We were married here on 10/11/26. The venue itself is gorgeous, and we had a wonderful wedding day thanks in large part to our fantastic band, day of coordinator, and caterer. Unfo...
rtunately, our experience working with the venue owner, Kimberly, was unprofessional, and overall deeply disappointing. In hindsight, we wish we had taken the owner's role in the experience much more seriously before committing to this venue.
Throughout the planning process, Kimberly repeatedly overstepped professional boundaries and created confusion where there didn't need to be any. She emphatically told us that wedding coordination was not part of the services she provided, yet she repeatedly involved herself in coordination matters anyway, including reaching out to people connected with our other vendors without our knowledge or consent. We were told that she tried to recommend to another vendor to charge us more for services that she believed were out of scope for them.
While her involvement was still collaborative up to the day of the wedding, the reason that we're rating this venue so poorly today was because of her behavior on our wedding day. We recently learned that Kimberly made a public announcement to our guests about our decision to proceed with an outdoor ceremony despite the rain, explicitly placing blame on the bride and criticizing the decision in an announcement to the guests. This was completely inappropriate, and multiple guests have since approached us to describe how pointed her announcement seemed.
As if that weren't enough, one of our closest relatives also overheard Kimberly gossiping about us to her staff on our wedding night while we were upstairs enjoying the reception. The gossip included swearing, belittling, and disparaging us and our families. It was deeply upsetting to that family member. It was deeply upsetting to us as well and made the end of our wedding day unnecessarily negative.
We want to emphasize that the venue itself is beautiful, and we genuinely had a great time at our wedding. Our band and caterer were fantastic, and we are grateful for the part they played in making the celebration so enjoyable. But a beautiful property cannot compensate for an owner who repeatedly oversteps boundaries, and speaks about clients with vitriol when not even alone.
Our advice to anyone considering this venue is to think very carefully about whether you are willing to work with Kimberly before signing a contract. You are not simply booking a beautiful location; you are entering into a working relationship with the person who runs it. In our experience, that relationship added stress to a process that was already demanding. Her pointed and demeaning approach has tainted our wedding day memories. We went into this expecting a venue owner who would respect our decisions, communicate professionally, and work collaboratively alongside our hired vendors. That is not the experience we had.
It showed true character how business owners reacted during COVID. I paid off my wedding long before the date and took my count from 130 to 30. Kimberly had already spent my money ...
“to feed her animals.” She told me she has no money to give. Eventually she said she would give us back $1,500 which is nothing. My husband offered her a payment plan to make it easier on her. It is about to be my second wedding anniversary and we haven’t seen a penny or a response. It’s just really sad this beautiful venue has an owner like this. Overall disappointed, I also met another bride who got married there with the same situation.
With so many venues to choose from, it all came down to the people you are dealing with. We live in the Hudson Valley and the future in-laws reside in Saratoga; there is no shorta...
ge of award winning venues to choose from. We also work in customer service sales oriented industries; we know what to look for in a person who is going to perform vs a person who is just going to do the job.
Like so many couples, our daughter's wedding had been delayed a year. We were lucky that another June date was available. Kimberly was super to work with through all of this and I have a great deal of respect for what she had to go through during this difficult time.
From day 1, we were so impressed with Kimberly. She is absolutely passionate about what she does. Lakota Farm is her farm, her venue and her home. There was a sense of honest understanding with her as she and her staff created a dream wedding for our daughter and new wife. They knew the questions we needed to ask and had answers and options for us to work with. For myself it had that shabby chic feel I was looking for, everyone dressed to the nines eating off of mismatched antique fine china with real silver flatware
Lakota is also a working farm. The details of the property itself were so unique and so in tune to what is available to a working farm. Despite a windy gray day, the photos of the landscape were amazing. Many of our friends are involved in the horse industry or are animal lovers. They were so impressed with the entire set up.
Finally, in the midst of a fiasco a week before. Kim stepped up to help advise. This was something only someone with experience in the industry could offer and made it all work out. We will be forever grateful to all she did for us. Kim loved our daughters and developed a relationship with them that will last a lifetime
Lakota’s Farm is a gorgeous venue in a gorgeous location. If you are looking for a rustic barn setting and a dream wedding, this is the place! (I mean, check out the chandelier in ...
the barn and the beautiful horses) Working with the team at Lakota’s was always a great experience. From the first phone call, through all communication, during, and after our wedding.. they made us feel like family. They were so helpful with any questions and really helped to give us the wedding of our dreams. Casey and Kimberly are just the sweetest lady’s to work with and we plan to travel back to the farm to attend some of their events in the future!
My husband and I are extremely happy that we had our wedding at Lakota's Farm! Kimberly and her team were friendly, professional, and accommodating to us and our family throughout ...
the entire process. Months later after our September 2019 wedding, our friends and family still keep telling us how absolutely beautiful the entire venue was, including the two private buildings for the couple and the wedding party to get ready separately, the guest greeting station, our outdoor ceremony location, the cocktail hour bar, the reception room upstairs in the barn, and of course the grounds themselves. We would highly recommend Lakota's, and can't wait to go back for one of their public events like the Farm-to-Table Dinners!
Where to even begin?! Lakota’s Farm is as perfect as venues come. Nestled in the foothills of Washington County, the property manages to capitalize on the very best of Upstate New ...
