You can’t beat the waterfront view–Kim does an amazing job with the landscaping and details. Havre de Grace is a cute place and a great spot for a wedding! We loved having our wedding outdoors, dancing under the stars, using the indoor lounge for hair/makeup before the ceremony, and being able to get cool moon photos on the dock.
Things to consider:
1. The price for the venue includes the amazing view, chairs/tables for the reception/ceremony, a nearby parking lot for guests, and the use of the whole property. We did 5 hours of event time and could be on site 5 hours before the event and 1 hour after (for vendors to clean up). Any additional time on site is extra. So, if you need to be in the Lounge earlier for hair and makeup to be finished before your ceremony or so you can take first-look photos or family photos before the event starts, it’s an additional hourly fee to do that. If you want guests to be able to arrive 30 minutes before your event start time, it’s an additional hourly fee.
2. The venue gives you preferred vendor choices, which is helpful, and you need to pick one of their preferred caterers.
3. You will have to buy event insurance (this is in the contract and wasn’t a surprise fee, we knew this when we signed).
4. There are no hotels in downtown Havre de Grace, the closest are in Aberdeen (~12 mins away), so transportation to and from the venue for guests is something to consider. (Side Note: There are a few great AirBnBs in the area–we stayed in one that was within walking distance to and from the venue and was a great spot for the guys to hang out the day of!)
5. Kim has a lot of wonderful suggestions for how to make your day happen how you want, I truly mean that. She was open to our ideas and clearly cared about us having a special day. I just wish we’d known that there would be a lot of extras that we needed to budget for to make our day happen and be a good experience for our guests.
6. From our experience, we ended up needing to work with additional vendors to get: Heaters and extra lights so we could keep the included tent warm and have the outside dance floor a comfortable temperature (we had a fall wedding), we skipped renting a smaller sweetheart table (it wasn’t part of our included tables/chairs for some reason), our DJ and ice cream vendor had to bring their own tables and tablecloths, and a day-of-coordinator because the venue doesn’t do any setup or breakdown of the chairs provided and will not put centerpieces out or other decorations. When we booked in 2023, a day of coordinator wasn’t required, but it ended up being something we had to get upon learning the extent of what the venue manager would do the day of our wedding. Two very organized hospitality industry friends of mine offered to handle that for us and did a wonderful job. However, our impression was that the venue would have preferred we pick a full-time or professional day-of-coordinator service. (It looks like a day-of-coordinator is now required to book the seaplane base.)
Overall, if you have a larger budget and work with a wedding planner, I think all of these considerations would be no problem. We just didn’t have the budget to do that, so it ended up being a lot of coordination for us between vendors and the venue, especially because we learned that the venue has specific preferences about other vendors' execution/timing and wants to know all of the details, but doesn’t want to manage those relationships or communications.
Wow! I couldn’t love this venue more. It was the absolute perfect wedding venue if you’re looking for unique outdoor space you can use however you want and beautiful views of the water! Kim is incredible and truly cares about her brides/grooms to get to know them and help execute an incredible wedding day. Kim made sure to check in on me to see how I was doing with planning and was always so helpful with any questions I have. I absolutely loved this venue and hosting a wedding here is perfect! Pro tip: host your after party at Coakley’s Pub!
We fell in love with la Banque de fleuve two years ago when we decided to book our wedding there. Long story short we knew there was going to be rain on our wedding day. But then the rain turned into a tropical storm (#Ophelia). Not the ideal scenario for an outdoor tented venue. The week before the wedding Kim was looking at the weather forecast at all hours throughout the night. Then three days before the wedding we made the joint decision to hold the reception at the Bank and do the ceremony outside under a second tent we had rented. Kim completely revamped the plans to create an intimate cocktail party/ night club vibe. The guests could not stop talking about how fun the reception was! We broke up our buffet into two food stations and had tables with chairs as well as cocktail tables. We used the vault area for dessert and Photo Booth. The wedding turned out wonderfully and it actually stopped raining when I walked down the aisle. We are so grateful for Kim and the rest of the team for their ability to adapt under theses circumstances. Kim is wonderful to work with and always puts her clients first. This was an amazing experience that we will remember forever!
