When we started touring venues, we knew we wanted to get married outside and were looking for somewhere with a beautiful outdoor backdrop. Along the way, we also quickly learned just how important it was to have a good rain plan. Then we pulled up to King Family Vineyards.
Absolutely stunning views? Check. Multiple rain plan options? Double check. Incredible wine? Endless checks!
Gail and Laura were so helpful throughout the entire process. Whenever we were in the Charlottesville area during planning, we would find an excuse to pop by KFV, sometimes completely unannounced, and Laura would always welcome us. Every visit somehow made us even more excited to get married there.
The entire experience was friendly, easy, and everything we hoped for and more. We were lucky enough to have the beautiful outdoor wedding we envisioned, and it truly was the perfect day.
If you’re looking for a well-rounded venue with spectacular views, incredible wine, and a wonderful team, do yourself a favor and tour King Family. You will love it!

Having lived in Charlottesville for three years before wedding planning, we had visited our fair share of the stunning wineries, breweries, and event venues in the area. King Family is no doubt one of the most beautiful, conveniently located to downtown Charlottesville while still tucked away in quiet Crozet, and the Events Team at KFV made planning a breeze. Formerly Juan and now Gail are both professional and a delight to work with. The exterior is a slice of heaven and speaks for itself, and the interior is a beautiful blank canvas for couples to customize. We really loved the space and are so grateful to have gotten married at KFV (which was, conveniently, the first winery we ever visited in Charlottesville)! Our one critique is we wish the getting ready spaces were a bit updated / more accommodating compared to others we saw at potential venues (i.e., beverage fridge, windows or natural light, games for the groomsmen room).

Over the past year, they helped guide us through venue-related questions and needs every step of the way, making the planning process feel much less overwhelming. I especially want to give a shoutout to Kim, whom we worked with regularly throughout the planning process. Her warmth, down to earth demeanor, honesty, and genuine care made her an absolute joy to work with. She always took the time to answer questions, offer guidance, and help us feel confident in our decisions. Our friends and family raved about your vineyard and were completely captivated by the breathtaking scenery and the beautiful event space. A year and a half ago, we looked at a bunch of vineyards in the area...
. Most of the big ones you’ve probably heard of made us feel like line items on a spreadsheet — it didn’t feel like they quite cared about us as human beings, or about our investment. King Family was the complete opposite experience. Juan welcomed us like old friends, and was so touched we were even considering the venue for such a big life milestone. A few of the King Family sons happened to be there, and shared Juan’s enthusiasm for us and our future. It was one of the easiest vendor decisions we ever made. Juan held our hand the entire planning process. He and the KFV team were so flexible with all our wild asks (“can we have butter candles at the reception?” “can we have a live tattoo artist there to surprise our guests with?!”). He approached every single idea with a collaborative mindset. We even dreamed up a last minute wine tasting bar at cocktail hour for our guests (kudos Juan and our planner Adam for that)! I wish I had an entire library’s worth of books to fill because it would truly take that many volumes to properly gush over how embraced and taken care of we felt not just in the planning process — but on our actual wedding day itself. It was beautiful, Juan and his team were so kind and attentive and felt like they were on OUR team, and I would get married there again in a heartbeat. Brides and grooms — HIGHLY recommend saying yes to KFV!

After flying up to the area to pick out our venue almost a year before our wedding date we picked, this was the 7th venue we saw in 3 days and it was love at first site. One thing I do recommend is booking this place as far in advance as you can because it is so popular. There are hotels within 15 minutes of the venue so there is no problem with transportation. Ample parking, friendly staff, and lots of space for whatever you plan to do for your wedding day! Overall, 20/10 would recommend to anyone.

