Ladybird Bakery

Ordered our wedding cake from here and loved it. I actually grew up down the block from this bakery, and would go there as a kid with my parents, so it felt particularly sentimental. The cake was delicious, the tasting process was seamless and enjoyable, the person we worked with was friendly and helpful, and nothing felt overdone or overpriced. They were especially helpful in working with our budget, and suggested a display cake and a sheet cake so that we'd have a beautiful cake but would be able to serve everyone. The display cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for—we actually found one on their instagram that we liked, but I wanted different colours. I went in and recoloured it in Photoshop, and they recreated it exactly as we'd hoped. They were also pretty good about working with allergens—the groom has a fatal allergy to tree nuts and peanuts, so we were very cautious about where we got the cake from. His allergy is bad enough that we didn't want to risk a cross contamination induced ER trip in the middle of our reception, so he did end up with a separate groom's cake (since Ladybird Bakery does have nuts in the kitchen, although they took precautions and prepared our cake separately) but we felt confident enough about the safety to have it at the wedding and to have our guests eating it. Ultimately the groom tried it the next day and was fine. I highly recommend this bakery and I'm so glad they're still around!

We loved our cakes from Ladybird Bakery! Melanie was great to work with. We went in for a tasting to sample flavors, and decided on vanilla buttercream with chocolate mousse and pudding filling and a carrot cake! We had one small 3-tiered cake decorated just as we described, and two backup sheet cakes. Highly recommend working with this wonderful neighborhood bakery!

Highly recommend working with Melanie and Ladybird bakery for your wedding! My husband is a dessert/cake lover and after trying their Brooklyn blackout cake we knew we had to inquire about having them do our wedding cake. The tasting was so much fun, you’re able to mix and match all the different cake options, fillings, and icings to get your perfect combo! During the tasting Melanie came out and discussed our picks, made a recommendation to mix the buttercream and cream cheese frosting (so good!), and about the cake design. We followed up the next week to confirm our order and book! Melanie was responsive through the whole process and delivered our cake the day of + placed our flowers on it. My husband is still raving about the cake and we love that we can just pop on over to get another piece whenever we want! Thank you so much again Melanie!!

As big fans of Ladybird Bakery's Brooklyn Blackout cake, we knew it was a no brainer that our wedding cake had to come from here. Melanie was very accommodating and easy to work with, and helped make recommendations on portions for our guests. We ended up going with a completely different cake thanks to the fun tasting session, where we got to try all the different cake, filling and frosting variations. We had SO many guests rave to us about our cake during and after our wedding – people went back for multiple servings, and many told us it was exceptionally delicious. We're so happy with the way it turned out!
