ceeded our expectations. He was professional, prompt, easy to get along with, and went to great lengths to get the photos just right. Before the wedding he worked with us to set up a detailed timeline and a list of must have photos. Even when our timeline was delayed (by over a hour!) Konrad made sure he got every photo we asked for. One of the most memorable parts of our wedding was sneaking away to take some night photos. No bride wants to be away from her reception for a second but the nighttime photos were absolutely worth it. Plus it was nice to have some private time with the groom. After the wedding, Konrad immediately started posting preview photos and posted the full blog shortly after the wedding. We had all of our pictures before the date he told us. We've received endless compliments on Konrad's work. We highly recommend him for any bride and groom who value photography.

to get the pictures right; there are no “do-overs”. After months of searching, we discovered Kolen Photography and couldn’t have been happier with the discovery. When meeting with Konrad Kolen, we were able to convey what our vision was for our wedding pictures. What we expressed is that while we want the “traditional” portraits for our wedding, we also wanted to have portraits that look more “modern and artistic”; we wanted them to look as though they could be included in a wedding fashion magazine. Konrad understood exactly what we were looking for and was able to meet our expectations on all fronts. First we met with Konrad for out engagement shoot and when we received some of the pictures we were stunned! They came out better than we could have ever imagined! The engagement shoot was essential as well as we developed a trust with Konrad. We were craving direction and he was able to provide it at all times. Other photographers we met with stated they didn’t like to give directions because they pictures don’t appear “natural”. Well our advice would be to request direction! It felt awkward at first but when we saw the end results were absolutely astonished by the finished result! The wedding day was no different. Konrad was on time and with us every step of the way. We got great portraits and candid shots that we have rarely seen when looking at other photographers. He made us feel very comfortable throughout the whole day and any request we made for a picture was done. We haven’t done the wedding albums as yet so I cannot review that process but can tell you that we received all high resolution images in a very timely manner (approximately 2 months after the wedding). Some of our friends had to wait more than 4 months to see all their images. In addition, one of the most exciting parts of working with Konrad is the posting on his blog. We were able to see a big sampling of our pictures in less than a week! It was a great feeling to see such a fast turnover while still on our honeymoon! We continued to share the beautiful, professional, artistic pics from that blog for months with different colleagues, family and friends (unfortunately, we no longer believe the blog is still up at this time). We can say without a shadow of a doubt that Kolen Photography will be used to capture all our other milestone occasions in the future.

ry exceeded our already high expectations! On the wedding day itself, things started off chaotic-- with family, friends, a large bridal party and other vendors at our small apartment. Konrad was charming and pleasant-- but still able to organize everyone effectively! Because we were getting married in Manhattan, my husband and I wanted to take photos in and around the city. It was more crowded than usual for Valentine's Day, tourists jumped into the photos periodically, and it was below freezing-- it even started snowing at one point. Konrad never slowed down or complained once. He took photos from every angle-- getting down on the ground for several shots. And they came out beautifully!! They really captured the atmosphere. Konrad was with us for 12 hours on the wedding day-- taking pics of us getting ready, touring NYC, at the wedding ceremony, touring NYC again(!), doing family portraits, at cocktail hour, and at our reception. He also did a special photo session at the end of the night with just the two of us. He worked continuously that entire time! The whole process of wedding planning was much easier once Konrad got involved. He was very interested in hearing my ideas and he molded the entire wedding day into what we wanted. We exchanged emails and talked on the phone a few times beforehand so we could finalize a timeline that would allow us to capture all the moments we wanted to. After the wedding, Konrad emailed us some of the highlights immediately. It was such a great surprise to see them on our honeymoon. He posted several other pics soon after and then sent us the full gallery within a month. Everyone LOVED Konrad's pictures! A few of my friends asked for his contact information to take other portraits and events for them as well. For me, Konrad's photos were one of the highlights of the entire event!

ize what an important role a photographer could play. At first, we spoke with a few photographers who cost a little less money, but were not impressed with their energy or work. When we met with Konrad, we knew immediately that he would be great. Prior to the wedding, we had a call with Konrad where we reviewed details and a timeline. He patiently answered our questions and subsequent emails and was consistently reliable, knowledgeable and kind. I had a lot of reservations at first about being the center of attention and getting my picture taken a lot, but Konrad always made me feel totally comfortable and natural. The day of the wedding, he showed up early and was just great. My family could not stop talking about how wonderful he was. He even took a break from eating his dinner to get a priceless shot of our grandmothers meeting for the first time. I can't say enough good things about him, and his assistant was wonderful as well. They trooped it through Central Park in freezing temperatures for pre-ceremony pics, and were enthusiastic and great. After our wedding, I came across a list of regrets that people had after their wedding, and almost all of them mentioned disappointment about their photographers. It made me feel extra grateful to have found Konrad. I know he will hold a place in our memories of the day for years to come.

I told him that the highest compliment that I could pay to him is that I did not remember him from my friend's wedding at all because he was not obtrusive and did not block the guests' view during the ceremony and other special wedding moments, yet he managed to capture amazing photos. Konrad kept in touch with me just the right amount through the wedding planning process. Konrad did our engagement photos and made my husband-to-be, who was reluctant to be in front of the camera, very comfortable. Konrad took so much time with us and it was clear that he takes great pride in his work. Konrad had our photos to us in just a few days and they were incredible. Before the wedding, Konrad constructed a “day-of” timeline with me to ensure we had allocated enough time to different photos. Everything went smoothly on my wedding day because Konrad was so organized, flexible and patient. My wedding photos are amazing and not cookie cutter at all. They are beautiful images that I will treasure always and bring me instantly back to that wonderful day. Konrad is an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly, highly recommend him. My father, who can be extremely difficult to please and has very high standards, also loved Konrad and told me multiple times on the night of the wedding and the next day how "wonderful" and "incredible" Konrad is. oring wedding shots. Of course we still had some but Konrad's style is more photojournalistic which was exactly what we were looking for. Since it is his business, you are not dealing with a sales guy where you never actually meet the photographers who will be shooting your wedding until the day of. You deal with Konrad the entire time from each meeting, to the engagement session to the phone calls in between and finally the wedding day. You even work with him on your album afterwards. There is no middle man. And because you are dealing with a small shop, you get responses and photos back super quick. We got our engagement session photos back within a couple days!! Konrad is such a pleasure to work with. He is a great person and cares so much about doing the best job for your event. For both our engagement session and our wedding day, Konrad worked longer and stayed later than expected. He cares more about getting the perfect shot than what time it is and whether he has gone over what was contracted. I really think there are not many vendors, photographers in particular, like Konrad. He is a great guy and an amazing photographer and I would recommend him to anyone in the tri-state area.

w amazing this man's attention to detail and worksmanship is...it is blatantly obvious that he loves his craft and it is even more blatantly obvious why...he is, put simply, an ARTIST...the best of the best...because on top of all that skill...there is pure passion! BACKGROUND INTO OUR EXPERIENCE WITH KONRAD: We just had a beach/trash the dress session with him almost a week ago and we are already getting a glimpse into some of the pictures he took and, HOLY HELL, they are SPECTACULAR! And seriously, neither me nor my husband gravitate toward a camera in ANY situation, we are definitely the types that prefer to shy away from it, but Konrad was patient with us and took the time to make us feel comfortable and somehow managed to bring out a hidden extrovert in both of us...i really didn't want the session to end, it was just so much fun! He has some innate way of capturing the mood whether innocent, sweet, shy, fun/laughter filled, playful, professional, and everything in between. But then, he can tap into the PERFECT mix of tasteful sexiness, i have never seen anything like it, especially from me, lol!
