I went to Maria for wedding dress alterations after having horrible alterations done on my dress by someone else. My dress has intricate mesh sleeves and beaded appliques and was in really bad shape when I brought it to her. On top of that, I brought it to her about 3 weeks before my wedding. She fixed all of the problems, including problems that I hadn't noticed before. My dress was beautiful thanks to Maria, I truly don't know how she did it but she is incredibly talented! Additionally, her pricing is very reasonable! I would definitely recommend her!
Maria was accommodating to the men picking up suits on the day of our wedding. However, we paid cash for one of the suits and she did not provide a receipt or write it down so we had to pay for it twice as it was written down in her records. We also paid for an entire tux for the father of the bride (my dad) and Maria told him the shirt and shoes had not arrived yet and he needed to return on the day of the wedding and when he did they still had not arrived! So my dad did not match the men which was extremely disappointing. There was no compensation or follow up. The suits were nice but I wish all of the men had fully matched.
Maria is extremely talented! She had taken in my sister-in-laws dress 5 sizes and it was gorgeous so I knew I would be in good hands. We asked her to cut the entire train off an Oleg Cassini dress and shorten it about a foot because I am only 5 feet tall. She even shortened the petticoat and showed me and my Mom how to "tuck in the extra skin" so that I didn't have muffin top under my arms and back! She also did an amazing job with my mother's dress and even did the alterations while we were there so my Mom didn't have to come back. I had lost a total of 15 lbs since the first fitting. On my last fitting, it was a little loose so she suggested that I wear an undergarment to fill it back out a little. When I came in to pick up the dress the day before the wedding, I tried it on one last time with the undergarment. I had lost another pound or two in the last week and it was too late to take the dress in so she sewed on an additional hook right there to cinch the top of the dress a little tighter and it fit perfectly. The price she charged for the amount of work she put into the dress was unreal. I thought I would have paid more for the alterations than we did for the actual dress. I highly recommend La Scala Bridal Shoppe for any alterations, big or small!
Maria is my new best friend!
This woman is so incredibly talented! I met her at a Bridal Show and decided to shop at her store in Tewksbury for a dress. Unfortunately I did not find the dress I wanted there, but I did came to her with a dress that I bought elsewhere and she was able to do all my alterations. I bought a sleeveless dress and she was able to add the sleeves of my dreams plus matched the fabric perfectly. We did order all my bridesmaid, flower girl dresses, and my mothers dress suit from her and she did their alternations too. So not including mine, she altered 9 dresses for us! Two of my flower girls lives out of state and arrived a week before the wedding, she was able to alter both dresses in 2 days after only one fitting!
Also, one of my sisters has Cerebral Palsy and is wheelchair bound and she was so kind to go to my parents house to measure her for her bridesmaid dress, and even visited 2 more times for both fittings.
Finally, she pressed my dress and even delivered it to my venue the day of the wedding.
I can't say enough good things about Maria. She is a real life Wonder Woman.
Where do I even start? From the moment I tried on dresses from Maria her knowledge, talent, and experience were evident. She cared about what I wanted in a dress, listened to me, problem solved, and made me feel at ease throughout the dress ordering/fitting process. She knew what would look good on my body, added all the details I wanted, and basically customized my dress. I felt incredible. I got so many compliments on my dress. It was an incredible experience working with Maria, she was more of a mother to me than my own and I will always appreciate her guidance and her ability to make me feel like a star on my special day. She also worked with my budget, which wasn't much. I can't thank her enough.
La Scala is a tiny little bridal shop in Revere that I never would have gone to had I not met Maria (the owner) at a bridal show. She is so nice and very helpful and I knew I had to check out her store. I found my dress the first time I went there and when I decided it was the one, Maria celebrated with me just as much as my bridal party did. Once I bought the dress she did an amazing job with alterations and going in to her shop was a great experience every time. She also hand made a flower for my hair to match my dress. She is a woman of many talents!
Maria, the owner of this little dress shop, is amazing. When I came to her to try on dresses it was my first time and she acted like she was my doting Italian grandmother. Its so rare to find people who haven't become obsessed with just making money in this industry; she is certainly the exception. I would return to her store in a heartbeat.
Hi!
My name is Cheryl. I just married my husband Joe, on June 25, 2011. I had a magical and beautiful wedding day! Part of my dream for my special day was to find the right dress. I never knew that a dress could make me feel so beautiful!!! My best friend and maid of honor recommended La Scala in Revere, Ma. I went there feeling very lost, especially since I was alone. My best friend lives in Florida and my other friends and family are spread out across the country. So, I went to the bridal shop not knowing what to expect. I was greeted by a lovely and very friendly lady by the name of Maria. Without hesitation, she showed me to her back room filled with glamorous gowns. I looked at all of them. I was getting discouraged as I was approaching the end of the selections. Believe it or not, the last two gowns were the ones that appealed to me most. I went into the dressing room, tried on the first one and just stared at myself in the mirror for over 10 minutes. I started to feel tears come down my face. Maria asked if everything was okay? I went out and hugged her and said, "I am crying... I think that means that this is the one." I told Maria that I wanted to purchase this one. When she told me the price, I couldn't believe my luck! It was marked down and with alterations, it cost less than $500.00!! I couldn't believe it.. I even went as far as asking Maria if she could do something creative with the dress. I loved it so much that I wanted to wear the dress my entire wedding day without changing for the reception. I decided that I wanted the dress to be cut in half so that it would turn into a cocktail dress. She did the alterations and it was amazing!!! I bought some sassy shoes and some bling jewelry and I felt like a million dollars! My family and friends were all tears when I walked toward my future husband. Everyone loved my dress and told me that I looked like a princess. I was amazed myself at how beautiful it is and how special it made me feel. I even had my dry cleaner preserve it so that I can look at it anytime I want. So, my experience with La Scala Bridal Shoppe made that part of my dream of having a magical day come true. I married the man of my dreams in the dress of my dreams. Maria could not have been kinder, sweeter, more welcoming, accomadating, reasonably priced and honest!! Not to mention tne fact, that she is an extremely competent and professional seamstress! Thank you Maria for my dress and the way it made me feel! To contact Maria, she is located at:
