Kirkpatrick Chapel was pretty much the first thing we chose for our wedding, before we were even engaged. It's not only mere blocks from where my husband & I met while I was an und...
ergrad at Rutgers, but it's the very chapel my parents were wed in 30 years ago!
Patrick Kogan was fabulous - responsive, professional, and friendly. He gave us so much of the historical background when we met with him for a tour, and was just a pleasure to be around. He even set up a very thorough FAQ section on the chapel website, with pew/aisle dimensions and everything! For our rehearsal and wedding ceremony, we were assisted by Lauren, who we adored. She was helpful and cheery, and even jumped in a selfie with my bridesmaids! We also hired their recommended organist, Renee Louprette, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the classic organ music we chose meant music cues for bridal party, etc were easy!
I would tell couples to plan ahead for the timeslots - you get to choose an hour & half slot, which sounds like a lot of time, but isn't quite! We chose the 2-3:30pm afternoon slot. Our ceremony start time on invitations was 2:30, meaning the friends who volunteered to set up decor had very little time, maybe 15 min, before guests started arriving. We opted for very little decoration because the chapel itself is so visually striking - just ribbon strung along the pews, our unity ceremony items, and an aisle runner (they did not have time to lay out the aisle runner, but heck I didn't even notice on the day!) Our ceremony *really* started closer to 2:45, was fairly short, and we had just enough time to greet guests and do family photos before our time was up. Not that they would have kicked us off the property had we gone over! They were very fair, but the historic nature of the building and the length of the timeslots meant there were rules to be aware of.
Ultimately, it meant so much to us to have our ceremony in this beautiful and (for us) sentimental chapel.
I was so pleased with the service I received for our wedding day. The staff of the chapel was excellent. The grounds are beuatiful for pictures and the inside of the chapel was ve...
