Knockaz Brass Band

Knockaz Brass Band performed the second line for our wedding reception. They arranged the permits and police escort for us, which made the whole process very smooth. Their music was fun and energetic, and our guests had a great time dancing and parading through the streets. They even joined forces with our lion dance group in the second line, playing jazz along with the Chinese drums. Knockaz delivered a unique experience that surpassed all of our expectations!

Herman and the band were spectacular! We hired them to make the route and handle permitting in addition to being the band for our second line. He was responsive, professional, and experienced. The music was great and the guests had so much fun!

We decided to do a second line after our reception so we could continue the party elsewhere. It was one of the most talked about experiences during our wedding weekend! Deciding to do a second line with Knockaz Brass Band was one of the best decisions we made! When I tell you that you will not regret it, I’m being completely serious. Like every bead of sweat streaming down our faces/bodies was well worth it. They took care of permits, planned the route, and entertained the heck out of all of us. It has only been 1.5 months since our wedding but people still talk about this experience. Definitely throw in the extra cash for a grand marshal - he was pretty awesome. Highly recommend!! We had a small destination wedding in New Orleans, and decided to do a second line to Bourbon Street for an after party. Being from Massachusetts, none of our guests had experienced a second line before. They planned the route for us which made planning from a distance so easy, and our guests LOVED it (so did we)!

Very professional and responded in a timely manner even during Hurricane Ida. Due to the Covid and Hurricane Ida we had to postpone our wedding 2 months later . Talk about a stressed out of state bride . Knockaz Brass Band was able to accommodate my new wedding date with no problem . Once the band came out OMG everyone was amazed. We had the Tramps(Indian dancers ) along with the band was amazing . Everyone was synced so well with each other . My wedding guest had a great time and still talking about today . We planned our wedding from out of state and wanted to keep New Orleans traditions as much as possible. We hired Knockaz to perform our ceremony music and later our wedding party surprised us by hiring them for a small second line parade at City Park. They were absolutely my favorite part of the day! The band was well dressed and very professional. They played amazing and went with the flow of the ceremony and parade. Their prices were so affordable and worth every penny spent. This was the highlight of our wedding! How PERFECTLY IT WENT! As soon as our officiant announced the second line, Knockazz started playing an awesome tune right outside the venue leaving our guests feeling excited and confused! Our out of town guests (50% were from New England) said this was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding. They take care of EVERYTHING. I think I had maybe 4 conversations with them, and then wedding day they show up right on time. I never gave it a second thought. Musicians through and through, they are the spirit of New Orleans. What a fun brass band! We hired them for our wedding second line and they delivered an outstanding performance. They came into our venue and played while leading our guests outside. They were patient with us when we needed to stop for photos. They even stuck around after we reached our second line destination and played for our guests. We booked Knockaz for 7/12 for our second line at our wedding at Press Street Station. Due to tropical storm Barry we were forced with the tough decision to cancel and completely reschedule or to hold the wedding a day early at a whole new venue. I thought I would have to cancel the band and be out the money. Knockaz came together and came to my wedding on 7/11 at our new venue. Our guests were blown away as we second lined in Jackson Square and they were so fantastic that we even made the news. I can not recommend them more. Knockaz didn't know they were playing for a tough crowd of musicians but they wow-ed everyone, and kicked off our second line with a song my husband played in high school marching band—even had him high-stepping down the street. So happy we could support talented, young musicians. Punctual and took care of planning our route as well.

There was a point when we could hear everyone singing the words to one of the songs they were playing and it gave us chills! Knockaz brought the entire house down on our wedding day. My family and friends could not stop talking about how amazing this brass band was, and our out of town friends/family were blown away by how my husband and I had such a "New Orleans Wedding" and how much fun they had dancing away with the help of this band. At one point, one of our relatives commented about how this band would just play faster....and faster...and faster...and somehow my husband, friends, and I just kept dancing faster and faster and faster along with them to the point where you can see the sweat through some of the groomsmen's jackets in pictures. It was so fun to work with Knockaz and their performance was the absolute highlight of our wedding! Hector was professional and prompt in our communications leading up to the wedding and the band was ready, timely and friendly at all events. This professionalism was key for us, as we planned our wedding from out of town and did not meet Hector beforehand. We had the band play for the ceremony as well as close out our whole reception with a second line. It was a total blast and our guests still talk about it months after.

As a Nola native, I always envisioned it as part of my wedding day, so once I secured my Church and venue, I immediately looked into a second line band. Knockaz brass band was beyond professional during my entire planning process! On the wedding day, Knockaz played virtually non stop for two solid hours in the park and in a second line. Our guests are still talking about what a great time they had! Besides their musicianship and professionalism, I really noticed and appreciated something special about Knockaz - their obvious joy in playing. I have multiple photos where maybe its a solo so the other members aren't playing in that moment, and everyone in the band is smiling and laughing and completely engaged in having fun. Hire them now, before they are booked! These guys were beyond incredible. They arrived exactly on time, came up to our reception (2nd floor Napoleon House) and started the parade there. They were easy to work with as far as getting booked and had all the permits completed without us having to do a thing. Our guests are still talking about this second line band. The grand Marshall was something else! He had a fun, great spirit about him and made sure the parade went off smoothly. Not being from New Orleans, we didn’t have much knowledge about a second line band. Now we both agree it was the perfect fireworks at the end of our perfect wedding day. They were WELL worth three times what they charged. You will not regret hiring this band.

The Knockaz crushed it! We had them perform during our ceremony, our cocktail hour, and for a second line. Everything was amazing! Communication leading up to the wedding was great. Herman from the Knockaz came to our walkthrough before the wedding to work out final plans. And the wedding itself went incredibly smoothly. Additionally, they had no problems with some "obscure" song choices we requested (Steve Winwood's "Bring me a higher love" and Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" for example). So get creative in your song requests! Thank you so much, Knockaz! And we can't recommend them enough for your New Orleans wedding.

The Knockaz were fantastic! Working with the bandleader Herman was great-our wedding was pushed up an entire day because of weather, and he still got the whole band to come out. Our guests adored the secondline, and it was extra special for our out-of-town guests who had never heard of this New Orleans tradition. Even though my now-husband and I are transplants to New Orleans, having the Knockaz lead our guests in a secondline made us feel more connected to the culture of this beautiful city. Music was perfect; band was wonderful; pictures were fabulous; experience was unforgettable.
