Kinfolk Bride

I chose Kinfolk for one of my bridal appointments because it aligned with my values of sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, and after attending the appointment I can confirm it truly does embody those attributes! Mayana not only has the most thoughtful appointment questionnaire (right down to the music you want to listen to), but she has thought of everything - inclusive sizing (and also not focusing on sizing at all), unique designers, a perfectly lit, gorgeous, yet cozy setting... seriously, she sets the standard for bridal shopping. None of my other appointments rose to her level, and on top of it all she is a lovely person. Do yourself a favor and book your dress shopping with Kinfolk!!

Kinfolk Bride is the perfect place for Philly brides who have a Philly spirit. I ended up there on the recommendation of another area bridal salon and was counting down the days until my appointment after I saw their dresses on their website! I knew it was the place for me. My expectations were met completely -- from the ambiance, to the service, to the experience, to finding my dress! Mayana was amazing and real -- there for it all and to fill in any question, gap or idea with something that was in line with my vision (old Hollywood meets east coast/Philadelphia edge) I ended up in a THE LAW gown and was able to meet the designer who was right next door. I didn't want to leave or take my ensemble off. Can't wait to be back for future appointments.

My recent experience at Kinfolk was absolutely wonderful and one I will remember forever. The space is incredible, chic, and so comfortable, the fact that we had the whole space to ourselves added to how special it was. Mayana was... no words! Truly the most knowledgeable, attentive, patient, and kind person to work with and made me feel so special. She didn't rush me, didn't push me to make a decision, and knew all the right things to say and questions to ask. She truly felt like a friend helping you throughout the process, rather than the owner! The designers and dresses at Kinfolk are also so unique - I ended up saying "yes" to a dress that day, but one that I would never have even thought to try on without Mayana's knowledge and encouragement. RUN to make an apt at Kinfolk - you will not regret it! Thank you Mayana for everything! <3

Mayana is absolutely wonderful! She has a unique selection of gowns from great designers, which all have a very modern touch but still remain classic. I went to my appointment with a list of gowns I wanted to try, and after trying them Mayana recommended one more that wasn't on my list, and it ended up being the one! She has great taste and picked up on my style immediately. I can't recommend her enough and am sending all of my engaged friends her way!

Had an amazing experience at Kinfolk Bride! I had absolutely no clue what kind of dress I was looking for when I went in. Mayana did such an incredible job figuring out what I liked/disliked and tailored the dress pulls perfectly to find THE one. She is seriously a bridal magician. Highly recommend!!

Update from a previous review—about a month before my wedding, I had an unexpected issue with my dress. I contacted Mayana and she went above and beyond to help me, keep me in the loop, and make sure I was totally happy with my dress. This woman will move mountains for her clients! I was so happy with how my dress turned out in the end—exactly how I had hoped it would be.

Mayana is amazing! Her shop is so cozy and inviting, and her kind, gentle, and supportive nature makes it even better. She listened intently on what I said I was looking for and gave me numerous options that I loved, including some I wouldn’t have picked for myself! It was hard to choose, but she helped make the extremely difficult decision seem easy. She also made me feel very comfortable and was very supportive and patient with my indecisiveness. I scheduled two appointments at Kinfolk and had an amazing experience both times. I went to maybe 10 different places between my first and second appointment, and no other experience came close to the one I had at Kinfolk. I could go on and on about how great Kinfolk is! 10000/10 definitely recommend.

I had the absolute best experience with Mayana at Kinfolk! I went into the whole appointment with a bit of trepidation/feeling self conscious of my body and she made me feel so comfortable throughout the trying-on process! She also provided a lot of amazing input and direction on dresses I would have never thought to try on myself. She took all my feedback into consideration and pulled some amazing dresses for me. I’m so thankful I was able to find my dress on my first appointment!! Highly highly highly recommend Kinfolk!

Mayana was amazing at helping me find my dream dress! The collection is stunning and unique. I had a difficult time picking only one dress because I fell in love with several others. I was looking for something modern and non traditional, but I think there is something for any type of bride. Also, Mayana is lovely and made me feel comfortable in this process. I will recommend Kinfolk Bride to any future bride!

Kinfolk was an amazing experience. Mayana has created a perfect atmosphere to try on dresses. The natural light is the space is amazing. I felt comfortable, confident, and relaxed while there. The experience was very professional and catered towards my needs.

