Finding the venue for your wedding is one of the first things couples need to decide on, and it can be a disheartening experience when you are confronted with an enormous baseline cost. My husband and I were planning a wedding in Rhode Island ...
from across the country, and we spoke with many venues that had absolutely astronomical baseline costs for a more all-inclusive (catering, cake, alcohol etc.) experience. We went with Kinney Bungalow because it is absolutely unique and gorgeous (the idea of a reception hall makes me gag), allows for flexibility (we could pick the caterer we really wanted- Crazy Burger FTW), had a reasonable price, and Daisy MacLeod was responsive and wonderful to work with. Unlike an all-inclusive hall, you may need to do a little more legwork to hire vendors like caterers, bartenders and rentals. My husband and I actually liked this aspect, since it allowed us to customize for the wedding we wanted. Daisy worked with our schedule so we could visit Kinney Bungalow and was incredibly available and responsive to all of our questions. The actual wedding day was absolutely perfect- we had about 90 guests, which felt great for the space. We had to switch our plan A of getting married outside under the archway to a plan B of having the ceremony in front of the fireplace indoors (a thunderstorm started to brew as soon as my husband and I arrived at the bungalow). This ended up being fantastic, and many guests commented that the ceremony was beautiful, romantic and intimate indoors. We could not have been happier with Kinney Bungalow- it was the perfect setting for an incredible day.

second we walked in. We had a couple more tours booked, but in my heart I knew we’d end up here. Daisy MacLeod the event coordinator for KB is the nicest person to work with! We had a minor hiccup the day of, the attendant wasn’t at the venue to open it up right on time, but we made a quick call to Daisy who ran into action and was at the venue within 10 minutes! The inside is absolutely gorgeous and doesn’t need a lot added as part of decor, which was important to me. I cannot say enough good things about Kinney Bungalow!

We were married at Kinney Bungalow in Narragansett, RI. I cant say enough about the venue coordinator Daisy, as well as the Kinney staff there for the wedding, they were so accommodating and kind through the whole planning process! Kinney is an...
event space only, and while they have a preferred list of vendors they do allow you the flexibility to choose your own vendors as long as you submit an outside vendor form for approval which let us truly personalize our day from start to finish. This was perfect for us however does require a bit of extra work! The venue itself is on Sunset Farm which made a beautiful backdrop for our wedding. Their ceremony space has hedges around it that were just starting to turn green by the time we got married which gave a bit of privacy, and they are also growing more hedges to make the space even more private from the main road. There was space to do lawn games and have an outdoor cocktail hour which we were hoping for. The inside of the venue itself is a very interesting layout, with a beautiful large center staircase and nice lighting. Even our guests' photos came out beautiful I think just from the lighting, and the space is so beautiful on its own that I think it allows you to do a bit less in décor! We viewed a couple of venues before choosing Kinney and we are so happy we went with them, the venue is truly unique and beautiful.

s and that we could drop off all our decorations the night before at the rehearsal. The week of the wedding it was impossible to get a hold of her and her assistant would only answer by e-mail during the hours of 8-4:30, when the town is open. When you are running events, you need to be available by cell phone at off hours and need to return phone calls! No one showed up for our rehearsal at the farm to open the doors to the building. It was raining, we had to run through a quick rehearsal on our own and the decorations had to be put back in cars and the cake stand and the pew bows never made it back to the wedding with all the confusion. It was very upsetting and stressful on a day when you should be enjoying the best moments of your life. Our wedding day was gorgeous and perfect due to our love and that of our family and friends. We were told we could take pictures any where, as I know the farmer who runs the other part of the property, Daisy had told us that she would clear it with him and I believed her. As we were out in the fields of corn taking rustic, awesome pictures, the farmer came out and stearnly told us we shouldn't be there and was very upset! I was embarrased and felt awful that we thought we could be there and we were NOT! I sent him and his wife an apologie after the fact. This should not happen on your wedding day. The staff at the bungalow are not wedding planners, they are not event professionals and the details that are missed are major ones. They are only there to receive checks, lay out the rules and open doors if you are lucky. We were charged $50 for an outside set up fee and my friends had to take dead flowers off of the wedding arch and set up the chairs that we also had to pay for. If you choose to get married here and it is beautiful, double check everything or hire your own wedding planner.

