I’ll share the best wedding advice a friend gave me about planning a wedding: Make sure you love your photographer’s work, because it will be what captures the memories and endures years after your memories of the day begin to fade. Wanting more of a photojournalist approach to our wedding, I was totally taken with Kim’s portfolio, and we never seriously considered the other photographers we researched. Her photos captured the emotion of interactions, and even not knowing the people in those shots she shared, you could feel the joy, and it made me want to smile back at them.
Kim was a great resource before the wedding as well. My partner and I had been together many years before we decided to make it official and publically declare our love and commitment at our wedding. As one of us was comfortable around cameras and the other was not, Kim suggested a mini-session, so that we could get comfortable with her and with a camera following our every move. It was a great opportunity, and the beginning of both of us believing we were photogenic enough; Kim catches you in those moments where you are unaware that the camera is there, and the result is fabulous.
Kim also suggested that we follow some of the conventions we were going to ignore, like not seeing the dress or each other before the wedding. We are so glad we did, as the “First Look” photos are among some of our favorites. We wanted to include a photo on the cover of our thank you notes, and Kim was kind enough to release one from the First Look almost immediately, a photo where she had caught us in a giddy laugh as we turned to face her. It set the tone for the rest of the day’s photos – emotional honesty, action shots, couples and friends at the cocktail hour, as well as a few of the traditional family and wedding party formal groupings. As Kim was leaving, she came to us and we did a shot outside, away from the energy of the reception, with just the two of us in the night, illuminated by only the soft lights on the patio. From the mini-session in summer, to the wedding First Look through Last Look, and everything in between, Kim was an integral part of making our wedding memorable. I see those photos and they never cease to make me smile.
Because our wedding was in late October, we were able to include photos of our guests in the Christmas cards we sent to them, and we were surprised at the thank you cards we received for our “gift." Clearly, Kim’s photographic skill is the gift you can give yourself for your wedding – those photos will be an amazing reflection of the beauty of your day for years.
We connected with Kim right away when we had met her in a Starbucks so she could show us her work. You could tell right away her passion for photography.
It was after our engagement session that we knew she was going to be the perfect photographer to photograph our wedding. She was very easy to get along with and told us what kind of poses to make without being demanding.
On our wedding day she came to my house. She was able to capture all of the photos I wanted before the wedding even though all the bridesmaids were in a rush to get ready.
After the ceremony we had about 4 hours of time to get pictures of us, family and the wedding party. We were pressed for time in the church right after since there was another ceremony right after ours. She was great on getting everyone to move and get some great pictures in. She was also able to capture the pinterest pictures I had wanted! Also, she worked very well with finding great picture spots with the locations I had given.
At the reception she captured all of the essentials plus more. Its great being able to look at a photograph and see that everyone is having a great time. The last photo of the night of my husband and I is probably one of my favorites - it really looks like it is from a fairytale!
Kim is wonderful! We will definitely be using her in the future for family photos and will be recommending her to friends that will be getting married. Her photography packages are worth every penny. She is very quick about getting pictures up on her website so you can see, as opposed to other photographers and will even post a couple the day after! We haven't even seen all of our pictures yet and are truly impressed with what we have seen so far.
I can tell you that if you choose Kim to photograph your wedding you will not be disappointed!!!
I have known Kim for years as she has photographed my nieces growing up. My wife did most of the planning, but Kim was one of the few things I insisted on. Thankfully my wife fell in love with her portfolio and Kim herself!
Kim and her assistant did an amazing job on our wedding day. They had pre-scouted out the church and park and had everything planned out. I usually hate being in photos, but Kim and Larry made it fun and the time passed by so quick.
The wedding day went by so quick so I am glad that we have amazing photos to always remember them by. I would (and have) recommended KimberleeB to all friends and family.
My husband and I were married in May of 2012. Of all the wedding hassle, the photography was the easy part. I didn't know Kim at the time, but I had seen her amazing work and knew we were going to use her- regardless of the cost. Thankfully, Kim’s prices are very reasonable. After getting the pictures back, we actually tried to pay her and her assistant more (they wouldn’t take the money but did let us treat them to dinner :)
Kim goes so over and beyond what is expected from a photographer. She scouted the church and the park we were using months before the date and was as excited as we were about the wedding. She helped us develop a timeline for the day and thought of things we couldn’t have anticipated. The day of the wedding, Kim was there early and made sure she got pictures of everything. I felt like a princess in my dress and make-up; and Kim and her assistant treated me like one. We took so many pictures in different locations, but the time flew by because Kim made it so enjoyable. Her pictures included both posed shots as well as those one of a kind shots that can only be captured when no one knows the camera is going.
Imagine my surprise when less than a week after the wedding, we received a “best of” DVD with some of her favorite pictures, already edited. My husband and I started looking through them and we were in absolute awe. Most of them looked like they belonged on the cover of a magazine. That is why I call Kim an artist and a magician. Her photography captured so much more than just my husband and I; her pictures captured the love, the excitement, and the beauty of the day. She quickly edited all pictures and put them in an online gallery and gave us DVDs. There were thousands of pictures and each one was beautiful; including so many I didn’t even realize she had taken.
The hardest part about using Kim as our photographer? Deciding on our favorite picture. Every time we look at them, we find a new one we love. Kim didn’t just give us photos of our wedding day, she created an album of memories that we will have for the rest of our lives. Words and money cannot thank Kim enough for capturing our day. I know without a doubt that we will use her again in the future for each of our milestone events- to use anyone else would be a disappointment.
Kim and her assistant (her husband) took pictures for our wedding on August 4, 2012 in small town Iowa! The pictures are amazing! Kim was very patient and energetic! The day couldn't have gone any smoother than it did. Kim incorporated our venue and our vintage theme to help capture the moment. We couldn't be any happier with our pictures! I recommend KimberleeB Photography 100%!
