After agreeing to help coordinate my niece’s wedding, I found out she selected the Kona Salt Farm as her venue. Believing the wedding was going to be at a hotel, I had a lot of apprehensions, until I started working with Jen Hughes at the Farm. As none of us were from Kona, we depended on a lot of email and FaceTime communications for a year and a half. Jen is very patient, responds promptly and generous with vendor information in all categories. We did an in-person site visit with Mckenzie who provided much information and great recommendations/advice. As it was going to be an intimate wedding, not more than 75 guests, the couple decided they wanted the ceremony and reception al fresco on the oceanfront sandscape. It is literally a blank canvas with unlimited potential and the ocean as an amazing backdrop. All I can say is that the wedding was picture perfect. From the ceremony to the reception, it was just perfect. The weather held up, the glistening water of the ocean made for a beautiful setting, and I can’t say enough about the amazing, gorgeous sunset. The guests could not get enough of it. The Farm has a policy of having a professional wedding coordinator, at least for the day of the wedding. Ally B of Ally B Inspired was a godsend. She and Annie took care of everything seamlessly throughout the night. It was a dream wedding come true for the newlyweds and an event of a lifetime for many of us. As a senior who appreciates the creature comforts, I don’t think I could ever have had such an incredible experience sitting in a ballroom of a hotel.

Aloha, my name is Jen, and I am the Events Director at the Kona Salt Farm. I know Hawai'i is a very special place to say 'I do'. I grew up on the island of Oahu, and my husband grew up here on the Big Island. We now raise our little daughter and new pup in our little beach shack down the road. Having run my own small PR & creative company, I have done many corporate events, art events, and intimate affairs, so I know the importance of a well-planned event. Now I get to be behind the scenes of stunning weddings at the Kona Salt Farm. I look forward to sharing our special venue with you.

We live up mauka, so we had a lot of friends and family willing to help and KSF is really flexible about adding on or taking off different services depending on what you need, which was huge for us (rather than some venues where you are locked in to one massive package even if you don't need everything). I wish we could get married again here next year! 😂

enjoyed the venue, and so did my guests. As a bride, the getting ready suite was perfect, air conditioned and had enough room for all of my girls. The groom said the same. The venue had plenty of space to hold a larger amount of guests (80+) and the venue was very customizable to our needs. We would chose KSF over and over again if we could!

ul, very easy to communicate and work with. The space was gorgeous! We locked it in before they got their liquor license so we were able to bring in a bar service! That was something we really loved was that we brought in all outside vendors, we did food trucks and shave ice, our own alcohol, decorations we had so many choices and that is sometimes not easy to find! It was nice that it was not at a busy hotel, it is a 15 minute drive from downtown Kona, and secluded so it was nice that people didn’t just walk up into the party! They also have many things to offer themselves at the venue for cool add ons such as a bonfire/foot soak. We were able to have a really cool wedding and accommodate our 110 gusts with no problem! One of my favorite things was the bridal suite! It was beautiful, beach boho, so cute and great for getting ready pictures! The list goes on! I would recommend to anyone looking to get married on the Big Island! You will not be disappointed!

venue and all of our questions answered by Jen prior to entering into contract. Jen made sure that we were aware of any details and responsibilities leading up to the event. When we arrived in Hawaii we visited the venue and Mckenzie was there to give us another little tour and answer some of our lingering questions. She was onsite the night of the wedding as well if we needed anything. We highly recommend having other vendors that know the venue as well. Everything worked seamlessly between the venue, our caterer, and the bar vendor. Our guest loved their Kona sea salt favors too!

Jen and Effie have been extremely helpful during the planning process, they also offer add-ons like sea salt favors and a mineral foot soak which we tried during our venue tour! We plan to do it all over again at the salt farm down the road during our milestone anniversaries :)

t to work with and once we saw the venue we knew it was the perfect place. The Kona Salt Farm is a newer venue so there is not as much information about it as others but it is SO much more affordable than any other oceanfront venue we could find (expect the county/state parks). Plus there are a lot of fun add ons that would not be possible at other venues, we opted for the additional hour and fire pit. And our four-legged daughter could be at/in our wedding which was not possible at most other venues. The oceanfront of the Kona Salt Farm is beautiful during the day, but once everything is set up it really shines in the evening. The venue does take a lot of planning and setting up, so you need to bring in a lot of different vendors, but that just means you can truly create the perfect wedding for you. I highly recommend booking the Kona Salt Farm. Also, definitely book a wedding coordinator, it will make the setup/breakdown process so much easier. We went with Sunshower Weddings and they were great at very experienced at the Kona Salt Farm. Thank you Kona Salt Farm for our perfect wedding!

enue for our intimate ceremony and farm to table dinner/celebration. Kona Salt Farm set the stage for the most magical day of our lives. Not only did all go exactly according to plan, in large part thanks to Jen and her team, there were many surprising magical moments we didn't even dream possible. Such as the glorious waves gently crashing behind us during our ceremony, stunningly captured by photographer. Or the orange flash of a sunset that seemed to show up just for us, electrifying our evening. And who could forget the beautiful whale that stayed practically all wedding long, as if he/she had actually received an invitation to be there! Unfortunately, at the time of our event, this was a bit of a new venue where they have not worked out all the bugs yet. This being the case, we were a little mislead by the picture...

s provided by the Salt Farm's event person and one of the furniture pieces was not in usable condition. Communication was a little spotty which resulted in some confusion with usage of "common spaces". Keep in mind that the grounds are what you make it. Despite some small miscues our event turned out great. I would definitely recommend this as a nice event venue but advise that patrons make sure to be thorough about their preparation, intentions and communication with the coordinator.

a natural Kona landscape. This venue is very dessert-y and does not have the “tropical” landscaping that most of the Kona hotels have. It is all sand, native grasses, green bushes, lava rock, and crushed coral. If you like this vibe, this venue is truly one-of-a-kind! Some great pros for this venue: Super private and very beautiful! They allow any catering and any alcohol. You do not have a noise restriction and can pay extra for a later wedding end time than most venues (most Kona venues have a noise restriction making their latest end time 10pm). They have two air-conditioned suites for your wedding party to get ready and nice bathrooms for guests. They also have a prep kitchen for your catering staff. Love that it is right on the ocean with beautiful sunsets and the flexibility of the vendors that you can bring in.
