Kristel has an option where you can book her for the whole wedding day which came in useful because during the ceremony guests who had their makeup done by her were crying and needed touching up. A few days before that date (that I scheduled 3 months in advance), she sends me an email (not a call or a text) to say she has to push my time back from the morning to the afternoon, and thanked me for being understanding. But she didn't ask me ahead of time. She just changed my time. I had to reschedule everything with my photographer because of this. My fiance was flying in early from his bachelor party for this date that's why it was such a big deal. If that wasn't bad enough, on the rescheduled date and time, turns out only a makeup person and not a hair person would be available. I found that out the day before. Which meant I unexpectedly had to do my own hair for a professional photo shoot. In addition, that meant I had to go back into the studio at a later date to get both my hair and makeup done for a full trial before the wedding. Then when I finally make it to the hair and makeup trial, even though she asked me to put together a pinterest lookbook for makeup/hair ideas, on the day of my appointment it was clear she hadn't looked it at. She asked what I had in mind when I had sent that to her weeks before at her request. After all of that you would think that she would be more responsive. However, I had to ask her a simple question 3 times (what color/type of hair should I purchase, what is the schedule for the wedding-needed it in writing to send to my wedding party). It would be one thing if there were documented email/phone records showing I was an unreasonable, ridiculous human being (constant calling and texting, late night calls etc...) However, I had minimal contact with her and basic expectations I would have from any vendor; basic expectations which all of my other vendors easily met. If you email them or call or text you get a response in 24 to 72 hours. That's not alot to ask. I didn't even have a large wedding party (3 for hair, 5 for makeup). I also didn't have some fixed idea of what perfect looked like for my wedding. The only emails I sent were just about scheduling/prep for the wedding. As a result, I made the decision to completely change my hair and makeup vendor 3 weeks before my wedding because I just did not feel secure. That's how big of a deal this was. I was terrified but it was the best decision I could have made given what my experience had been. The new vendors took their time (45 to 1.5hrs for makeup per person, 2hrs for my hair), when I felt I was being rushed before. My new makeup vendor took professional photos with lighting so I could see how the makeup would look with the photographer. All in all, the most unfortunate thing is that KD Beauty does excellent work. I think they need to hire someone to manage their schedule so they aren't rushing hair/makeup (right after my hair and makeup trial another bride came in before I was even done). My wedding for whatever reason just fell through the cracks and they were not responsive.

I got my hair and makeup done, along with my matron of honor. And they also did hair for 3 other members of my bridal party and we all got exactly what we were wanting and hoping for. They really do bring your bridal beauty visions to life. All while being some of the nicest, funnest people ever.

I bought some extensions which Kristel gave me recommendations on and they were great quality and easy for them to install. Last minute I decided to add one more person for make-up on the wedding day and Kristel was able to accommodate which was beyond incredible. They really created such a perfect look and made me feel so special, and constantly asked to make sure I was satisfied with my look because it was the most important thing to them which was exceptional! Not to mention they are expertly skilled! The make-up itself felt light on my face like I wasn't even wearing anything and lasted all night! Overall very very happy with their service and I doubt anyone could do any better because they were perfect! Please do yourself a favor since you're reading reviews and reach out to Kristel and her team, you will not be disappointed!

&D Beauty by my wedding planner. Sure, I wear normal day-to-day makeup, your typical foundation + concealer, draw some eyebrows, draw some eyeliner, slap some blush & contour and that's all. Do I know makeup? I know enough for the basic needs; I have the same makeup routine for work, for "special occasions", for birthdays, for anything. Its safe to say, my makeup knowledge is limited. I heard a lot of "oh brides should pinterest around what wedding look they would want" and "brides should know what looks good and what doesn't". Yeah that's a hard NO for me. I thought I would know what I want, but I don't. I don't know if a smokey eye would look good on me, I don't know if shimmer would look good on me, I only know what my Sephora sales lady tells me to buy, I go buy it. I pinterest'd around, saved some pins on what I think I would want, made sure I did my homework before going to my trial with Kristel. And let me tell you - Kristel understands my pain of not knowing what I should do with my make up. She didn't ask for an inspiration picture and just recreate the look, copy & paste it on my face. She took the time and asked me "what do you like from this picture and that picture", to learn about why I like what, and from there, create a look that FITS me. During the trial, we laughed, joked, and she was beyond patient with me and my teary eye because again - I do not wear eyeshadows. I'm not used to having a brush touching my lower eyelids, but Kristel handled it like a champ, giving me breathing tricks to help calm my eyes (yeah did you know, there are breathing techniques to help with watery eyes? i sure didn't know that!). I'm asian, so I have yellow undertone skin. I wrapped up my trial with a peachy/ orange/ bronze tone eyeshadow, a color that I thought would NEVER work on my yellowish skin, but it was the MOST BEAUTIFUL MAKEUP I've ever had on me! Not only was it too pretty to take off, my skin DID NOT BREAK OUT from all the makeup afterwards! On my wedding day, not only did Kristel recreated my trial look with ease, the makeup stayed MATTE (as I wanted) and my wrinkles in between my eyebrows (like when you have angry eyebrows) NEVER CREASED, its like i got botox and they never showed up the entire day! I had an outdoor wedding, in July, and it was H-O-T. But my makeup stayed on the whole time, and I was NEVER oily! Okay enough about makeup, I have to also give kudos to Nikki, my hair god. I have natural wavy hair (2B to be exact), and it never holds curls. It doesn't matter which hair salon I go to, my hair just never stay curled for more than 2 hours. But not if Nikki is doing my hair! My hair trial (same style as wedding day) stay curled for 3 days, and my wedding hair stay curled for 5 days. FIVE freaking days (okay I did put it up in a bun starting day 3)!! Nikki also did all of my bridesmaids hair, and all I told her was "please give my bridesmaids a low messy bun", and voila, everyone got a low messy bun, even the bridesmaid that had shoulder-length hair got a low messy bun! How? Its because Nikki knows what she is doing! She came prepared with anything and everything you can think of for hair styling, and did all 6 bridesmaids hair in just 2 hours! HIGHLY RECOMMEND K&D Beauty!

I couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. They have been super flexible during Covid and provided amazing service. Kristel made all of my bridesmaids feel 100% and me too. She helped us look and feel our best (plus she is a great hype woman). Michelle knows hair and has the talent to prove it. I had a bridesmaid whose hair doesn’t hold curls very well and she did amazing making her bun look flawless. I had another bridesmaid with quite short hair and once Michelle was done you would have never guessed my bridesmaid had short hair. These two are the best in their business.

But Kristel, Anna and Briana handled me like a champ, and took my little to no direction and gave me amazing hair and makeup trials, and THE LOOK I was going for but couldn’t put into words on my big day. To top it all off, they are the sweetest beings and I could not wait to spend my day with them. All my bridesmaids adored them as well, and we all loved our looks!! On the day of my wedding, Kristel brought a makeup/day of touch up kit that I was able to use for my lips and beyond (all of the contents were so useful and thoughtful). Every detail was nicely laid out prior to the wedding as well so it was definitely a worry free day. All in all, I was very very happy with my makeup and the patience Kristel and Dani had with me during the evolution of the look I wanted. They were professional and the makeup look achieved was of natural enhanced beauty. Never did I feel like I had a ton of makeup on and I'm pretty aware of the feeling of most standard makeup on my face (I usually use only mineral based natural products). The kind touch of a "go bag" with small tin of mints and a small tube of lipstick for touch up was very thoughtful and appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend K&D Beauty for your special day!
