Landis Valley was a the perfect place for us! The venue and grounds are beautiful and we appreciated having access to both the indoor barn and outdoor courtyard space. We also had a few guests with mobility concerns which were quickly understood and accommodated. Katelyn, the coordinator at Landis Valley, truly made it all worth it. She answered all our questions (and then some), was responsive, kind, and incredibly thoughtful.
I can't say how perfect Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum was for our wedding. Working with Katelyn Hess during the 2+ years my husband and I were engaged was such a pleasure. Katelyn was incredibly responsive, attentive, kind, and collaborative. It took a huge weight off our shoulders to know she was on our side throughout this process. The venue itself is simply beautiful. I felt we had so much space between the yellow barn, the stone shed, and the courtyard. I'm so happy with how everything turned out. It was a dream wedding at a dream venue!
The Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum was the perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. Everyone at the museum was lovely to work with and very communicative. Our guests raved about the venue and we had an amazing time. Our wedding was special and beautiful and Landis Valley was a major part of our big day's success!
We had a last-minute cancelation of our original wedding venue, and luckily Landis Valley had an opening on the exact day we needed. They were fantastic to work with, answering all my insane questions and needs for my Harry Potter-themed wedding. The space was perfect for what we needed, despite the rain! Highly recommend!
I loved this venue! The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and their are plenty of fantastic photo spots. It's a great indoor/outdoor venue. The firehouse is a beautiful building for a smaller wedding. We had about 80 people, and everyone fit nicely especially with the large barn doors open. My only complaint was the day of coordinator they provided arguing with us about being able to turn on the AC. Otherwise, it was such an amazing day at a wonderful venue!
Landis Valley is a beautiful place to have a wedding. When I was a young girl I had a cousin who got married at Landis Valley and it really made me fall in love with the location. I always knew I would get married there someday, and I did. The setting is wonderful and there are so many great places to take pictures. The staff is very helpful and Kathleen did a great job making our day one to remember. We had our reception in the Yellow Barn and it was dreamy. The twinkle lights that weave through the barn are so whimsical and the courtyard is such a nice element as well. The only thing I would say is the bathrooms could be updated. If Landis Valley worked on updating those it would be absolutely perfect. However, I would still recommend this to anyone who wants a stunning setting without breaking the bank.
It really is a special place.
I loved having our wedding here but they are very strict about everything. I actually work in the wedding industry so I know that my claim is valid. Regardless, I was very happy with the outcome of our wedding. When using this venue, the bride and groom need to do basically every aspect of the planning and prepping, so keep this in mind.
This venue is so very charming and of good value for an area that is becoming a hotspot for barn weddings. Jen, LVM's wedding coordinator is easy to work with, knows the space, and covers all the bases. We received so many compliments on the interior of the barn and the Village provides fantastic opportunities for photographs. You have many options for great vendors. All of our vendors came recommended by our venue and were above and beyond our expectations. The only negative was a socially awkward and overbearing site attendant who had the morning/early afternoon shift. Our other attendants were awesome. Definitely consider LVM for your event!
The barn was the perfect setting for our wedding. The lights inside created a beautiful atmosphere and since the barn itself was so beautiful it wasn't necessary to go overboard on decorations
This location is beautiful, our reception was lovely, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. We planned our wedding from out of state and repeatedly had problems getting in contact with their wedding coordinator. There were several inexcusable miscommunications (including availability of a staff member at the handicap rest rooms the night of our event), and some of their policies are a little outrageous for a wedding venue.
My husband and I held our wedding here on August 22, 2014. I will say up front that we had to pay for about 90% of our wedding on our own, so price was the absolute biggest factor in picking a venue. We also wanted something original and fun. We would've rather scrounged up the funds to host our wedding at a unique venue than pay a low-budget price to host it at a typical hotel dance hall.