After going to many other bridal boutiques in search of the perfect dress, Kinfolk stood out lightyears beyond the rest. The location, the dress selection, and the overall vibe was perfect. Mayana was patient and listened to what felt best when selecting my dress. She is an absolute DREAM to work with. I was able to find "the one" and I could not be happier. To all the brides out there still searching for your dream dress: run, don't walk to Kinfolk!

Beautiful bridal shop with a wonderful selection of dresses from unique designers. As someone overwhelmed with wedding dress shopping, the experience was calm, fun, and stress-free. Mayana was so easy and fun to work with. Highly recommend!

Mayana has created the most beautiful space to find your perfect dress. The sun-filled studio is a study in minimalism with stylish seating and open racks of sample gowns. She has curated a unique but diverse collection of wedding pieces, from separates to glamorous gowns. The individual appointment allows you and your group to see all of the pieces while Mayana helps pick out what will suit your style best. She even special ordered a sample dress for me that she didn't previously carry in the store. She encouraged me to try a variety of styles and did a great job encouraging feedback from my friends/family while allowing me the space to make decisions for myself. I ended up picking a gown that I never would have considered, but with Mayana's encouragement, I tried it on. She was extremely generous with her time, allowing me to try it on several times against other dresses for comparison. She has a unique eye for a bride's style and has the selection to allow you to really find the most perfect dress. I would encourage anyone to go to Kinfolk if they have the opportunity. I don't think you'll find any experience like this anywhere else in Philadelphia.

The big word I feel from this is “lucky.” While I’m excited about my wedding, I was dreading dress shopping. So when I was looking for shops and found Kinfolk, it felt like a hug. What Mayana has put together is so intentional and beautiful; it’s a truly special shopping experience. You really take the lead (with her expert advice). The first time I came in, I didn’t find anything I loved. I went to some other shops, and while they weren’t all bad, I wasn’t as immediately at home. So, I reached back out to Mayana for a second try, and lo and behold, it worked. Her patience, support, and intentionality show through, and I feel so lucky to live in a city with a store like this.

Had such an amazing experience shopping for bridal gowns here! Mayana is amazing! She really personalizes the appointment and made me, my sisters, and mom so comfortable in her beautiful shop! She has an amazing inventory of gorgeous gowns and has a great eye for showing you what can be done with each dress. Highly recommend checking out Kinfolk bride!

You should absolutely go here!! Had an amazing time working with Mayana in her gorgeous studio - and I found my dress here after visiting a few other boutiques in NYC! She is super kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. All of the dresses she carries (most if not all are sampled in two inclusive sizes) are interesting, unique, and beautiful. I felt heard when explaining what I was looking for. Mayana was very helpful in pulling samples of what I had come looking for as well as some others. 10/10!

Kinfolk is a beautiful bridal studio. Mayana creates a space that is warm and inviting. Down to even playing your favorite playlist. It is a private studio where you are the only trying on dresses. The dresses she has chosen for her studio are incredible! Easily my favorite bridal studio.

We had the greatest experience at Kinfolk, and truly didn't stop talking about it all weekend. It was the first and only appointment that really made me feel comfortable and special as a bride. It was an experience similar to how I always dreamed bridal shopping would be, but better. Mayana has done such an incredible job curating her space, her designers and the whole experience intentionally, and that is not easy to come by. I could go on and on, but will leave it at -- go to Kinfolk!

I cannot recommend Kinfolk Bride enough! I've tried on a few dresses before coming here and honestly just didn't think I was a big "wedding person". Turns out I just wasn't shopping at the right places. Mayana pulled a dress I would have never picked for myself and when I tried it on my mom and me both burst into tears- turns out we're both big wedding people after all :) This place will make you feel like the most beautiful bride and Mayana has a gift for finding the perfect dress.

I had a great experience at Kinfolk Bride. My appointment was personal and comfortable and the space was awesome. Mayana is a total pleasure to work with and went out of her way to accommodate my preferences. She made good recommendations, paid attention to what I liked, and gave me lots of options to customize the dresses accordingly. The dresses were beautiful, high quality, and unlike the designer selection at any of the other places I've been to in the area. I would definitely recommend Kinfolk to any Philly brides. My sister said “yes” to the dress yesterday and I can say enough about how wonderful this experience was. The space is bright and gorgeous and Mayana has incredible people skills, she is so warm and kind ( she welcomed our entire family to the studio), and she clearly has a gift for bridal design, and selecting dresses for each bride. The inventory is unparalleled. My sister ended up finding, hands down, the most beautiful wedding dress that I have ever seen! The other dress boutiques that we visited do not even begin to compare! Amazing experience.

