my guests were begging for seconds and thirds! My only regret... we should have bought a bigger cake! :)

Key West Cakes made our beautiful wedding cake and did an amazing job!! The cake itself was stunning. I gave one picture of what we were envisioning, and they exceeded our expectations. They worked with our florist to put fresh flowers on it and knew exactly what I wanted from our consultation & tasting. It also tasted amazing - something you don’t usually get with wedding cakes. We were able to do some great flavor combinations and different type of cake on each tier. Amanda and Debbi were easy to work with and got back to me quickly with any questions. I would highly recommend Key West Cakes to anyone!!

My husband and I really enjoyed cake tasting throughout Key West. We were very impressed with Key West Cakes from the beginning. Stephen took his time on multiple occasions to make sure I got just what I wanted without going over budget. He and Debbie made sure my cake vision came to life. On the day of our cake was perfect. I wish there was a place I could upload a photo to show it off. Not only was it gorgeous but it tasted amazing. People got seconds if they could. I can't wait to go back for my anniversary cake.

Seriously the most delicious cake I've ever eaten. The filling with fresh strawberries and lightness of the frosting was incredible - not too heavy to interfere with dancing afterward! There were so many delicious flavors that we ended up getting three different ones in our cake - red velvet, key lime and vanilla with strawberries. And the cake itself was gorgeous. Can't recommend highly enough.

Key West Cakes created a beautifully simple wedding cake for my wedding day that tasted AMAZING! It's very hard to find great tasting wedding cake--trust me. But we got it all with ours! They also created little starfish cookies in "sand" for our guests to take home as a gift. The cookies were also delicious. I highly recommend them!

My Husband & all our guests were still talking about how delicious our cake was the next morning!! We ordered a two tier cake we had a total of 17 people. top layer was coconut cake with chocolate ganache second layer was key lime cake with raspberry & key lime filling! And of course buttercream frosting! My only regret was not ordering a larger cake so we could have left overs!! Oh & the cake was beautiful.. I can not say enough about Key West Cakes. I knew the moment I walked into the bakery and took the first bite of a delicious lemon cupcake that we had found the perfect bakery for our wedding cake and my husband's 50th birthday party celebration in Key West. The staff was very helpful and friendly and Ava was amazing. I'm a profession event planner, so my expectations are very high and they met every one of them. I only wish they had a location in Chicago, so that I could stop by weekly and enjoy a cupcake!

All I did was call and tell them what my cake topper looked like and they made us an absolutely beautiful cake. We changed the size we wanted several times with no problem. We had to delay our wedding due to rain for one day and they gladly held the cake an extra day. Ava and Stephen were a pleasure to work with. The cake looked and tasted amazing. I highly recommend them for wedding cakes! Everything else in their bakery looked really good as well.

Key West Cakes was marvelous to deal with. They went out of their way to accommodate our cake tasting, made excellent suggestions and made a cake exactly how our daughter wished it to be. I only wish I had them make an additional small cake for me to take home, it was delicious!

Key West Cakes was excellent from start to finish. We made a trip to Key West to meet with our vendors, and one of the things we were most excited for during our trip was the cake tasting. Key West Cakes did not disappoint! We rode bikes to their store, which is super cute. They made up the best little tasting menu for us and we got to try many of the cakes and frosting types. After making our selection we shared a photo of a cake we saw online that was a white and pink ombre. They were able to emulate the cake perfectly. The cake was so beautiful and tasted amazing! A few weeks before I wanted to surprise my partner and add in figurines of our pets Olive (the chihuahua) and Zoey (the bengal cat). I had not seen their prior work when it came to this type of thing so I was a little nervous with how they were going to turn out. They added the little guys on the side and it was the perfect surprise. Thank you so much to the crew and Ava for helping to make our day so special!

We had Key West Cakes do our cake for our wedding and I am so glad we did! The cake turned out just how I wanted it to and it was so good. The cake was so moist I couldn't get enough of it!

Just walk into this cake shop and you will know that you don't need to look any further. The shop is filled with an amazing, sweet smell of baking cakes. The cake tastes just as good as it smells. Of course, the cake also has to be a star if i's own, so looks are important. Once again, you will not be disappointed! Our cake was almost too pretty to eat.

Having a destination wedding made it possible to go outside the box, pie instead of cake. Key west is known for its key lime pie and that's what I did. We had a large pie for cutting and small tarts for all the guests. They were delicious.