We looked at one venue prior to touring Landis Valley Museum and thought that was "the" venue. However, after touring Landis Valley and returning home to compare prices, amenities, and overall feel, we immediately changed our mind. The venue we previously toured had a kitchen, which Landis Valley did not, but if it rained, we were not allowed to utilize the reception space as our Plan B ceremony space. We had to pay an extra $1000 to use another room. I thought this was quite the rip-off as I don't know anyone who can control when it does or doesn't rain. Landis Valley told us we could use the reception space as a rain shelter ceremony space if we needed to, and our day-of staff member would make sure that we had assistance in moving chairs inside.
In the end, we had a very easy time booking Landis Valley. Linda, our "tour guide" and point of contact at times, was very kind and made herself available anything we needed to visit the venue. Joyce, the director of sales, was the person we dealt with in the couple of months leading up to the wedding. She was very nice, albeit a bit pushy when it came to times, rules, regulations, etc. I feel like, as paying customers, we should have been given a bit more leeway off the bat (ex: she suggested that the DJ should not show up before 4:30 for our 5:00 ceremony and she did not seem open to negotiation). Overall, though, our service was wonderful and our wedding went off without a hitch. I was not in the immediate area at the time, but I was told that the DJ showed up around 4 and there was no issue.
This venue allows for outside alcohol (hard liquor for mixed drinks requires an extra fee, but a pre-mixed beverage, such as a mojito or hard lemonade is fine to bring on-site), catering, linens and flowers, which was a plus, as we had a DIY wedding. This was how we cut many costs. The only requirement was that each vendor contact the venue prior to the event...no big deal.
We ended up having a very laid-back BBQ food/vintage-themed wedding. We had a BBQ caterer come in and he served things like BBQ Pit Beef, Pulled Pork, Grilled Veggies, Mac n Cheese, Fruit and Veggie trays, etc.
If I could do it over again, I would not change a thing about our venue. It was lovely; you just can't beat the views or the quaint look of the barn (which is where our reception was located).
PROS: Overall price, setting, use of own vendors, use of the basement of the facilities for a bridal suite, ample parking, close to major highways (222, 30, 283, Turnpike), flexible staff (we were able to leave several items overnight to be picked up the morning after the wedding), and well-maintained landscaping.
CONS: We had to pay for everything individually (per table, per chair inside, per chair outside, etc.). Lastly, we were told that we shouldn't show up before 2 pm, yet when my husband arrived at that time, he was questioned as to why he didn't get there earlier because he was "allowed" to do so.
We loved our wedding and the venue helped make it so special. I highly recommend it :)
My husband and I recently got married at Landis Valley and it was everything we wanted and more.
I will warn those who are not DIY brides that if you want everything done for you then you will need to hire someone. They are a great value but you do need to do most everything yourself, which I was all for.
It gave us creative freedom and the venue was gorgeous! They do give you a list of suggested caterers but you can choose your own as long as they meet with the staff prior to the wedding day.
You do have to provide insurance for the wedding that covers them and yourself (it's like $300 one time payment it's not awful).
The place is absolutely amazing though! It still takes my breath away!
Landis Valley was not only a great value, but Linda who helped organize everything was so helpful! It was the perfect venue for a vintage themed wedding! I also road in on a horse and carriage with my dad!
Linda, from Landis Valley, was very helpful and willing to work with me. The venue is beautiful and was the primary reason for choosing this site. The Yellow Barn was beautiful and all my guests have commented on how beautiful it was. I would highly recommend to any bride who is willing to "do it yourself" as you must perform all set-up/clean-up the day of the wedding. This was not enough to stop me from having my wedding here!!!
Landis Velley Museum is the most laid back venue I have come across. Being a wedding florist, I have been to quite a few venues, but it was not a tough choice to pick Landis Valley! Very accomodating, relaxed, and helpful. Linda was the sweetest woman ever to work with.
We chose the Firehouse over the popluar yellow barn due to the size of our wedding, and it prooved to be just perfect for a wedding of 80-90, plenty of room for dancing!
The grounds of the museum are wonderful for photos too!
My husband and I couldn't have been happier with our choice to have our ceremony & reception at the Yellow Barn! The existing grapevine & twinkle lights really allowed us to save on our decoration budget. The inside of the barn is absolutely gorgeous at night time!
We highly suggest using one of their "preferred" caterers as there is limited electricity and no kitchen on the premises.
