When Laura didn't get our full catering business for our daughter's wedding her communications from that point on were short, curt, and not very helpful. Her price tag was way to expensive but we did choose to use her for the vegetarian dishes we wanted to serve on the day of the wedding.
On the day of the wedding she informed us that we had to pick up the dishes ourselves as she was too busy. What showed up was a horrible mess! Salad was afloat in eccess moisture, and the other items were tasteless and poorly prepared. She charged $1,400 for 4 small plastic containers of food, which could have been thrown together for less than $60 - and I was told this by a guest who is in the catering business. As a comparison, we had a vendor who provided lobster, steamers, corn on the cob, and cole slaw for over a hundred people for $3,200 - and they were hands on great with their service of 4 people working who were positive, helpful and great!
I have tried calling Laura Cabot several times but she does not return calls. Do not waste your money as my family and I feel that we have been taken advantage of to an extreme level.
What happened to the days when people took pride in offering a service? Sad when it affects someone's wedding day!!!!

Laura, hands down, is one of the best caterers I have ever worked with. She helped to make my mini covid wedding AMAZING, worked with me on a perfect menu that was DELICIOUS! I had my family members asking for containers to take things home. I cannot recommend Laura Cabot Catering enough. Thank you, Laura!!!!
Laura Cabot is the quintessential professional, who is patient and flexible (no "one size, fits all") for her! She worked with me tirelessly to make sure everything for our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner was perfect! The food got rave reviews and there were very generous portions. Thank you, Laura!
Laura Cabot helped us create a lovely celebration in honor of our daughter and son in law. It was not a typical wedding, but a relaxed and joyous outdoor party at a beautiful, private farm. Having requested locally sourced food, Laura prepared a wonderful array of Maine meat, produce, cheese, bread, fruit, and beverages. We hosted many international quests, and everyone from near and far praised the delicious and beautifully prepared food. Her crew was efficient, professional, and personable. Our planning began almost a year in advance, and we felt Laura's support and commitment to our success. Maine offers many unique settings for celebrations. Someone with Laura's experience, local connections, and dedication to excellence is a great benefit. We are very grateful!
I was very impressed with Laura Cabot Catering right from my first contact. I was planning my wedding reception with her and she was very responsive with each call I made. Her website is gorgeous and helpful and full of options. She really worked with me to help figure out a unique approach to my wedding reception from types of food to seating arrangements to crowd flow. She is super friendly and easy to work with. My plans kept changing and she was so adaptable! Very helpful for a stressed-out bride!
We cannot say enough good things about our experience with LCC! Laura was wonderful to work with from start to finish; I was immediately impressed upon our first menu planning meeting, how Laura was so receptive and inviting of our ideas, and could elevate them with an inspired and fresh take. We knew we were in good hands, but were even still blown away by the execution and deliciousness of everything on our wedding day, as were our guests! The entire LCC team was professional and organized, and beyond that, there was a sense of ease that's rare in the kitchen/catering world. The flow of the evening was perfect, and in large part due to Laura and her staff. Thank you, thank you, for your fantastic work that made our wedding truly exceptional!!
Where do I even begin? My entire experience working with Laura was so much more than just planning food for the big day. We spent close to a year communicating via email and phone as I live on the West Coast and could not make it out to Maine before the big day. By the time I had the privilege to meet her I felt like we were close friends.
I found Laura Cabot Catering doing a Google search in the Friendship Maine area. It was the first website I visited and was so impressed with the layout of the site and the mock menus and endless appetizer and entrée options. Shortly after I reached out to her we had a phone conversation and I learned that she was my late Grandmother's go-to caterer for parties and events. It felt serendipitous to find her and to feel like my Grandmother was a part of the wedding (we were married on her property in Maine).
Laura is kind and professional and a FANTASTIC chef. Working on the menu with her was one of the most fun, least stressful duties through all of the year's planning. I felt in every way that I was in excellent hands and enjoyed having her take the reigns. She created a brilliant menu with loads of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options for the guests attending with food allergies. The menu in its entirety was the highlight of the wedding. The displays she created were stunning and decadent. We had a table overflowing with cheeses, breads, olives, and fruits that I'm still getting compliments on from my foodie friends. The appetizers and main courses were mostly created from local fruits, veg and fish and were beautifully prepared and displayed. I also have to mention the signature cocktails and her lovely staff (one of the bartenders spent some time teaching a good friend how to make one of the cocktails). I was so nervous organizing the alcohol for cocktails, but her staff put together a really fun, energetic bar where I continued to find my closest friends congregating. It really felt like they were a part of the celebration and not just staff on the clock.