Beautiful, delicious and great service….what more can I say. We did a two tier naked cake with drizzled caramel and cupcakes with piped frosting and a sprinkle of toasted coconut. The cake was moist, the frosting was light and the presentation was simply perfect. I will post photos later so you can see just how beautiful the cake really was! We are very pleased with our cake vendor selection!

We use Key West Cakes for all of our birthdays and events so when planning our wedding last year, we knew exactly who to use!! Key West Cakes is the best in town!!! All of their creations have exceeded our expectations, not to mention, they are sooooooo delicious!!! Our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous. They made it exactly how I had envisioned!!! Couldn’t have asked for a better cake and the staff is so wonderful to work with!! We love Steven and Ava!!! They totally go out of their way for us and make the whole ordering process a cinch!! My sister-in-law put the ordering of her and my brother-in-law's wedding cake in MY HANDS. (Crazy, I know, but true.) So I asked what kind of cake—red velvet?!!?—and immediately contacted Key West Cakes. KWC explained somethings to me, such as red velvet maybe not such a good idea with a white wedding dress "but we can do it!" and a genuinely brilliant compromise. The cake was guava (my family is Jamaican) and the top tier was red velvet! Let me tell you, the bride and groom were surprised and overjoyed. It was a genuine delight. FURTHERMORE, I must give credit to Key West Cakes for delivering the cake promptly and safely even though the wedding was 20-minutes from Key West. You think I wasn't worried? I WAS IN CHARGE of the wedding cake! Goodness sakes! Oh one last (important) thing ...My Google was the cake delicious. I mean, it really did not have to be, there is so much going on at a wedding that really I think the cake's flavor is probably the last thing anyone cares about. Well, not at this wedding. People were going back for more! The guava-and-buttercreme cake was the pièce de résistance. Thank you Key West Cakes, you made me a hero and your cake was the crowning touch which made my brother-and-sister-in-law's wedding a perfectly wonderful day.

The cake was presented after a delicious dinner and the flowers decorating the cake were duplicates of the Bride's orchids in her bouquet created in sugar. How did they do that? The lemon filling with a white 3 layer cake was so refreshing and was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening. Thank you for adding to our celebration.

Key West Cakes made us the most incredible wedding cake imaginable. We had a ton of fun going down before the wedding when my fiance, my daughter and I went to a testing and each got to pick a layer for our wedding cake. Months later, when I saw the cake at my wedding I was just stunned at how beautiful it was. Later when we tasted it, it tasted even better than it looked! Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Our wedding desserts were beautiful and delicious and the display table was perfect. Key west cakes was very responsive to our communications and easy to plan with, even though we live in Ohio. Key West cakes also made us edible favor bags with a key lime starfish shaped cookie, a white chocolate shell, and cinnamon sugar sand. They went above and beyond what was expected and even tied our place-cards to these bags for us - these were a big hit. Overall, service was wonderful - 5 stars!

I was quite disappointed in my wedding cake from Key West cakes. I had requested a tier-type cake with a top tier of cake (to cut with my groom) and the lower tiers of key lime tarts. However, halfway through my reception I went to look at my cake and it was completely and utterly disappointing. I really wish I could say better things about Key West Cakes because the ladies were friendly, the grooms cake was a hit, and the cakes were both delicious - but my cake was nothing like I’d expected. My small “top tier” was sitting alone on a huge cake platter and next to it was a serving tray with all of my tarts on it - not at all what I wanted. After my wedding I emailed to inquire as to why my cake was not as I had requested. They told me that I never rented a cake tower and that I should have rented or provided one if that was what I wanted. That is fine, but I was never informed that I would need to provide the tower. I was told that I would need to provide the topper, but in all of the emails back and forth explaining my ideas for the cake (as well as in my contract) was there was never any mention of tower rental. It seems like they would have asked me before the wedding when they saw that I wanted the tower, but instead they left their disappointing cake on display with a serving tray of tarts. I see that most of their reviews are good and hope for the sake of future brides that this was a one-time only oversight. It was upsetting that my wedding was so perfect and the one single thing that disappointed me was my cake. We paid a lot of money for the cakes and did not get what we asked for.

The cake and starfish cookies (key lime flavored) were delicious and they created my personalized cake just from a picture I sent them. It was bang on. I wish I had more cake!