Couldn't have imagined our special day anywhere else. We were allowed to have our dog as our ringbearer here which was really important to us and he was able to stay as long as we wanted him to. Kim was so kind and accommodating through the entire process. She addressed all of our concerns and made sure to take as much stress off as possible. Our venue was absolutely gorgeous the day of and our pictures look stunning. Our guests continuously said we had the perfect venue and how much they loved it. We stumbled upon this venue on a walk through town and it was the best discovery ever! So thankful we had our wedding here. Thank you to Kim and her staff!!
We just recently held our wedding at La Banque, and it was an absolutely perfect day! Our guests have been talking non stop about how gorgeous the venue is. The water views and open spaces make for the most gorgeous photos, you will not be sorry for booking your event here!
This is a very beautiful venue overlooking the water. Just be aware that you are LITERALLY paying for the view, and use of the tables, chairs. Set up also isn’t included in the price. Your caterer is responsible for setting up tables and chairs, food, as well as the break down and clean up. Which will most likely cost an additional fee.
I don’t recall this information being mentioned during my initial meeting with the owner so I just want to inform others.
La Banque de Fleuve was the most beautiful venue! I looked at at least 15 venues but I fell in love with la banque right away. Many of the guests said it was the best venue they had ever been to for a wedding. Kim was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had. She helped with the rehearsal and making sure we had everything so our day would run as smoothly as possible. I would highly recommend this venue to any couple looking to get married.
This venue was perfect for our wedding. Kim and the entire staff accommodated is in every possible way. The flowers, water, dock and bamboo made for fantastic pictures. The accommodations and facilities were top notch as well. Havre De Grace Is a perfect place for a family to get together and enjoy small town Maryland with amazing views. I highly recommend them to anyone!
La Banque de Fleuve was the very first place we went when looking for our venue. Hooked on first sight! It's paradise, it was like walking straight into a dream. The venue speaks for itself. I honestly didn't need to decorate because it so beautifully kept and the location it absolutely perfect!
Kim and Nick are the best and they care about what you care about. My guests are still talking about how beautiful the venue was, I'm so glad they we found them.
First, Havre de Grace is the perfect historic small town location for a wedding. Having a wedding and reception venue like La Banque at the Seaplane Base right in town and on the Susquehanna River is just icing on the cake. Our daughter and son-in-law were married there this past Friday evening and we couldn’t have been happier with the venue and staff supporting the event. Kim was there from day one when we first visited the venue, and even provided wedding planner type services by making great recommendations for the wedding party entrance, and even managed the timing of their entrance during the actual wedding. She assisted us throughout the entire process and took much of the stress off of the planning and execution so that we could totally enjoy the event. Kim answered all of our questions and made sure the venue was beautifully prepared with all of the blooming flowers, plants and green space. The venue had plenty of room for our over 200 guests and Kim did everything she could to help us remain comfortable in the 95 degree heat. It is a bonus that La Banque has an ongoing relationship with MacGregor’s just several doors down for catering services. Kim and Nancy, MacGregor’s Catering Coordinator have a great working relationship, but we’ll save that for a separate review. If you are looking for a quaint small town feel for your wedding with a gorgeous river view, La Banque at the Seaplane Base is the venue for you. We highly recommend it and will spread the word.
I had my daughters wedding at Seaplane Base and this place is so beautiful. I fell in love from the minute I walked onto the property. Kim was easy to talk with about our needs and was so very helpful with ideas and support. The wedding was 2 months ago and I am still getting calls from my friends and family about how beautiful it was and how much they enjoyed the atmosphere and being near the water. What a success!!
My husband and I got married two weeks ago at La Banques outdoor space and it was absolutely perfection. The venue itself is stunning. Kim has put in so much time and effort to make this venue special. It looked totally different from the day I booked it (in a good way!). The tent is such a bonus and felt so grand and glamorous. Kim was the venue owner of our dreams. She was responsive and honest and helped us make many decisions with our other vendors. You can really tell how genuine she is and how much she loves making her brides happy. Even on the day of, after I had to deal with some mother-in-law drama, she stood with me before I walked down the isle to calm me down and refocus me on the ceremony. I doubt most venue owners would do that. Finally, the pricing on this venue is so reasonable. I'd book it ASAP because I have a feeling it'll be booked solid for years to come.
