Short story: Hire Kirstin! It will be the best decision you make for your big day. Hands. Down.
Long story: Every bride (or groom!) will be nervous about different parts of their wedding. For me, it was the dress and the photographer. I knew the food would be fine, I couldn't have cared less about the flowers, and I bought the linens on craigslist. But when I started thinking about getting a photographer that would be standing nearby the ENTIRE wedding, I started getting nervous. {The dress is an entirely different story.} I've had four siblings get married in Vermont, and all the wedding pictures have been good, but not great. Those photograhers did their job: the brides looked nice. When I started my search, the first photographer I called gave me an immediate bad vibe. And then, an acquaintance recommended Kirstin. So I looked at the website. And for the first time since getting engaged, I got excited about the photos. So we talked on the phone. And then we met for the engagement shoot. Those photos were amazing! Nay, they were epic. As it was winter in Vermont, we walked out on the frozen lake to have stunning photos of winter expanse. I am certain my husband and I will have those photos framed and in a prominent place in our home forever -- they are that good. Sometimes, engagement shoots can be cheesy and a little too staged. Kirstin did an excellent job making these photos real. And really amazing.
On the wedding day, she was present, but not overwhelming. She captured all the right moments, she kept us on schedule, and she helped guide my vision for the day. (Plus, she gave me the recommendation for my hair guy, who was also awesome.)
As for the wedding photos, WOW. Kirstin is an artist. I had a grumpy mid-twenties guy friend text me after seeing the photos and say, "You have amazing wedding photos. Most wedding photos are really meh. But yours are actually really impressive." Not only do I love the photos, I'm impressed with them. Personalities shine, joy exudes, love overwhelms.
Not to mention, it's really clear that Kirstin LOVES weddings. She was so excited for us -- every step of the way. As someone who has seen plenty of white dresses and twinkle lights, she made my husband and I feel like this was the best wedding she had ever been to. (Okay, it might have been!)
As for price, Kirstin was a little bit above the low end of wedding photographers in Vermont. Even though I had budgeted less, after meeting with her, I was more than happy to pay it for how artistic and beautiful the photos are, my relationship with her, and the knowledge (during planning) that I didn't have to worry about that aspect of the wedding.
Long story short: Kirstin was a pleasure to work with on what might have been the most stressful/hectic/perfect day of my entire life. Her photos have garnered compliments from family, friends, and random acquaintances alike. You do no wrong going with Lamonde Photography!