York in every way! From the pastoral views of the surrounding mountains and farmlands to the impeccably kept grounds, Lakota wowed from beginning to end! The barn itself has been restored and reimagined with creativity and function in mind, and serves as a tastefully rustic and raw canvas for your own vibe and vision! With the help of Kim, Alan, Kasey, and the entire Lakota team, our “mid-century modern botanical garden” vision was realized - partnered with the well thought out flow of the grounds and barn space it had our family and friend’s gushing! We would highly recommend Lakota’s Farm - there’s nothing else like it!
OMG fantastic. I have attended a wedding as a guest a year ago which was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The venue was beautiful, and the views were just...
gorgeous. I then saw that they were hosting a Farm to Table Dinner this past Friday, which we attended, and again the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food, service and venue were just fantastic.
We couldn’t be happier that we had our wedding at Lakota’s Farm, and that we had the honor to work with Kimberly.

s wrong at a wedding? We don’t have one of those — not a single one. Everything was 100% perfect, in large part due to the amazing team at Lakota’s Farm.
Kimberly is one of the sharpest, most on it people I’ve ever met. She’s a spitfire, a firecracker, however you want to call it — bursting with positive energy that’s focused directly on the couple, making sure everything is ironed out and turns out perfectly. She accommodated every request and whim, answered every question, and offered fantastic suggestions and advice when we needed it. She met with us in person prior to the day of multiple times, and even over video chat a few times since we are out of towners.
On the day of the Lakota staff helped us every step of the way. Casey, Kelli, and Audra were fantastic, and made me feel like the most special bride there ever was. If there were any hiccups or problems, I didn’t know about them — the staff handled it all.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the beauty of the venue itself. Every guest raved — and for good reason. The location of the gorgeous barns in the rolling hills is awe inspiring. I was lucky enough to steal away for a few minutes to myself to gaze around at the scenery. I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to celebrate our wedding in such a picturesque setting.
One of the most special parts of our day was when Kimberly teamed up with Tracey Buyce, her good friend and our photographer, to surprise me and my husband with FIVE(!!!) CORGIS to play with us during our first look photo session. We were so touched by the gesture, since it was our secret dream to have a corgi at the wedding.
Beyond all of the execution, which was — dare I repeat myself — PERFECT, we honestly loved getting to know Kimberly as a person. We feel that we have a friend forever in her, and we were so sad to leave her and her beautiful barn after the reception was over. We hope to return to Lakota’s Farm in the future, whether for another event, or just to say hi to Kim and her gorgeous rescue dogs.
Kimberly is pure talent. Don’t bother trying to catch up with her, because she’s always going to be seven steps ahead of you. Just sit back, relax, and let her make your wedding day as perfect as she made ours.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Wedding Barn at Lakota's Farm or the owner, Kimberly Finney. My husband and I got married there last month and it was straight out of...
a fairytale. When we first started looking at venues last year, the beauty of this space took our breath away and even though it was just the second venue we looked at, we booked it on the spot. The farm is stunning and full of gorgeous, picturesque spots. We had our ceremony out in the pasture and reception in the barn itself--which is full of everything you could think of for your wedding. Complete with spacious getting ready rooms for your bridesmaids and a decked out man cave for the groomsmen, an amazing bar and cocktail area, and the most beautiful reception space I have ever seen, this venue is literally perfect. It meant a lot to us to have a venue that felt intimate and our own, and Kimberly and her team do a wonderful job of making your event exactly what you imagined. And I have to mention the absolutely stunning horses! If you are looking for a person who will cater your wedding to your every need at a venue that is full of amazing indoor and outdoor space, look no further than Kimberly and the Wedding Barn at Lakota's Farm!
We could not love and recommend Lakota's Farm more!! My husband and I got married at the Wedding Barn in May this past spring, and it was an absolutely stunning day and experience....
First, Kimberly is the absolute BEST. She is filled with so much passion, positivity, and energy for what she does, not to mention incredible expertise and knowledge to help you plan the perfect wedding event for you and your partner! We were planning our wedding from afar, and Kimberly helped us iron out so many details, gave tons of recommendations for vendors, and helped us handle last minute issues with so much ease. I don't know how we could have done it without her!
Next, this venue is absolutely stunning, an unbelievable combination of rustic beauty and high end accommodations. The grounds are gorgeous, filled with so many wonderful nooks for guests to visit, take pictures, and plan special events throughout the day. My husband and I grew up with horses, and the authenticity of this barn was what immediately grabbed us. Yet, Kimberly hasn't left one stone unturned and has created a space that provides accommodations that make you feel like you're in an upscale downtown venue, while standing in the beauty of an outdoor farm and gorgeous wooden barn.
Our family and friends have been talking about our wedding and how much they loved the barn all summer!! You will not be disappointed if you book your wedding here. Kimberly makes you feel like family from the moment you start working with her, and we are so grateful we could start the next chapter of our lives in this amazing place.
Was lucky enough to be apart of a photoshoot done at Lakota. The scenery is breathtaking, the barn is simply amazing, I was in awe with the salon/bridal part of the barn. Absolutel...
y love Kimberly and her energy, she makes you feel right at home when visiting.