It's funny what you take away from your wedding and the things you feel sad about coming to an end. For me the toughest goodbye was with Laura. I cannot say enough about the experience. Coming from the Bay Area I was a bit wary about finding excellent catering for all my foodie friends, and Laura Cabot went above and beyond my wildest expectations. I would recommend her with overflowing emotion and positive review.
I couldn’t have been more pleased with Laura Cabot Catering, for my daughter's wedding.
Laura patiently worked with us to create an impeccable and elegant menu which among other things, included hors d'oeuvres, signature cocktails, entrees, desserts and a vast beer and wine selection. Laura's well-rounded consultation and connection to other wedding vendors, put us at ease right away.
Despite my daughters numerous requests and frequent changes, Laura's recurrent correspondence and outlining of fundamentals made the planning process a breeze on our end and also assured not one detail was overlooked.
Laura, with her professional and cohesive staff constituted a truly seamless operation. Set-up, Service, and Timing were all spot on.
Thank you, Laura Cabot Catering for providing a very personal experience. Not only was the bride extremely satisfied but the guests are still talking about the food a year later!
It was a dream to work with someone so creative and flexible for our wedding. A lot of caterers wanted to know our budget first, but we knew what we wanted and had no idea what it would cost. Laura allowed us to tell her about our dream spread for our wedding and then she priced it out based on the things we really wanted. She was wonderful about making suggestions and adjustments and could even accommodate my vegan cousin who is also gluten free and deathly allergic to nuts and soy (yes, I know). We loved how mobile Laura was and that she was able to work at our site, but keep in mind that if you want her to work in more unusual locations that she will have to rent equipment to do her fine work with her staff.
The process was incredibly creative and satisfying. She hosted a beautiful tasting in our own home for five (although I think only four are included).
Laura's food was absolutely divine. We had our rehearsal dinner catered by her (as a drop-off): Pulled pork, cold bbq chicken, amaaaazing potato salad, corn pudding, cookie platter (you know-- exactly the kinds of foods you want to eat the night before you squeeze into your finery). Our wedding buffet included 5 delightful passed hors d'oeuvres, an epic charcuterie and cheese spread, a family style salad and bread course, and then a buffet of grilled bistro steaks and salmon, roasted vegetables and fresh summer salads. We were in heaven! Laura outsources wedding cakes, but she did make some amazing peach and apple hand pies as an alternative to wedding cake! Her bartender made a haymakers punch (switchel-- awesomely refreshing) and raspberry leaf iced tea and they were happy to serve the alcohol that we had purchased.
We were incredibly happy with the wonderful service on the day of the wedding. The team she assembled to serve on the wedding day was incredibly friendly and professional. Five stars all around!
*A quick suggestion to guests working with your caterer on a larger event is to dump e-mail contents/conversation tidbits into a Google Doc that you can share with Laura. There was a lot of back and forth on the phone and e-mail that got confusing at times. Do yourself a favor and keep it all in one sacred location!
*Laura only took checks for our payments which was fine for us, but we would have appreciated being able to PayPal our payments as floating thousands of dollars in checks to the many vendors (none of whom took credit cards or PayPal) was rather nerve racking at times.
Laura executed our vision perfectly. A seasoned professional with an eye for simplistic elegance. Our special day was most memorable because of her expertise and knowledge. Her menu planning and unique pairings were unsurpassed. A true delight. A must hire for your special event!
LCC Catered our wedding in September. The food was very good but the planning process leading up to our big day was NOT worth it. Steer clear unless you are looking to add unnecessary stress and costs to your event. Our comments and visions were forgotten time and time again resulting in multiple phone calls to re-cover things that had already been discussed. Be prepared for MANY follow-up calls to discuss the same things over and over because Laura is 'SO Busy' that she can't keep her clients straight (and believes that is an acceptable excuse). Be prepared to be billed hourly for this 'consulting' and make sure you're willing to write her a PERSONAL check so it doesn't go against the business.
If you get a chance to go to an event as a guest with LCC preparing the food, I highly recommend it but if you're doing the planning, look elsewhere.