Saturdays in October when we booked our date 18 months out. Throughout the planning process, the events team was so helpful, flexible, and always quick to respond to our emails. Each of our vendors (and potential vendors) were thrilled when we shared that KFV was our venue and would comment on how great they were to work with. On the day of, everything went smoothly, the space looked amazing, and the views and weather were everything we'd hoped for. There were several unique perks to the venue, such as the groomsmen attending a KFV polo match on the day of the wedding, the wedding party participating in a 'burying the bourbon' tradition on the property, a layout that was very conducive to our cocktail style stationed dinner, and multiple rain plan options. Overall, they were the perfect venue for us!

So many of our other vendors work at King Family on a regular basis so that was a huge benefit since we were planning from out of state. The bridal and groom suites on site made getting ready so convenient. The gallery and reception furniture that is already on site helped to create the perfect classy vineyard setting that we were looking for. We couldn't picture hosting our wedding anywhere else and now we have an amazing venue to return to for special occasions and anniversary bottles of wine!

orked directly with Juan and he was very communicative and helpful. They do make you hire a day-of coordinator (that is not provided by the venue) but it 100% worth it. Second, the venue is gorgeous. We chose to hold our ceremony indoors but took photos outdoors and had cocktail hour outdoors and both settings were incredible. You barely need to decorate the reception area because it's so beautiful already. Also, you have access to the firepit for cocktail hour and we did a s'more station! Finally, the wine is delicious. You are required to provide all wine through KFV and it was a huge hit with the guests. I only have two negatives and they were very minor. First, the bridal getting ready suite is somewhat small. I had 6 bridesmaids so we ended up renting an Airbnb to get ready for the day and just did final touches in the venue. Second, KFV doesn't provide a TV or projector/screen. If you want to play a video or have visuals for your toasts, you will have to provide that yourself.

tly with Juan who was absolutely incredible- he was communicative and always worked to make sure that my vision was realized. However, prior to this, the communication was often jumbled and delayed. Planning the wedding at this venue during the pandemic was frustrating at times, and I felt like I was not being heard or accommodated with reasonable requests. I hope that with changes since the pandemic future wedding couples will I have a more positive experience throughout the planning process. At the end of the day, your wedding here will be absolutely gorgeous, you can’t go wrong with the Virginia mountains and the view from King Family.

ing turned orange and red and the pictures were amazing. Other than that, the indoor reception hall was more than big enough for our 110 guests. They provide all the 6' round tables and chairs so you don't have to worry about renting them (linens not included), an outdoor fire pit and an indoor fireplace that you can use, a bridal suite and a grooms room. Grooms room is 6 leather chairs and a giant TV, what more can you ask for? Best of all, they will buy back any wine that you don't use at the end of the night if you don't want to take it home. We opted not to do that because we absolutely love their wine (another plus). Price of the venue is reasonable for everything they do and provide. But better reserve a date fast, we had to get ours a year in advance because they fill up! Great place to get married in Charlottesville.

We had our cocktail hour outside and in the galley area beside the main hall in the Carriage House and then allowed guests to access to the entire space for the reception, which worked out great. It's great that no matter the weather you can have a beautiful wedding at King Family. The photo opportunities are breathtaking between the mountains, the vines, and the polo fields and barn. KFV is one of our favorite vineyards in the area and was long before we got engaged, so getting to get married there was a dream come true for us. All of our guests raved about the rustic elegance of the Carriage House and the delicious wine. The KFV Events team was fantastic to work with (thanks for letting us buy more Crosé, Kelly!!) and every employee seemed really enthusiastic and genuinely excited about our wedding. We also had our Sunday Polo Sendoff the Sunday after our Friday wedding -- if you've never seen polo played live on horses and people-watched all the polo guests in their big hats and Sunday best, you've got to do it at least once! All in all, King was the perfect place for our food and wine themed wedding and we wouldn't have had it anywhere else.

