Welcome to Kismet House, an idyllic wedding venue and hideaway only 15 minutes from downtown New Paltz, NY. Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, surrounded by our apple orchards and hidden away by the lush landscape that spans our site, Kismet House is your retreat, sanctuary, and dream. It is the perfect place to say “I do.”
As you arrive at the entrance to Kismet House, you’ll be greeted by our private drive, leading you directly to our communal fireplace, framed by each of our accommodations. Our main house is tailored and designed as a home away from home for our wedding parties and can host up to 14 people. Whether you stay overnight or use our “get ready rooms” on the day of, our space provides respite before the fun. With our 2 other houses, perfect for friends and family, just steps away from the main house, we can host up to 24 people overnight.
Across all of Kismet House, we can accommodate 250 guests, with several locations designed with versatility, ceremony, reception, or both, whatever your wedding dream may be.
A meandering 10-minute woodland stroll along our trail from the main house takes you to our private pond, seemingly a perfect, hidden world away from everything. The pond has been our beloved spot for our guests’ ceremonies. With ample seating space, a sunset backdrop with reflections on the water makes for stunning memories and beautiful photographs.
The centerpiece of our property is our Big Red Barn, complete with its own detached Small Red Bar to ensure your guests have dedicated access to hydration throughout your reception. Newly restored, we’ve rebuilt our barn to be the perfect backdrop for your ceremony or the following festivities. A hop away lands you on our lawn, the classic home for any tented event, given its proximity to the Small Red Bar and our fireplace for those end-of-the-night moments of conversation and shared experience. Kismet House is here for indoor, outdoor, tented, and everything-in-between wedding dreams.
Events at Kismet House can be hosted over the weekend, including your ceremony and reception, starting from welcome drinks to farewell brunches and everything in between. There are plenty of facilities available, with parking for up to 75 cars on the grounds, a dedicated day-of event coordinator to provide a seamless experience during your stay, and a preferred list of caterers and partners that we can gladly share. We also offer the option of bringing in your vendors if desired. Alcohol can be brought in, and we will be happy to help book any additional on-site staff and other rentals through our vendors if that makes things more accessible, as well.

ble to fit our closest friends and family all on site with us for our celebration plus there was plenty of parking for our other guests who were staying in local hotels. The ceremony site at the pond was beyond beautiful and our reception was spent between the tent we had set up on the main lawn and the barn for cocktail hour and dancing.
It truly was perfect and Justin was such a pleasure to work with! He was personable, welcoming, easy to work with, and gave us lots of wonderful suggestions when we asked for advice or needed local knowledge.

here it was decided (some might call it fate) our beginning would start at the Kismet House. The planning and coordination of Justin and the team were flawless. Our day, the property, and everything involved was PERFECT. We loved the ceremony placement, the barn, and the houses on site. We felt comfortable throughout the entire process. We would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. We wish Justin and his team endless years of success! We hope one day to return and have an event again (maybe an anniversary). esque, the outdoor reception was beyond beautiful… and we had an absolute blast in the barn at the after party (her DJ was incredible). Most of us in the bridal party were all able to stay at the house on site which was super convenient after a long night of celebrating. My room at the main house also had everything I needed to get ready the morning of including a vanity table with light up mirrors! I highly reccomend this venue for any future brides looking for a venue that’s close enough to the city, has ample space for family and friends to spend the night, and offers the flexibility to make any vision you may have for your wedding day possible.

The property and building styles definitely lend themselves well to more natural, organic or rustic aesthetics and themes but I can definitely see the potential for going far beyond what’s expected.
The wedding party and family members were able to stay onsite — so convenient!! Guests were able to explore the property at their leisure and take advantage of the scenery for natural photo backdrops and conversation settings.
FWIW The catering was top notch!! People were literally stuffing their faces— not your average wedding chicken!
