For over a decade, the DJs at Kuhl Entertainment have served over 1000 couples from Madison to the Dells, to Key West and Puerto Rico and back. Our commitment to professionalism is evident in every aspect of what we do - from the equipment we use, the people we employ, and the materials we provide to couples in order to streamline your planning process.
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, and we’re here to help. Couples are welcome to enjoy a free consultation with our team to learn more about our business and whether we are the right fit for your wedding. We believe that each couple is different, and that each wedding should be a reflection of your distinct vision. It is our goal to create a seamless planning experience tailored to the unique needs and musical taste of every couple. We employ a team of DJs with a range of experience and musical tastes, some of whom have DJed well over 100 weddings with our company. All of our DJs are professional, hardworking, talented, and committed to bringing your dream wedding to life.
We offer a wide range of services including receptions, ceremony sound, photo booth rental, multimedia packages, uplighting, pinspot lighting, karaoke, and trivia. Our DJs are also available for private events, and many of them DJ regularly at bars and nightclubs in downtown Madison.

We hired Kuhl Entertainment for our October 25, 2025 wedding and paid $3,800 for DJ services, ceremony audio, uplighting, a photo booth, and specifically requested DJ Josh Kuhl. Un...
fortunately, the company failed to deliver most of what we contracted.
Josh did not arrive for the ceremony—or even for the scheduled sound check—and the venue had to step in last minute with their own equipment and our Spotify playlists. He ultimately showed up 6 hours late, well into dinner, with no prior communication about delays. Because of this, our ceremony and the first part of our reception took place without the DJ services we paid for.
The photo booth was also not properly staffed, poorly lit, and we have not received any of the digital or physical photo copies or the guestbook that were included in our package.
Overall, we paid for multiple services that were either partially delivered, delivered late, or not delivered at all. We attempted to contact the company multiple times after the wedding and received no response until we threatened legal action.
I want to be fair and share that we did receive a partial refund for the services not provided- but, again- not until we threatened legal action. Ultimately, we did not deserve to stress about this on our wedding day. I would use caution before booking their services.

xperience we had during our October 2025 wedding. I also want to note that we made significant efforts to resolve our concerns with Josh at Kuhl Entertainment prior to posting this review. However, I believe it is important for others to hear about our experience before choosing to work with Kuhl Entertainment.
We first met with Josh on December 17, 2024, and had an incredibly positive first interaction and conversation. After this meeting, and after reviewing feedback for Kuhl Entertainment across several platforms, my wife and I felt excited, motivated, and eager to have Kuhl Entertainment be a part of our day. We left the call feeling very confident that our interaction and Kuhl Entertainment’s reputation justified the $2,500 investment.
We had our final event consultation with our DJ, Greg, on September 29, 2025. Once again, we left the meeting feeling reassured and excited, as Greg mentioned several times how much he liked our music choices and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about our event schedule. The event schedule was used to track all of the correct versions of our key songs, activities, and timeline.
Fast forward to our wedding day, we did not anticipate that one of the low points of our event would be the services provided by Greg and Kuhl Entertainment. Unfortunately, this is how the evening unfolded and marked the beginning of a series of unprofessional actions by the company.
Below is a list of our key complaints based on our experience:
1) Incorrect first dance song: Greg played the wrong song for our first dance. This was not a case of playing a different version of our selected song; instead, he played a song that my wife and I had never heard before that moment. We ultimately decided to end our first dance early and were very disappointed.
2) Missed scheduled speech: Greg did not follow our event schedule and skipped a planned speaking opportunity for my wife's co–maid of honor. This was very disappointing, as it was a special moment for our friends and family to celebrate with us. We then had to spend time on our wedding day reassuring guests that the omission was not intentional.
3) Unprofessional conduct at the bar: Greg repeatedly visited the hosted bar, which was charged by consumption, without our permission or notifying us. This became problematic as lapses in DJ service continued throughout the evening. Greg's visits to the bar were frequent and noticed by guests. We felt that the DJ drinking on our dime without consent was one of the most unprofessional and inappropriate actions of the night.
4) Additional concerns: Throughout the night, we noticed songs being repeated, awkward guest engagement, and several reports that the DJ smelled of alcohol.
In our attempt to resolve these complaints with Josh at Kuhl Entertainment, we reached out via email on October 28, 2025, just days after our event, and presented our list of concerns. When we did not receive a response, we followed up on October 30, November 3, and November 4, 2025. His only response, sent on November 4, stated that he had been too busy with another wedding vendor venture and had not had a chance to review our message. He offered no empathy or concern for the issues we raised, and we were particularly disappointed by his lack of interest in our experience.

They coordinated seamlessly with our other vendors, which made the night flow effortlessly, and above all, they always put us—the couple—first. Communication was outstanding throughout the planning process. They were prompt, professional, and attentive to every detail. In addition, my daughter paid an extra $500 for Josh himself to DJ her wedding and he was barely present once the dance started, letting his other staff run the show. They accidentally set off their smoke machine, causing the smoke alarms to go off in the middle of the dance. The facility folks had a hard time getting the alarms to stop, which was a major disruption to the dance.

r our day! We were pleased to find that even though our venue was brand new, Kuhl had already been working with them and had visited them to understand their mic system and setup. Our DJ was Avalon, who was incredibly cool and willing to try some original up-lighting ideas that we had. The music was perfectly tailored to us because Avalon was available to consult about our music tastes ahead of time. Kuhl has playlists with suggestions for couples who aren’t necessarily sure about the exact songs they want played, but also easily and seamlessly found and incorporated a somewhat obscure Romanian-language song that we selected for our first dance. Avalon was incredibly deft in responding to our guests’ music requests AKA “reading the room,” including managing my overly-enthusiastic (and over-served) cousin’s needs as well as playing a last minute request from our bridal party that turned out to be a very special moment that we will always remember. She handled some minor technical hiccups during our post-dinner speeches (unavoidable and due to mic interference) with grace and had a backup corded mic ready to substitute immediately. In other words, we put Kuhl through the ringer and they knocked it out of the park! So many of our guests (the very hip ones) complimented our DJ after the event – Kuhl will be our first recommendation to anyone who asks us about DJ services in the future!

contacted us personally and we consulted through a very thorough selection of songs and careful planning. Josh himself worked with us and was top notch in the preparation, enacting the perfect balance of professionalism and fun in the process. I could tell we were in good hands with him before we even got to the event.
At the wedding itself, we had Josh and his assistant Wes manning the DJ, announcement, and photo booth duties. The whole thing was stellar and flawless, from the execution of our logistics of the planned events, the professional setup and display, and the fun factor. We had people compliment us afterwards on how great Kuhl Entertainment was. They faced an unplanned hurdle of running the ship on a night the Milwaukee Bucks were planning a championship winning game (with a TV in the bar), but they handled it all in stride with some of the semi-distracted crowd. Looking at our pictures and thinking through how it all went, that was only a minor blip in retrospect, and I credit that to their professionalism.
If we had to do it again, I would plan it the same way with Josh Kuhl and his staff. I have full confidence the rest of his DJ staff meet the same standard as well. Amazing job!

munications were extraordinarily helpful and fun - he helped us discern the kind of music we wanted throughout the reception, and was extremely respectful, professional, and punctual throughout all of interactions with him and at our reception! When the timing of things got changed up a bit during the reception (due to speeches going longer and our table photos going longer), he easily and calmly helped us manage the changes and we were still able to do the fun things we had planned! He worked very well with our reception place (Seven Seas in Hartland, WI) even though it was a reception place he was not very familiar with!