We appreciate the review and taking the time to share your concerns regarding the operation of Kinney Bungalow at Sunset Farms. We work each day to satisfy the needs of our customers. We take your concerns very seriously. We strongly believe th...
at review from our customer and critiques after events by our staff only improve our venue overall. However, some of your statements are simply incorrect. Permission is never given to use all of the grounds for pictures. During tours, I explain that you have access to the venue, and the two surrounding courtyards. I also explain that pictures in front of the Farm House and Farm Stand are welcome. However, we do require that you reach out to the Farrell’s (the family that lives on the property) prior to your event for further picture permission. You had stated that you were close friends with the Farrell’s and would reach out. We did discuss dropping items off the night before. However, after changing your rehearsal time twice, it was concluded that you were not able to organize your group all together at the same time, and would pass on rehearsal. From what I understand, someone was on site the night before, however no calls or emails came to my office letting me know that anyone was trying to get in. Contrary to your statements, I am constantly reviewing emails outside of my normal work hours. Voicemails are also sent directly to my email. Therefore, if someone had reached out while at the venue the night before, we may have been able to solve the confusion. On the morning of your event, my assistant was there for your Maid of Honor for complimentary hours of setup time, in hopes to make up for the issues the night before. Correct, the staff at the bungalow are NOT wedding planners, but Event Attendants. There are strictly there to monitor the building. Ceremony items including tables and chair are setup by my staff, IF weather permits. If those items were not setup before your 2-hour setup time, it was the responsibility of your caterer to do so. While I understanding your frustration, and disappointments on such a special day, it is important that this information is correct. Thank you again for you review. We hope to take your comments and apply them in a positive way!

rst got engaged. Probably because the Bungalow was one of the first places I found on The Knott and I absolutely fell in love with it. We spend a lot of our time in the summer in Newport/Narragansett so it seemed to fit us well. We went down there one afternoon and met with Lisa so she could show us around and tell us a little bit about the place. Lisa was very nice and definitely seemed to know a lot about the venue. Just know that the Bungalow is rather on the small side. They say 150 people max and 130 people comfortably. But take it from someone who just got married there. 150 people would be way to much! We had about 108 and that would probably be the most I would have there. You could probably do 120 comfortably. We did a cocktail styled wedding so we didn't have a seating chart, people kind of just sat where they wanted. It was one of the best ideas we had. People mingled and danced all night, which is what we wanted. Overall I would say if you are looking for a do it your self type wedding, the Kinney Bungalow is perfect. You bring in your own cateror and they take care of most of the setting up work (if you choose a good one, and one that has done the venu before) It was a little stressfull morning of trying to figure out where I wanted everything, Just make sure you have lots of help. (mother, bridesmaids..etc.) You will need it on top of the catering company! Lisa was pretty easy going when we needed to get in there a little earlier then expected. Just know they are strict with a few things though. Certain décor and you need to have everything out of the venue that night. So like I said lots of help is a must! I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a rustic/historic/classic type wedding!

My husband and I were looking for something non traditional for our wedding venue. We didn't want to get married somewhere everyone else had already been married. We also didn't want the famous tacky carpeting you see in every reception hall ...
everywhere. I came across The Kinney Bungalow on TheKnot and immediately fell in love with its rustic feel. Living in Connecticut, our guests were a little unsure why we chose a venue a few hours away in Rhode Island, but upon arriving at our ceremony everyone knew why. This place is gorgeous! There are floor to ceiling windows, original woodwork and wood floors from the 1800's and a brick fireplace. It is adjacent to a fully functioning farm. The venue only holds 150 guests, which keeps your event small enough to be intimate but big enough not to leave everybody off your guest list. You can get married on site on the lawn, and have use of the surrounding lawn areas for cocktail hours, pictures etc (unfortunately no use of the farm!). The only draw back is you are solely renting the space; you have to bring everything else in yourself (I however preferred this seeing as it gave me a blank canvas to really create what I had in mind for our special day). They do offer rentals for chairs and tables should you decide to use what they have. They also have a great list of recommended vendors that are used to working in the historic conditions of the building (i.e. old kitchen). The building is owned by the town, and our contact throughout the process was friendly. She was very accessible in the last couple weeks leading up to our ceremony to make sure we had everything all set to go. All in all we had an amazing experience at the Bungalow and were so thrilled to get married there. The raw beauty of the venue and surrounding area made for truly wonderful memories and spectacular wedding photos :) I would recommend the Bungalow in a heartbeat if you're looking for something a little different and to wow your guests.

Let me start off by saying I would not change our venue location, Kinney Bungalow is a gorgeous place and it fit us really well. I will say that I was not thrilled with the coordinator, Lisa. When we first signed our contract, we had anothe...
r coordinator who was absolutely wonderful. She left and I was not notified of this until I randomly sent an email out one day. First, H and I went to the bungalow one day to meet the new coordinator, and I asked a couple of questions and she sarcastically asked if she was on a job interview. Second, one year into our contract we were informed we had to buy general liability insurance due to 'recent changes with the town'. That shouldn't have been our concern because nothing was stated in the contract, but we went ahead and paid it. Third- it states in the contract that they prefer to use Liberty Rentals as their rental company, but it also says as long as another rental company drops off and picks up during the allotted times, if Liberty does not have what we need we could get it from another rental company. We had a situation about a week before the wedding where I forgot to order the champagne glasses. I called Liberty and they were out of stock because they were being used. I emailed Lisa and told her this problem, and she said it would not be allowed to rent from another company and they 'just changed their rules as it states in the contract they can do at any time'. I would understand if Liberty had them, but they did not. I found her supervisors phone number myself after not getting a response from her about it, and only after having a long conversation with him did she grant a one time exception. On another note, I would add that we had a guest count of 122. I would not have an event with more than 125 people because of the space. Like I said, I would not change where we had our wedding because it really was gorgeous, but I was not fond of the planning experience there.