I got married at La Banque at the Seaplane Base this past June and it was absolutely amazing! Kim went out of her way to make sure my day was perfect! She met with me whenever I asked to discuss things and she called me to check up on me in the weeks coming up to my wedding date. She helped set all of my decor up, she let me get ready in La Banque (the old bank) because there wasn't an event there that day, she even ran out to find a specific liquor that we ran out of during the reception! The entire venue is so beautiful and I couldn't have asked for more! I highly recommend La Banque and Kim for your wedding or event!
On the day that mattered most, things were perfect.
We were married at the Seaplane Base on June 10th. One word? Unforgettable. Kim was a life saver and made the day go so smoothly for not only us but for our guests and our vendors. She was there at every step, answered every call and text message within minutes and truly cared for us! You can tell she loves what she does and each client is special to her. At the end of the night my feet were filthy from dancing the night away and she led me into her office, gave me a wash cloth and let me wash my feet and relax at the tub for a little and soak in the whole day. We will be visiting La Banque again and we hope to either have another event there or attend one this time. Thank you, Kim!!! xo
We got married at La Banque de Fleuve in mid November. Kim made sure the day was perfect for us. She helped us through everything from recommending the cater and the DJ to being there the day of and making sure everything was perfect and I can truly say it was. The venue is great and all my guests told me how much they loved it and how unique it is. I would recommend La Banque to anyone.
We got married at the Seaplane Base at the end of October, and had our reception inside La Banque. Kim was there to coordinate everything (including last minute ceremony changes based on wind direction so the girls didn't have their hair blown into their faces the whole time!). She even made herself available to my family in the months leading up to the wedding while they were trying to coordinate a surprise for us. Both the outdoor and indoor venues were exactly what we had envisioned. They are both so beautifully landscaped and decorated... our guests are still talking about how romantic everything felt. The venue runs like a well-oiled machine. Thank you, Kim, for making our wedding day legitimately stress-free! :)
Our ceremony and reception were held outside at the Seaplane base and we could not have asked for a better atmosphere. The views of the Susquehanna river were breathtaking for our guests to enjoy.
I advise if you are having any event to select this venue! Ms. Kim is AWESOME on so many levels. We got married in the same day that the 2016 BLIZZARD came to town. Kim made me feel so comfortable that everything would go as planned and for me not to worry about a thing and she keep her promise. She is A1 for flexibility, we had to adjust our time from the original 6 pm ceremony to a 12 noon and it was a smooth as if nothing had changed. I Love this place and Ms. Kim is the BEST!
Absolutely perfect! My husband and I had our reception at La Banque in May using the banquet venue. However, they were gracious enough to let us take pictures at the brand new (stunning) outside venue and let our guests wander out there as well. If you are looking for a venue with history and unique feel, look no further. The banquet venue with the two levels of seating (balcony and lower level) was a hit with our guests. Besides, the venue was used for a scene in House of Cards! We absolutely loved working with Kim - you're in good hands with her! She's extremely professional and knowledgable.
Our daughter was married at La Banque De Fleuve on May 6, 2016. Our plan was to have the ceremony outside at the seaplane base. However, because of the rain we had to move everything inside within hours of the wedding ceremony. Kim was amazing at making the transition seamlessly. The venue was beautiful and our guests were well taken care of. We would like to thank Kim for her amazing expertise and hospitality. The day was perfect!
My husband and I got married at La Banque a few weeks ago. From the day we first visited this venue until our wedding day, everything was perfect. Kim was incredible to work with and despite heavy rain and many changes the morning of our wedding, it went absolutely perfect. I can't say enough about this venue.
My husband and I had an amazing wedding reception at La Banque and would not have changed a thing. We had a few things thrown at us, severe thunderstorms while guests arrive to the reception and losing power for hours during the reception; however, the place look AMAZING lit up with tons of candles. It was very romantic and everyone continued to have a great time. Kim was amazing to work with. I would definitely recommend this place to other brides. It's a gorgeous venue.
