We loved having our wedding at Kirkwood! It was the most beautiful venue and the staff were so nice! It was wonderful being able to have the ceremony and reception all at the same ...
site! Kirkwood also has a ton of lodging so all our guest were able to stay within walking distance to the party! Catering is wonderful too!
My husband and I had our wedding here last July, and it is still one of the best days of our lives not only because of how special it was but because of how beautiful Kirkwood and ...
the staff was. If you’re looking to fulfill your dreams of getting married outside and feeling luxurious yet outdoorsy - this is the place.
At the food tasting we were able to choose exactly what food we wanted at the wedding and it was delicious, I highly recommend doing this. You get to meet the chef and is overall such a fun time.
Our coordinator was amazing! She kept us on time and made me feel super special as a bride. Thank you again for everything!
We are so glad we chose Kirkwood for our wedding weekend! Gorgeous setting, wonderful staff (including Ashley, the wedding coordinator), delicious food, and well priced for all yo...
u get. We searched all over Northern CA for a place where all 150 guests could comfortably stay for the full weekend, and Kirkwood fulfilled all our hopes. We had the place basically to ourselves, which made for a really special vibe all weekend long.
The chef made a special menu for us and accommodated lots of dietary restrictions. There was an issue with some of the lodgings (one building wasn't heated since it was summer, and it was unseasonably cold at night), but the staff moved people to other lodgings as needed. Many guests told us how great the staff were, including in dealing with this snafu. There are lots of different places to stay at Kirkwood (which is a plus, though can be confusing), and reservation staff were great at helping everyone book lodging that worked for them - from hotel-style rooms to 3-bedroom condos.
Ashley and the staff were very positive, flexible, and helpful as we had lots of details to attend to, tweaks and changes to their normal routine, extra decorations, etc. They even arranged the outside desserts that we brought for two separate events.
Do plan ahead for the altitude and warn your guests, as many of our guests felt it (and that was without any alcohol at our wedding, which makes people MUCH more sensitive to altitude). We made herbal altitude remedies and electrolyte tablets available at reception along with our gift bags, which the staff were happy to accommodate. People used them all up!
Kirkwood exceeded our expectations. We were slightly worried about how secluded it was from any stores and restaurants but it really has everything you need right there. We had din...
ner at Kirkwood inn on the Thursday before our wedding and the staff was so nice and the food was tasty. Then we would just go to the general store for breakfast sandwiches in the morning. The day of our wedding, there was a lot of wind and they were able to pull the tables in super last minute and still made everything look wonderful. The ceremony site and venue don’t even need much decoration because the scenery is so beautiful. The food was delicious and our coordinator Ashley made sure everything was running on time and smoothly. Our family and friends only had great things to say as well! I would recommend for any couples who really want the dinner to be outside to shoot for a wedding in August because it would be slightly warmer and possibly not as windy.
My husband and I were married at Kirkwood this past August and we could not have been happier that this is the place we chose.

hoe in it's own magical setting. We decided to make a weekend event of our wedding considering the destination. Guests arrived on Friday & everyone stayed in the village - we felt like we had the mountain to ourselves (we basically did)! People were able to enjoy hiking, mountain biking, swimming (lakes down the road), etc., all while running into friends and family along the way. They loved it!
Our wedding was about 210 people and Kirkwood was able to accommodate us at a few different venues around the property. On Friday, we did the rehearsal dinner followed by the welcome party at Red Cliffs Lodge. On Saturday, we had our ceremony in the meadow, followed by the reception in front of the Wall Bar. They have a nice sized patio that fit all of our tables and the dance floor, surrounded by string lights. It got chilly at night (as Tahoe does), but with the heaters & fire pits, dancing & being able to go in & out of The Wall Bar, people were fine. We ended the night with an after party at The Cornice Bar & Grill. The next morning, we had coffee & bagels in the village which gave us a chance for one last goodbye.
The food at Kirkwood exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the tasting weekend, so we were nervous... but we made our selections, crossed our fingers, and it was all AMAZING. We had passed & plated apps, and went with the BBQ buffet dinner. People didn't stop raving about the food - it was seriously SO GOOD!
Truthfully, I think it was the staff that made our wedding what it was. Shannon Proper was our wedding coordinator from the start. She made us feel like we were the only wedding of the year. She was always available, always followed through, and helped make our weekend as perfect and seamless as possible. Brad Lodge was the next best guy - our banquet captain for the weekend. Brad was with us at each event throughout the weekend and, like Shannon, made sure everything went as smooth as possible. I never even considered the possibility of such great service throughout the weekend - it was such a welcomed surprise!
And, of course, the natural beauty and laid back feel of Kirkwood are hard to beat. We felt like we were really able to focus on our marriage and the friends and family we were sharing it with - the details needed are so minimal! Our guests could not stop talking about what a magical setting it was. We loved Kirkwood!