Overall we were really pleased with the staff and our experience!
We loved our location, the site is beautiful and the staff are INCREDIBLY helpful and kind during he stress of planning a wedding.
Amazing and affordable!
Wonderful to work with and very flexiable. Everytime I wanted to stop in to look at the site to see where I would place things Landis Valley allowed me to. They were very helpful the whole way through. Our wedding in the yellow barn was beautiful and perfect in every way!
Landis Valley is a gorgeous setting and my wedding turned out exactly the way that I had dreamed it would. The barn was the perfect backdrop for a rustic country feeling reception.
The yellow barn & courtyard at Landis Valley Museum provided a unique backdrop for our rustic wedding. The coordinator Joyce was a pleasure to work with and the venue is a fair price. It's ideal for DIY brides, as the barn is a blank slate just waiting for creativity. We loved everything about our wedding and our guests remarked at the uniqueness of the venue!
We were looking for an outdoor site, preferably a barn to have our DIY ceremony and reception. We came across the Landis Valley Museum's Yellow Barn on google. It was the first site we looked at and we loved it and booked it right away.
Pros:
- Ceremony and reception at the same place
- 5 hour total rental
- Gorgeous grounds complete with animals and a lake
- Inside of barn is spacious, clean and cool with beautiful lighting
- Bring in your own caterer, we supplied our own bar
- VERY DIY bride compatible!
- Friendly staff
Cons:
- If you bring in your own decorations, you're cleaning up EVERYTHING after the reception. Its very hard when all of your helpers are drunk!
This place would be so cute and quaint for a country wedding. When we visited it, we really liked it, but the floor is VERY uneven, which you need to consider if you have elderly guests. What I didn't like is that they nickle-and-dime you for every single chair and table that you need, which to me, started to add-up. We wanted it because it was generally a middle location for both of our families and neither family would have to travel too far. However, we chose Lauxmont Farms instead.
If you are a DIY Bride and love the outdoors this is it. We absolutely had the best day and the perfect location for our wedding.
We wanted to do everything ourselves and the staff did not bother us like other places would have. We had total control with everything. The only drawback is if it is a hot summer day and there is no ac. It was pretty warm for us in August but it rained just as we were about to be announced and that actually cooled things off for us. Other than that we loved it and had THE BEST TIME! We received sooooo many compliments on what a great setting - it definitely fit our personality. I would definitely recommend Landis Valley Museum to others.
I really loved the place! The barn was beautiful inside and out. The lights in the barn are what gave it the perfect touch. I also enjoyed being able to walk around to other buildings to take pictures.Landis Valley village is a great place for a wedding!
I planned most of my wedding from California, and picked Landis Valley from their website (and my mom's ok after she visited), and we could not have made a better decision. Joyce Perkinson was so helpful and the setting was AMAZING. All of our guest commented on how beautiful the setting was. The Yellow Barn was so beautiful that we needed to add very few decorations. Landis Valley is the perfect site for any couple who wants a beautiful, intimate and different setting for their wedding!
Don't get me wrong, this place is BEAUTIFUL, but unfortunately I just can't recommend them. The service was terrible. The ladies in charge give different responses to similar questions and they must not have a centralized location that they keep stuff on each wedding, as every phone call felt like step one all over again.
One time I emailed a question and also asked about visiting the property again in the following week or two and I got an email more than a month later asking me if my question had ever been answered.
The bathrooms are a sight to see. They may have been cleaned, but what they need is an update. They smell (even with the air fresheners I brought in) and they get backed up. Yuck!
I just felt like a paid A LOT of money for four walls (not to mention the chair and table fees on top of that) and received no service but rather a lot of stress. We got some beautiful, scenic photos, but if I had to do it all over I would go somewhere else. There are cheaper places in the area that do not require you to do everything yourself.
Weddings must be what keeps that museum alive, cause unless it is a special event, there are very few people there.
They were flexible with my rehearsal and the carriage rides, so that was a plus. Also, the carriage driver was awesome. The day-of on-site guy? Yeah, not so awesome.