dn't recommend going much higher than that (the max capacity is 150). My husband is an architect and he was extremely impressed by the building itself, as were our guests. There is no AC and it did get hot, but with all of the huge windows open and the breeze coming through it wasn't too bad. It is an absolutely beautiful place to get married, we got some gorgeous photos there. Kinney Bungalow is a historical site, so all your correspondence goes through Narragansett Parks and Recs. My only complaint with that is between booking the venue and our wedding date, the coordinator position was changed. I ended up finding out through another of our vendors, and then it was another couple of weeks before anyone there notified me. Then, as we got closer, I was receiving emails asking for my balance from someone OTHER than the coordinator, which was sort of off-putting and confusing. I'm imagining they are going through some transitions with the changing of the position, and I imagine this will get better over time. But if you book them I would just advise you to stay on top of them so that you don't end up having similar confusions.

Our reception was held here in May. We choose this location because we both went to college in the area. It was the perfect place for our wedding. We had cocktail hour on the lawn, which was beautiful because we get to look up at the building; ...
the outside is just as nice as the inside. If you have cocktail hour outside defiantly provide flip-flops, your guest’s heels will sink into the grass. Our guests raved about the inside of the venue and how different and beautiful it was. You don't need to go crazy with decorations because of the simple beauty of the room. The only thing about this place that could be better is the fact that the kitchen is small, you will probably have to pay your caterers to bring in a stove and the bathrooms could use a face-lift. If you're looking for a different and beautiful location this is the place.

re on October 10th,2011. It was a HOT-Fall day!! I believe it reached 87 degrees. Our Ceremony was beautiful, it was a bit too hot during our reception. We happened to have just about zero wind that day, or else it would have been a perfect breeze through those huge windows. I got so hot, I ended up getting sick and missed part of my reception. :( Otherwise, everything went so smooth and perfect. We didn't have to do much to decorate, Kinney Bungalow is just simply beautiful. It will forever be a special place for my husband and I. The only downfall, would be that after our catering cost and the price to rent their tables, chairs, set up fee, security deposit and rental fee for the very short 5 hours we had the place, we ended up paying what most other venues charge. BUT, you can't go wrong with this location!! So in that aspect, it was totally worth it for us. I would just suggest paying the extra for more time, cause 5 hours flew by!!

The Kinney Bungalow was the only venue we visited while planning our wedding and the only one we needed to visit. The integrity of this building is like no other. Narragansett Parks and Recreation have done an AMAZING job keeping this beautiful...
building in impeccable shape. The history of the building is quite interesting and I urge you to visit the Kinney Bungalow website to read about it. You owe it to yourself to visit this venue even if at first glance you think it's 'not for you'. All of our 120 guests complimented us on our great choice of venue and commented on how different our wedding had been from any other wedding they had attended in the past [in a good way]. The staff [especially Brandi-the Kinney Bungalow coordinator], are also a joy to work with and we are eternally grateful for all of their help.

In the month of July, my husband and I had the most magical wedding at Kinney Bungalow. Living in Florida and getting married in Narragansett, I thought, would be quite the challenge. Not the case. Brandie (the property coordinator) made it sup...
er easy and not stressful at all. She was very accommodating and had great advice for utilizing the property to its full potential. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The property seemed to have a million different, beautiful locations for photo ops. Sunset at Kinney Bungalow is stunning! Also, being located in Narragansett; it gave the wedding a "New England" feel to it; which, was one of my goals for my big day. Overall, the experience was amazing and I feel absolutely blessed to have found (at least for me) the most perfect vendor. No regrets at all. :0)

We were very happy here, it was a great setting. Indoor ceremony due to rain ended up being perfect and it was nice to have a secure back up plan.

Loved it! Brandi, the coordinator, was always easy to get in touch with through phone or email, and was very helpful in making a layout and arranging rentals. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and doesn't need much in terms of decoration,...
but it is a little oddly shaped. I think the layout makes it a little more intimate, but isn't good if you want sweeping views of your reception. We had our ceremony in the yard in the back, and the reception inside. We had 65 guests, and had plenty of space for dancing/tables/milling around.

Kinney Bungalow was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We wanted a small-to-medium sized wedding, in an historical building. We wanted to be able to stay within budget. We had about 75 guests, and we were able to visit with everyone. Peopl...
e were able to dance and have conversations, and not be packed in like sardines. Brandi helped us quite a bit with the floor plan, had excellent suggestions about the timing of the typical wedding day events. She was great to work with, and didn't mind us calling her several times, asking stupid details about the venue. Overall, the experience was magical!

ow beautiful and relaxing our reception was. I attribute this to hardwoods, fireplace, and windows at Kinney which created a perfect backdrop. I have read that some brides worry about the layout of Kinney but I actually prefered it to other venues I had been to. The unique layout lets guests enjoy a place to dance as well as a quiter place to relax and chat the night away.

nterior of Kinney had just enough room for our 150+ guests to dine and dance. Brandi was very easy to work with and everything was very reasonably priced - in fact this may be one of the most value-added places to host a reception.
