The site of the Botanical Gardens is absolutely gorgeous. I have fond memories of visiting and working in the area, so, I had my mind set on getting married there. Overall, the pla...
ce is gorgeous, especially in the spring. The Dogwood center is perfect for a wedding- the patio with string lights is magical. I had my ceremony in the Azalea Garden and it was like a scene out of a movie with all the blooms and birds singing.
In saying that, the planning and execution of my event was a bit chaotic. I booked about a year in advance and about midway through, the main site coordinator retired. No one reached out to tell me that there was a change of coordinators and I ended up with radio silence for about 3 months during my planning. This was a bit of a challenge. The day before my rehearsal, I got a call from the "head gardener" saying they were "scrambling" for my wedding because the head coordinator (Stephen) had a medical emergency. Apparently, they had no back up plan to be able to let us in the Dogwood center to have the rehearsal and drop items off for the wedding on Saturday. The head gardener did end up letting us in and mowed the site for the ceremony. Poor guy! Unfortunately, I had to communicate to several other people about the timeline for my event including the head gardener and the "attendant" that would be on site for my wedding day. Something that had been communicated to Stephen way ahead of time. This was hard to do while trying to enjoy and relax before my big day. Lastly, the day of my wedding was absolutely gorgeous. However, there were dozens of prom high school couples taking pictures. They were all over my ceremony site and reception site. This was quite frustrating because I though that the "whole" gardens were ours on wedding day as specified in the contract. Yet, there were only two signs saying reserved for private event on the property. The on 'site' coordinator did help clear out the reception site after I had to ask. Another annoyance on wedding day. One last thing to note if you are considering renting the botanical gardens. The visitor center where they say you can get ready is not heated and cooled well at all. So, if you want to have a summer/spring wedding, you may want to consider planning to hang out or get ready somewhere else. My bridal party was very hot day of! Overall, the grounds are breathtaking and I didn't let little things ruin my day. However, you should be communicative and clear about your expectations BEFORE booking the Botanical Gardens for you wedding.
First off, the Knoxville Botanical Garden & Arboretum is BEAUTIFUL. As soon as we saw it, I knew I wanted to get married there. That said, communication with all parties involved w...
as an actual nightmare. The event coordinator that was originally there never responded to emails, or only responded to a portion of my email. A month before my wedding, I found out that the original event person had left and I was never notified until I reached out to speak with her. I then found out she had given me tons of conflicting information and had let me book hourly rather than getting a wedding package (which is apparently not allowed over 3 or 4 hours), but they allowed me to go through with it since I'd already paid. The WEEK of my wedding, I was informed that I had only hired security for three hours when it was required for a minimum of four (why did someone allow me to book it for three hours?), and that we would not be able to enter the venue early for set up, so I would need to add extra hours (why no one suggested this while I was booking is beyond me). The week of my wedding a new event person was in place, who seems to know what he's doing. Everything on my end worked out fine and the wedding was beautiful, but lots of tears were shed trying to get everything straightened out.
The PERFECT venue for our wedding day. The gardens were lush and beautiful. Thank you!

iful building. Only had one issue with the place, we had our rehearsal dinner in the evening and there was absolutely no lighting outside on pathways etc. and it made it very difficult to get around.
From beginning to end, we had wonderful interactions with the staff at Knoxville Botanical Gardens. They were always available for any questions I had leading up to the wedding and...
also flexible with accommodating my requests. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and also shared in the excitement of our wedding! The gardens has three tiers for rental, which are all are very reasonably priced. With the package we went with, we had access to the entire gardens and all of the beautiful areas on the grounds: greenhouse, terraces and garden tea room - three spaces for the price of one!
The gardens is such a beautiful fairy tale setting!