We booked a tour with Kelly and after visiting a few other venues, we knew the other places we looked at even came close in comparison. When it comes down to it, getting married at King Family is a smart decision as they include just about all the furniture rentals you'll need and are financially competitive with most traditional/non-DIY venues in the area. Kelly Bauer (the event manager) is also AMAZING. I've never experienced customer service as good as I did with her -- she always responds in a timely manner, is patient, gives you all the information you need, and is above all a kind and pleasant person to interact with. King Family also allows you to chose a caterer off of their preferred caterers list, which gives you the flexibility to control food and drink costs that you aren't otherwise able to do at other area venues with in-house catering. Best of all, King Family Vineyards offers an experience like no other for your guests. My husband and I live in Charlottesville, and 99% of our guests were out-of-towners. We were so thrilled to be able to show them the place where we live by way of hosting them at King Family. We heard from everyone how breathtakingly gorgeous the views were (in our opinion, the best view of any vineyard) and above all, the wine was delicious. Long story short, if you're thinking of getting married in Charlottesville, King Family Vineyards is one of the best all-around options in terms of beauty, the guest experience, affordability, and flexibility. We may be biased, but we couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, Kelly and team, for an amazing experience we'll never forget!

They have a team of people who work together to provide a positive experience for everyone who visits the Vineyard. We had a lovely cocktail hour and reception with a variety of quality wines poured. The experience was great. With our wine tasting we got to keep our glass. They had 2 full body reds that we got to taste that I bought to take home. Their Seven wine I also bought....
It is a full body red that is aged in old whiskey barrels. My husband loves it. The bartender was knowledgable about the wines. He even gave me a handful of corks from that day (stamped with their vintage) for commemoration to use in art. They also had beautiful art around the tasting room. It was crowded while we were there, but the hostess was able to get us a space to taste quickly, in under 5 minutes. They also do polo matches in the fall. We stayed and enjoyed the foliage and a bottle of their merlot.

er, Matt. They will help you figure out what your needs are for your celebration and accommodate anything they possibly can! Their list of recommended vendors is especially helpful when trying to narrow down your options and you can be comforted knowing that KFV would only include the best vendors in that list! We are so happy we selected KFV because it inspired the most perfect wedding day we could have had. The venue is also fantastic because it is one of the few where you can have an indoor, winter wedding - many wineries only offer outdoor ceremony options, but getting married in front of the fireplace at KFV might just be the most romantic thing you could do. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had always loved King Family Vineyards and had spent many happy times there. I always secretly wanted to get married there because it was such a beautiful location...

So, when Ryan proposed, I instantly knew that was the place for us! We held both our ceremony and reception at the vineyards in August and Anne, Shawn, and the Kings were exceptionally wonderful to deal with throughout the entire process. Anne was especially patient when answering all of my questions and very quick to respond to me and flexible when running our decor and layout ideas by her. They also provide the chairs and multiple tables for the reception and ceremony, as well as wine barrels, so that is a huge help!
We heard so much positive feedback from our friends and family about the beauty of the location and the fun that came from having such a great celebration at a vineyard! One of my close friends got engaged soon after our wedding and he and his fiancé decided to book their wedding at King Family after seeing our wedding there as well.
It's a great choice! We are excited to be back to visit soon :)

I knew that I wanted to have our wedding at a winery and looked at many, and this is one of the few that truly caters to weddings. It has its own separate venue space which many do not have and it is very nice on the inside as well. Yes it is expensive to have here but in my opinion it is well worth the money-everyone who attended keeps raving about how beautiful it was. The wine is a bit pricey but they are very good-they also will buy back any wine you have leftover, provided that it is not sold out. Hands down, best venue to have a wedding!

t beautiful wedding they'd ever been to - even though it was 40 degrees outside and we still had the ceremony outside! Totally worth it. The staff there is friendly and helpful - don't rely too much on the day-of helper, they won't do much to help you plan - they're more there for your caterer and DJ to help with setup and tear down. The prices are a little steep - $6000 rental for a peak season Saturday night. You'll save $1000 by going Friday or Sunday, but we wanted the Saturday night spot. All around, though, the perfect day. I wouldn't imagine getting married anywhere else!
