Smoky Mountain Candlelight Elopement
Lakeview at Fontana is a boutique adults-only inn nestled on 35 forested acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Bryson City, NC, just minutes from downtown and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. For couples who want their celebration to feel less like an event and more like an exhale, our Candlelight Elopement Retreat offers something rare: an intimate, unhurried beginning. Or a deeply meaningful return.
The retreat is designed from the ground up for couples who value presence over production. Whether you're eloping, renewing your vows, or simply choosing to mark your love in a way that feels entirely your own, your experience unfolds privately on our mountain property at your pace and no one else's.
Your day begins with an early check-in to our Cloud 9 Elopement Suite, complete with sweeping views of Fontana Lake. From there, the experience moves on to the signing or vow ceremony. As evening falls, you'll retreat to a private treetop soaking cabana perched above the forest canopy, reserved exclusively for your celebration. For three hours, candlelight glows, champagne chills, and the trees hold the quiet around you. A curated charcuterie board and complete privacy complete the night. The next morning is intentionally slow — French press coffee and fresh pastries delivered at your door, and a noon checkout that gives you nowhere to rush toward. It's an experience designed to feel like the beginning of something, not the end of a to-do list.
Between moments, the rest of the property is yours to enjoy. Wander a forested hiking trail, unwind in a chair hammock tucked inside one of our open-air lounging casitas, or book a restorative massage in our on-site spa. We offer complimentary coffee whenever you need it, and our thoughtfully stocked Honor Markets mean you're never far from something good. Lakeview was designed for adults who want to slow down — and an elopement or vow renewal here is simply the most intentional way to begin.
The couples' only retreat includes one night in our Cloud 9 Elopement Suite, a three-hour sunset-to-dark candlelight soak, champagne, charcuterie, one hour of professional photography, marriage license completion, and a dedicated on-site host. All couples welcome. Up to 4 witnesses allowed (witness accommodations not included in package).
*Please know our small team focuses on the current season so we can provide a truly meaningful Elopement experience to our couples which means we have not opened up bookings for future seasons yet. We close for winter on Sunday 11/22/2026.

I just spent 4 nights at Lakeview At Fontana for a meditation retreat. It was so relaxing and wonderful. The place is very secluded and beautiful, but also close to Bryson City. I can’t recommend this place enough.
I love the bedding there. It...

What a wonderful find! This place is lovely. The views are incredible, it’s so peaceful and relaxing. Tetia is kind and welcoming. The room and the bed are so comfortable I didn’t want to leave. I lay in bed looking out the window at the ...
lake and mountains and it made my heart sing. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the swinging chairs and the deck and reading a book. A little piece of quiet and calm after a busy road trip. We will definitely come back!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This place was absolutely amazing. It is a little gem tucked away into the hills with breathtaking views. The rooms were thoughtfully decorated with comfort in mind. Instructions were easy to follow. Adelle was very tentative while giving you ...
privacy and space. If you stay here the soaking cabanas are an absolute must. It was heavenly to soak in the tree tops and the views were absolutely stunning. Would highly recommend. You will not regret it.

As a mom, this weekend getaway was exactly what I needed. Lakeview at Fontana was peaceful, quiet, and incredibly restorative from the moment I arrived. It’s rare to find a place where you can truly slow down, sit in complete solitude, and just...
read a book while surrounded by such calm beauty — but this place delivered exactly that.
The entire property is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed to make you feel instantly at ease. Every space felt comfortable, cozy, and intentional, creating such a peaceful atmosphere throughout the stay. The staff was also exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which made the experience feel even more special and relaxing.
And the treetop soak was absolutely phenomenal. It was one of the most peaceful, unique, and calming experiences I’ve ever had. Sitting in the soaking tub surrounded by the trees felt like total escape and serenity.
If you’re looking for a quiet, restorative getaway — especially if you’re a mom needing a moment to breathe and recharge — I cannot recommend this place enough.

Really enjoyed this place, but I have a couple of things to share that I feel would be helpful to those considering this beautiful place. Firstly, the soak is a MUST. Spend the money and do it. I feel like it was a once in a lifetime, magical e...
xperience. The rooms were as described. Simple, comfortable and spotlessly clean. One thing to be aware of is that this is a very old Lodge that had been redone. While the air conditioning was plenty cool, there is no central heat/air. Our room was cold and comfortable, but the bathroom was extremely stuffy and had no air flow. The view from our room was stunning, however, due to the old style of windows the view was somewhat obstructed which was a bummer. Also there is absolutely no air or heat in the common areas including the Bath & Body Shop/ welcome area & the Wi-Fi Lounge. We went in July and it was absolutely suffocating most of the time. With this being an unplugged resort, we were disappointed to not be able to spend more time in those places. Another thing I feel compelled to point out is that if you have any mobility issues you may want to rethink visiting this Resort. There are no handrails anywhere. There were about 30 steps leading from the Wi-Fi Lounge to our room and this is a place that has frequent rain and dew so there are slippery spots. I definitely didn't go up and down as much as I wanted because of that. Also, we went to the pool once but chose not to return due to the steep steps and no handrail. There is even a portion that is rock and grass only! The risk of a fall outweighed the reward for me. We did mention that to the owner and she stated they are working on a solution for that. The owner was extremely kind and accommodating. All in all we would return-especially for the soak experience. We were disappointed in the lack of handrails and comfort level of the lobby area. If we had known to expect that, I think we would have requested a ground level unit. We really did enjoy our stay and this is a beautiful property.