Key west cakes was fabulous from the word GO! They were beyond helpful and so informative. They're all about making the process easy and pleasant. The cake was so good my guests are still talking about it!! I had a small 2 tiered cake and then a small round "grooms cake" for us to eat all week during our honeymoon. The bottom layer was key lime flavored cake with key lime mousse and vanilla buttercream and the top and grooms cake were almond flavored with vanilla buttercream. We used fresh flowers as the topper that were delivered to them from the florist and the way they decorated the cake was so beautiful! They make magnificent cakes and cupcakes for any event you may be having and their flavored are all delicious and unique! I highly recommend them over and over again.

The cake tasting experience is worth it alone! It was so organized and delicious! Everyone at the wedding loved the cake and their favors which Key West Cakes made for us. Key West Cakes was recommended to me by a wedding planner in Key West, and it was an excellent choice. The team at Key West Cakes was easy to work with, especially since this was a destination wedding. The cake was delivered precisely when they said it would arrive, in time for photos. It was absolutely beautiful; exactly what we had hoped it would look like. Better than that, it was absolutely delightful to eat. The layers were moist and fresh. My daughter described it as "perfection", and she's a pretty harsh critic. We had two layers; my new husband chose a chocolate/chocolate layer, and I had a lemon/strawberries and cream layer. Both were delicious! The pricing for the cake was on par for what we had seen in Key West.

Ava and the crew at key west cakes are simply amazing. They helped make our destination wedding weekend more than we could have dreamed of. From our first visit to key west, Ava helped guide us with our planning as they are so knowledgeable of the island and experienced in wedding planning. Our cake was the most gorgeous and delicious cake and our guests are still talking about it!! The kids enjoyed the amazing cupcakes and could not get enough!!! Key west cakes added so many special touches including starfish shaped key lime flavored cookies which we placed in each guests welcome basket upon arrival to the hotel. They were delicious and just adorable for our "theme". Ava is wonderful at what she does and has found her calling!! We highly recommend key west cakes!!!

We went to our tasting at key west cakes and enjoyed it very much. I got a 'home' feeling being in the bakery. Very kind people and great service. Easy to deal with when making requests and/or payments. Our cake was simple but was exactly what we asked for. It tasted great, so every one said (I however, never had any). What they also did for us was sugar cookies (shaped as fish, shells, and starfish) for our catamaran rehearsal dinner. The plate even had brown sugar as sand. Loved it. Great presentation. Even the delivery guy was extremely kind. Great service and great people.

We got a chance to do a taste test prior to the wedding. They had great variety of flavors of fillings and cake that we got to mix and match before making our choice. They were very personable and the cake looked and tasted great the day of the wedding.

Omg, we had chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache in 2 tiers & yellow cake with a strawberry jam in other tier. Awesome! They were great to work with & super friendly at cake tasting.

We had an absolutely beautiful cake. Ava and her team did fabulous. And not only was it gorgeous and perfect it was de-lic-ious!!!! They also did our cupcakes for our rehearsal dinner and there was nothing left at the end of both nights. They brought the cake and cupcakes to both locations. I thought it was very reasonably priced. Also, there had been a mistake in the price due to some confusion with us down sizing our cake and the credit from that going towards more cupcakes for our rehearsal dinner. Anyways, Ava personally called us and told us she had over charged and gave us back our check on our wedding day. It really says a lot about her and how she runs her business. We have gone in several times for breakfast cupcakes and they are amazing as well and the environment is so fun and her employees are so nice and helpful. I highly recommend Key West Cakes out of any other cake company we looked at (there and our home town). I wish there was a way to ship her cakes to us for our reception at home. So thank you Key West Cakes for the most perfect amazing beautiful delicious cake!!!!

We got married in June 2012. About 1 month before the wedding, I called Key West Cakes and spoke to Stephen. He was so nice and accomadating. We looked on their website and picked our 3 most favorite cakes (which were all completely different)and gave them freedom to create for us the perfect cake! Not only did the cake look wondeful, it tasted great as well! I was disappointed in the fresh flowers but that was not Key West Cakes fault! Highly recommend!

We used Ava and Key West Cakes for our wedding cupcakes. They have some of the most amazing flavors, with endless possibilities. We also used them for a birthday cake and retirement cake when we were down for the week before the wedding. I think they are very reasonably priced and you get a lot for the money. If you're in Key West, I would recommend you stop by and try one of their tasty desserts, they have lots of options.

