Larisa was with us the entire day from 1 - 10 PM, starting in the Bronx and ending up in Brooklyn. The wedding day was quite busy, but Larisa was on top of everything. ne-of-a-kind, looks like the photos could be included in a high-fashion magazine, but also realistically affordable and within our budget (It seemed too much to ask for in our wedding vendor search!). Larisa Shorina Photography met all of those requirements, so much so that I sometimes wondered, “What was the catch?!” She answered every single one of my e-mails (and text messages!) in a timely manner, offered to meet us for coffee to get to know us as a couple, and then offered to travel the 45-minute train ride to my venue to do a walk-through and help me plan out an itinerary. She arrived on time on the day of the wedding, offered to help our groomsmen with their boutonnieres, and maintained her patience with them bright and early in the morning, even joking around and fitting right in with them! Larisa was never invasive during the wedding and kept to a true documentary style, without staging moments, except for our formal portraits. At the same time, it felt like she was a friend at the wedding because of how kind, down-to-earth, and fun-loving she is - she fit right in. My husband and I are not naturally photogenic and she helped us let loose during our formal portraits. When I saw the photos for the first time, I was so surprised and ecstatic because it was exactly everything I hoped for and saw in her portfolio – I was just shocked that she was able to capture those poses with how nervous we were in the moment during our “first look.” She made us look like professionals! Larisa was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life - I mean that. She captured every beautiful moment of our wedding - nothing went unnoticed! Thank you so much, Larisa! ng. One month before the wedding Larisa even requested that we go visit the venue together so she had the lay of the land for the day of and was ready to go. We truly appreciated the effort and dedication it takes to do this. On the day of, she arrived very early and photographed us getting ready even though she wasn't contracted to start until later on. She was so pleasant and fun to be around - we're a bit of a camera-shy couple and Larisa's personality was so easy going, she made it a breeze. Our photos came right on schedule and in a wonderfully cool package. We're so happy with every last one of them. The only thing we were sad about: we don't have another excuse to work with Larisa anytime soon. LOVE!

I think those are incredibly important qualities to seek in someone you are not only doing business with, but also someone that will be capturing your true, joyous selves, as well as a multitude of friends, family and details, at one of the most personal events of your life. She is incredibly prompt in replying messages, and we knew where we stood with her at all times, whether it came to sharing ideas about creative direction, where to shoot our engagement photos, or how we would handle payments. She was organized and responsive, and that made us feel comfortable relying on her to capture such important, and multi-faceted events, personalities, etc. Further, Larissa was extremely flexible, and never seemed at all stressed (in fact she calmed US) about the hectic scene crashing around her that was mine and Bre's life during our wedding planning season and the wedding itself, in fact she seemed to be thrilled at the chance to join in with us at some of our events- she added so much to the experience by just being there, being joyful and calm, and having a blast! Larissa is incredibly warm and engaging, funny and so creative! If her professionalism is what opened the door to our easygoing selves, Larissa's humor, direction, and general friendliness, while still "giving you space" helped coax out mine and Bre's inner models! My wife and I are not naturally comfortable being photographed, but Larissa was patient, would joke with us and talk with us through our pictures, and she helped break me and Bre out of our self-consciousness so that we could take amazing pictures we are wowed by. Larissa is also an INCREDIBLE artist and photographer! She had amazingly creative ideas about where to shoot in our sleepy Brooklyn neighborhood, and an absolute vision as to how our day would best be captured. She has an inimitable style to her photos that is visually arresting, unique, and, very importantly for me and Bre, not cheesy. Our photos range from affectionate, to intimate, joyous, and passionate. Bre and I looked through scores of photographers on various wedding websites and Larissa's were by and far our favorite.That being said, while she has a definite artistic vision, Larissa also worked with us for shots or scenes we requested, so that we never felt like our voices weren't being heard, but just added to. Finally, the pictures arrived exactly when she said that they would, and she added some great panache to our wedding picture package delivery. She printed out many of the best ones on high-quality paper, included the rest on a thumb drive, and had them all bundled in a beautiful package. In all, if Bre and I renewed our vows every year, we would hire Larissa every time, as she is that thing that Bre and I imagine we'd want in any photographer we worked with: a professional and an artist.

I first found her online, and LOVED her work, but was a little nervous about hiring someone from the internet without knowing them. So we set-up a meeting and went over our vision and potential shoot locations. She was receptive, enthusiastic, and had great input and ideas. Our engagement photos were unreal! Just what we wanted and more. They were also a hit with our friends and family. Everyone kept complimenting them! Larisa was on-time and very professional, and she went above and beyond to ensure that we got all the shots we wanted. She schlepped all over town with us, and even helped carry our outfits while we were posing for photos-- a true professional! A few months later, she photographed our elopement at NYC City Hall. It was a rainy day, and my husband and I were nervous about how the pictures might turn out. Larisa had a positive attitude all day, and stood in the rain just to get the right shot! It definitely paid off, the pictures looked like out of a magazine. In fact, BRIDES Magazine featured our photos on their Instagram page. She even brought with her a NY Times to capture the date with our wedding rings. I think it was the hottest day of the summer (Aug 12.) and she didn't complain one bit about walking the Highline with us in the heat. Anything we asked for she captured. The delivered prints arrived just as she'd described them. They were perfect. It felt like I was reliving the magical day. I'd recommend Larisa to anybody! She's the best out there.

Even though Larisa was a single shooter for my event, she was able to command a large group of 25 friends and family to capture various portrait and group shots in a quick manner so that we could maximize our time, but never sacrificing quality or getting the perfect shot. Unlike many photographers out there, she never stopped taking photos and captured many candid moments that were among our favorite shots out of everything. Her editing style has a softer touch, which makes for perfect portrait and scenery shots and the tones are on the muted end of the scale as well which gives a very artistic vibe to the photo. ive shots of inanimate items (i.e. cake, tables, buffet, etc). Larisa also captured countless “moments”. For example, she got a picture of my mother gently holding my father’s hand under the table. I still do not know how she got that particular picture. There are countless other equivalently brilliant memories she recorded. Larisa was like a chameleon. She blended in, but was able to be present for all the important shots (and then some). The pictures were delivered in 3-4 weeks. She included a slide show that was perfect. She also included a 12 month calendar with pictures from the wedding. Every detail (down to the bow on the CD envelop was PERFECT. We did not know Larisa prior to hiring her. We based our decision on example pictures on her web site and reviews (like this one). I hope this helps other to hire Larisa. You will be glad you did.
