Laulima Tours and Activities, based in Honolulu, HI, provides tours and activities across the island, perfect for destination weddings or honeymoons. Aloha, My name is Luis, but I go by Lui. I was born here on Oahu as the 4th generation of Portuguese ancestry. My family was part of a workforce within the famous Hawaiian sugar industry. My father was in the US Navy and met my mother while stationed at Pearl Harbor. I was born and raised on the shores of Pearl Harbor and have developed an enduring interest in World War II Pacific history and our paradise island's rich history. After serving as a submariner in the Navy, I obtained a degree in U.S. history with a concentration in the U.S. in the Pacific. Having grown up on Oahu, I have heard first-hand accounts of the past, including the events of December 7, 1941, from my grandfather, who was on base at the time of the attack. As a storyteller, I enjoy telling these stories to interested people, whether it's diving into the events leading up to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor or driving up to the famed North Shore to learn about the island's history.