Having seen weddings at dozens of venues over the past 40 years, I can recommend La Banque de Fleuve as being in the top 1%. Not only is the waterfront setting picturesque, but the highly professional and friendly service establishes the perfect atmosphere for the most joyous of family rituals. With less than 90 day to prepare, and with not only guests, but the bride and groom themselves coming from as far west as Colorado the meticulous planning, thorough attention to detail, and attitude to do whatever was necessary demonstrated by Kim Barth and her staff was exemplary. Their responsiveness to last minute desires and requests included arranging for a pontoon boat. This allowed the bride, father of the bride, maid of honor and a photographer to arrive at outdoor ceremony scene in the most memorable manner - at the same anchorage that the sea planes utilize! The food was outstanding, the historic site visually exquisite and the service prompt, and professional. Not least of all, from the father of the brides perspective, the cost was quite affordable! Kudos to Kim Barth and her first class team for making our day of family togetherness so unforgettable.
Have had many events at la banque de fleuve - mostly business events... and they were all top notch. From the beautiful setting to the exceptional service...I've become a repeat customer. Would highly recommend la banque for any event!
My husband and I feel so BLESSED to have been the first couple to have a 200+ person wedding at La Banque at the Sea Plane Base!!! Our story with La Banque will be different than those couples looking now, due to the fact that the venue is now STUNNING; however, I think it is important to go back 14 months to describe the amazing team at La Banque. My husband found La Banque online when the outdoor venue was in pre-lim stages. We went to go see it and not only fell in love with the property, but also Kim and Nick. The property was just a lot at this point, but we immediately knew after meeting Kim and Nick that they had a vision to build the most beautiful venue that I have ever been to and the one that I only had dreamed about! Kim and Nick worked tirelessly up to the night before my wedding on the venue. I can't describe the lengths and efforts they took to make it PERFECT. They are perfectionists for their brides, making every detail better than you thought possible! I felt so confident leading up to the wedding because I knew with Kim and Nick on the job, everything would work out! Kim checked in with me often, making me feel like I was the first person in the world to ever get married! She will do this for every bride she hosts because she truly cares about making your day special. The venue is on the water, a breathtaking view. Our guests loved walking out into the water on the dock, having cocktails on the deck, and dancing the night away on the bluestone dance floor. I didn't want to be under a tent; I wanted to dance under the stars, and here at La Banque, we did! There is a gorgeous space underneath a tent where my guests could sit and relax, take photobooth pictures, grab dessert, etc, so I was never concerned if the weather didn't cooperate. My guests have been telling me for the last two months how gorgeous La Banque at the Seaplane base is and I am grateful my husband found the site, so that we could have the wedding reception of a lifetime!!! Thank you Kim and Nick, I know we will be friends of La Banque for years to come!
Excellent, reliable service! Completely beautiful location on the water! I would recommend this venue to any Bride and Groom!
We couldn't have made a better decision on our venue- made or wedding a dream come true. I'm not sure where to start: Beth (the venue director) gave us detailed information from tours to florists to caterers- we literally were given a step by step guide to not only picking a venue- but planning our entire Havre de Grace wedding. Because all the vendors we chose were local- the Banque knew exactly how to coordinate with them on our big day. I call La Banque "our wedding empire" because it literally had everything you could dream of- A grand indoor space, exquisite architectural detail, outdoor docks and the Chesapeake and Susquehanna within reach. Combining old and new gave us the modern chic wedding we had planned. I was given endless compliments on our wedding day and how the space was so different and beautiful...unlike other wedding they've been to. I can't imagine any bride and groom being dissapointed when so many personalized possibilities are available- it's not possible for this venue to be anything other than perfect. I will recommend to everyone!

This is the the most beautiful, romantic venue for a reception in Harford County. I had my reception at La Banque October 2014 and friends and family still comment to my husband and me that they loved how unique and absolutely stunning this venue is. As a bride, I couldn't thank the owner Kim enough for her calming presence and for all the special touches she added to make the reception perfect!
As the Mother of the Bride, I needed to have my Daughter's dream come true. Kim Barth made that happen without question. If you have an opportunity to visit La Banque De Fleuve, you should and quickly get on the calendar! It's an amazing historical place and the outdoor area was so beautiful. Thank you Kim for the recommendations for flowers, cake, decorations, music, food and of course the placement of the Ceremony. We came in from Colorado and everything was perfect!!!
