La Traviata was the perfect venue for my small wedding and reception. The atmosphere is already beautiful, so I didn't need to add a bunch of flowers and/or decorations. They were ...
very accommodating with their food options and set up options. They print personalized menus with our names at the top. Guests were able to pick among three dinner options at the reception which was awesome. This was after cocktail hour with three appetizers floating around. The wait staff was amazing that night; they were so nice and so accommodating. The food tasting was also a great experience. The best part was when we went to pay at the end of the night, it was $1000 less than the quote with the gratuity added. They estimated the amount of alcohol in the quote and kept track of what we actually went through. My only issue was I didn't double check my third menu item from our food-tasting and that was not the option on the menu. However, it ended up being a better option for most.
Buyer beware.
The venue we used, The Lounge, is beautiful. There is a gorgeous stained glass window, the perfect backdrop for a ceremony. The lighting is romantic and lovely. The ...
area is private with your own bar and a space that can be set up any way you want. They have various technology ports available so if you are tech savvy you can get creative with the space.
The staff on the night of the wedding did their best with us. They bend over backwards to try and make the event what we had asked for when we signed the contract. Unfortunately they were ill informed and did not follow the instructions we gave them outlining everything we had agreed upon. This meant the appetizers were not ready until an hour after our guests arrived. Dinner was supposed to be immediately after the ceremony on family style platters. Instead as we sat down they started asking for orders. They corrected the situation as soon as we pointed out the error, but that meant the food was almost an hour late too. And dessert, which was meant to be set out buffet style during our reception showed up less than an hour before we were supposed to leave and was not at all what was requested (cheesecake, cake and tiramisu turned into mini-cookies and other assorted finger desserts I didn't like).
Oh, and my biggest personal pet peeve was the bar situation. We specifically picked out a selection of wine and beers that were to be served, FREE, to our guests. As soon as we arrived the bartenders started to serve liquor to my guests AND CHARGED THEM FOR IT. I overheard a guest pay $14 for a small generic liquor drink. Furious on so many levels. It makes my husband and I look tacky even though we had alcohol covered. And all because they didn't have a list of our drinks or bottles of the options on the bar for guests to see what was available and paid for.
At the end of the night, when it was time to pay the bill, my husband talked with the staff about all the errors (I was too upset to talk with them myself immediately) and they were too afraid of the owner to make any concessions, so they had my husband call the owner himself to tell him what happened. The owner, Mario, then proceeded to tell my husband that he never wanted to speak to us again and berate us for calling him so late (it was before 10p).
There were some positives. Like I said, the venue itself is beautiful. They do have some hook ups for technology, but they aren't advanced and not consistently working, so have the right connectors and test it all out a day or two before your event if you take your chances. And when it started raining Mario was kind enough to let us into the bar area prior to our event while we took photos under the awning next door.
Mario is a nice guy. I believe he truly wants to have beautiful events in his space. He just needs a professional event planning to follow through on the details. He kept writing everything we said down, but each time we called him or he called us a detail was wrong or missing or changed from what we discussed. By the day of the wedding I had no confidence anything was going to be how I had asked it to be, and unfortunately I was right. In hindsight I would have picked a different venue.
GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. And ask to speak directly with the manager who will actually be at your event and not just the owner. Mario will promise the world to you for a great price, but he won't be the one who has to follow through on all those promises.
It's a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance.;This venue if smaller so it's perfect for a wedding of 60 or less.