My husband and I threw a little gathering at the hotel the night before the wedding. Neither us wanted a big fancy cake, but wanted to treat our guests to something sweet. We walked into Key West Cakes and were welcomed by a delicious display of cupcakes. They had any flavor you could think of! From PB & J to orange cream, classic chocolate, and of course key lime:) We picked out 25 cupcakes for just over $70 (they were huge cupcakes). Our guests fell in love with them! I had the coconut cream and it was heavenly:) I highly recommend Key West Cakes!

First, I have to say that I wasn't the easiest Bride to work with - I had some special requests that the team not only worked with but made perfect. From the time I met Ava and the team to the day of my wedding, they were great! Good communication, wonderful personalities, and the most delicious cake we have ever tasted! We had a three tiered cake and we could't decide between the white cake with raspberry filling and the key lime cake with the key lime filling and Ava suggested we do 2 tiers of one flavor and one tier of another - what a great idea! We had a bow made out of ribbon that they made look amazing - and that was our cake! Everyone at the wedding told us they not only ate their piece of cake but they were sharing with the person next to them so they could try the other flavor...and if there was an extra piece around...it would disappear within seconds, our guests couldn't get enough (and this was after a big dinner!). Thank you Key West Cakes - we hope to visit in a year for more cake!!!

Amazingly delicious!!!!! Our wedding cake was two tiers and each was a different flavor; red velvet and key lime. They were both absolutely delicious but the key lime was to die for!!!! Ava worked with us to decide on the flavors and design for the cake. She was a pleasure to work with. They delivered the cake to the resort on time as they said they would. The cake was stunningly beautiful!!! Everyone at the wedding loved it. I can't wait until our next trip down to Key West to go to their bakery for some key lime cake!!!!

I am not a cake person but I loved my cake. I got married in Key West last Dec 31 of 2011 and was so easy to get their help and choose the filling, the flavor and the cake style. I had a cake top in a beach style and they match so nicely. Great job.

I was very impressed with the taste of the cupcakes. And they were pretty. Very nice presentation also -- they even had an "S" on each cupcake for our last name. Very nice.

Key West Cakes is a great vendor to work with and their cakes/cupcakes taste wonderful. I ordered cupcakes for my guests and a small cake for my husband and I to cut, and this worked beautifully. My one tiny complaint was that the item I asked them to wrap around the cake wasn't lined up properly so the symmetry of it wasn't right, but I am also very perfectionistic so it probably wasn't a huge deal in reality. Very nice people to work with.

My husband and I have not always been impressed with wedding cakes at different family weddings. After we picked our wedding date and the venue, the next concern we had was the cake. We had to order one on faith without trying a sample, since we were flying in to our destination wedding from southern California only days before our big day. Luckily, our cake from Key West Cakes exceeded our expectations in taste and beauty. We were very happy and so were our guests. The three tier size was more than enough for our group of 41. We felt very lucky to have a few pieces left over to eat with family days after the wedding. I highly recommend Key West Cakes to anyone who loves a moist cake without fondant, and values artistic style. Our chocolate cake with bavarian creme and white buttercream frosting was decorated very elegantly with swirls and orchids. It was exactly what we pictured. We plan to revisit Key West someday for an anniversary, and we will definitely order a smaller version of our perfect cake!

I didn't actually order my cake, my friend did. They listened to what he wanted to do & it turned out great! Not only was the cake decorated beautifully...it was so good! I wish we weren't flying from Key West to our honeymoon because I wanted to eat more the next day! Delicious, moist & fluffy!!

The folks at Key West Cakes not only make beautiful and tasty cakes they were helpful beyond belief. When I changed the size of the cake at the last minute they were very accomodating. A wedding guest that is cake maker sung high praises about the workmanship and quality of the cake!

Our cake was not only beautiful, but sooooo delish! the outside was covered in seashells, the cake was key lime with a raspberry filling and chocolate ganache. I want more!

I selected a key lime flavored cake with buttercream icing and key lime mousse filling. It was so amazing that my guests are STILL talking about it!

I used Key West Cakes to make my wedding cake at the recommendation of my wedding coordinator, Southermost Bride. About 6 months before the wedding we had a cake tasting. During the cake tasting the bakers kept giving us free samples of different cupcakes to try out, in addition to our cakes samples. They were delicious! Everything there was wonderful. After we selected a cake, they had the proposal to me the next day. On the day of the wedding, the cake was delivered on time, and was beautiful. DELICIOUS! I was very impressed with their service. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