My appointment at Kinfolk could not have been more perfect, and that’s not just because I found the dress. Mayana was so personable, knowledgeable, and warm. My mom and I had an excellent experience having the showroom to ourselves with Mayana’s full attention. She was helpful, gave great suggestions, and didn’t put any pressure on us to make a decision if we didn’t want to. Luckily I found the perfect dress, and we all got to celebrate! I seriously cannot say enough about the experience at Kinfolk. Besides having stunning, inclusive dresses, Mayana (the owner) is the most calming/supportive/generally wonderful person ever. I was dreading trying on dresses and this was the first appt I went to. She made the experience an absolute DELIGHT. She was super understanding when I told her I needed the dresses STAT (like, for a September wedding) and was just so understanding. I'm going buy the second dress that I tried on and don't even need to look anywhere else. Truly just could not imagine a better place, and Philly is SO lucky to have this new incredible shop.

I would give Mayana and her GORGEOUS bridal shop a million stars if I could! I'm getting married at Bok and found out about Kinfolk during my venue tour there; I instantly booked an appointment because I just adored the sound of the shop - woman-owned, gender-inclusive, with dresses and styles for all body types. Each brand is hand-picked by Mayana and she curates the. most. stunning. pieces! My mom and sisters joined me at the appointment, and from the moment we walked in, Mayana could not have been more lovely. It was my first time trying on dresses and I was nervous, but her energy and warmth made me feel instantly comfortable. It also turned out to be my ONLY APPOINTMENT because I found the dress of my dreams there!! I truly can't say enough good things about Kinfolk, and I'm eternally grateful to Mayana for giving me a dress experience (and the SICKEST DRESS) above and beyond anything I could have imagined for myself. I had an amazing experience working with Mayana! She is so knowlegable and had a nice selection of dresses. She listened to my comments as I was trying on dresses and pulled out some new ones for me to try that I hadn’t thought of. I’m so excited to wear my dress next year! Her shop space was really cool, and Mayana even took us up to the roof bar afterwards! Really fun experience.

Shopping at Kinfolk was overall the best experience. Mayana is incredible. She’s kind, fun, patient, and supportive. She’s a one woman operation who has set up a beautiful and positive space. It was also very comforting and body positive, where numerical sizes weren’t even in the conversation. Mayana gets almost every brand domestically or locally, which makes this unique experience that much more impressive. This was my first and only stop. Kinfolk is a must that you will not regret.

This was well worth the 2.5 hour drive from DC! Mayana is an expert and such an amazing, caring person. I had found a dream dress and she was able to get a sample to try for my appointment. The space is gorgeous and curated so well. It was a great experience to have the entire space during the appointment. It felt like a very personalized and luxury experience. Mayana had my favorite band playing as we tried everything on and made my group feel like part of the process. She took so much time and effort to get to know me and what I was looking for. The dresses are beautiful and knowing that they’re women owned, local and/or sustainable made me feel great about purchasing a dress. I ended up finding the dress here and am so happy I did! She helped me with rush shipping and some customization too as I needed to move my date up. My dress arrived and it was an almost perfect fit! It was better than I remembered. Can’t wait to wear it for my August wedding.

I had an amazing wedding dress experience at Kinfolk with Mayana!!! I went to 4 other bridal boutiques in Philly and Mayana was by far the best for a number of reasons. The actual gown try-on experience was not rushed or frantic or pushy. Every dress we pulled actually fit - I'm a size 14/16. She allowed me privacy while changing into the gowns and she kept the studio free of any other guests to give us a private experience. The quality of all of the gowns was noticeably better than other retailers which were more expensive anyway! All of her gowns are made in America or Canada, which contributes to the difference in quality. She even squeezed me in for another try-on session after I found the gown I wanted so I could show my mom. She's doing something really special and beyond the gown I chose feeling like it was made for me, I wanted to give her my business over other local chain retailers.
