Serving the Savannah, GA and Asheville, NC area, Laura Cate Weyman is an experienced wedding photographer. Laura’s work is heavily inspired by her parents and her childhood. Her mother and father, both visual artists, founded Savannah’s Daedalus Gallery. They taught her that art should say something important, an ethos that still influences her work. Her family moved country a few times during her childhood. Laura was born in France, then moved to Costa Rica, before settling in Georgia. This exposure to different lifestyles has taught her the importance of variety and being open to new experiences.
Laura is an intensely creative person and pursued a degree in journalism and creative writing at Georgia Southern University. She decided to enroll in photography classes in order to improve her journalism skills and this is where she discovered her passion for photography. Her skill for storytelling allows her to tell each couple’s love story through her images. She wants to learn more about people by taking portraits of them. Laura believes that candid, unposed images are the best way to do this. Photos by Laura Cate Weyman invite constant thought, remaining fresh and interesting no matter how much time has passed.
She wants to capture the nature of all of your loved ones for you to look back on and remember fondly. Before the wedding, she is available for engagement sessions and bridal sessions. Laura’s artistic eye can be complemented by a second photographer, to add a different style to your wedding pictures. She can transfer the final images as convenient digital files, for you to find your favorites in your own time. My love affair with photography began in college, as a journalism student. My professors insisted we learn to use a camera since being able to take our own photos makes you much more valuable in the industry. I enrolled in a photography class and immediately fell in love with it. Both of my parents were Artists for a living, so growing up I was constantly exposed to art. I have dabbled in painting my whole life, but photography felt so much more natural to me. My photography teacher noticed my natural eye for composition and offered me to shoot a wedding with her, and the rest is history ;)

Laura was hands down AMAZING!! We planned out wedding from out of state but she made her part in that a breeze. She worked with our hectic schedules to schedule our engagement shoot. When we met she was just so sweet and genuine. I absolutely am nervous about taking pictures but she immediately put us at ease and made us comfortable. Our engagement photos were flawless! Her coworker Alexis helped shoot our actual wedding and she too was great! She was hilarious and had us laughing the whole time! She was so professional while working with all of our big and crazy family photos. Laura met us after the wedding for photos with the horse and carriage. She knew how important those photos were for me and she made sure to show up and capture those moments for us. I already received the sneak peak and I am in awe at their beauty. I cannot recommend these ladies enough!

Working with Laura has been a dream! If you can't tell from her photos alone, she's got an amazing eye and is so talented. On top of that, she's kind, collaborative, and thoughtful in everything she does. She had wonderful location recommendations/ideas for both our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos.
Laura also has a very calming energy, which is helpful for those who may be uncomfortable in front of the camera.
10/10--would recommend! A pleasure to work with.

The biggest compliment I can give to a photographer is that I didnt even know they were there. There were so many moments during our wedding that I thought "I wish Laura was here to capture this moment" and then when we got our photos back THERE IT WAS! She and her team did such an amazing job capturing every moment without being an imposing camera in your face. Thank you Laura Cate & Team!!

I cannot stress enough how incredible Laura was! She made our day so easy and fun. She captured every aspect of our day from getting ready until the music stopped. Her and her partner gave great direction and made the day seamless. I am so happy with all our pictures and am so lucky to have these special memories captured for the rest of our lives !

Laura and her second were incredible. Not only were they flexible and understanding during a potential hurricane messing things up; they came through and delivered some incredible photography! Laura bent backward (literally) for us and we're so thrilled with the results. Highly recommend Laura to anyone needing a photographer in the Savannah area!

Laura Cate did a phenominal job with our engagement and wedding photos. She made us feel comfortable and both she and Dave were a pleasure to work with. I never felt like I was doing fake poses and Laura Cate helped to ease any tension we were feeling by chatting with us and making us laugh. The photos are perfect. We look natural, relaxed and happy in them. Laura Cate totally captured how excited we were to marry each other.

Laura was fantastic to work with. We had one or two photos we really wanted and they're the first ones we show people. The feel of her photos completely captured us and our special day. She gave us a sneak peak before we'd even fully recovered from our wedding and her turn around time was great. I would definitely recommend Laura.

If I could give Laura 1,000 stars, I would! We hired her for our engagement photoshoot in Savannah even though we are from Ohio. She knew the best locations to take photos all throughout Savannah based on our style. She is SO creative - all of her photos are so unique because of her knowledge of photography and how to use the Savannah landscape to make your photos memorable. She really takes the extra time to get to know you and make sure the photos are exactly what you were looking for. I can't say enough good things about her!

Booked with Laura Cate for our wedding in December and *wow*. My husband and I are not the most comfortable in front of the camera but Laura led our private session with such grace and openness that really produced some INCREDIBLE photos.
Ceremony shots captured all of our loved ones and such sweet moments during our vows- the lighting on these is just perfect. But TALK about lighting... I think our post-ceremony/cocktail hour photos might be my favorite. We had an amazing sunset view and Laura Cate's skill really *shined*. With a large and rambunctious family and group of friend, I was a little nervous that we wouldn't be able to rally everyone together but she did an impeccable job in giving direction to get the perfect shot! Finally, with our outdoor/tree lit reception and live band the vibe was already amazing. Looking at the photos from that time, the personality's of my guests are just incredibly captured and are the most fun to look at. I honestly cannot say enough great things about Laura Cate and will not hesitate to recommend her to friends and family in the future! <3

Laura shot my wedding and also did an engagement session with me and I could not be happier with how the pictures turned out!! Laura is very professional and has such talent! I am so thankful we did the engagement session before our wedding, we got to know her and it made my husband and I feel so much more relaxed on our wedding day! There was so much sun (early ceremony) which I was worried about, but Laura did amazing with the photos and the lighting l am obsessed with our pictures! Laura definitely knows her stuff and I will be booking her again for sessions in the future.

Absolutely in love with the work Laura did for my wedding! Good timing on getting photos back! She captured all our special moments and the photos were absolutely perfect! On top of that she was wonderful about communication and making sure I was 100% satisfied after everything was complete. I was lucky to have found her! Highly recommend for any event.

Laura took engagement photos for my partner and I. She perfectly captured our soft love for one another, and made us extremely comfortable through the whole process. She allowed us to take the reigns, while also suggesting potential poses she thought we would enjoy. We ended up with silly candids that represents how much fun we had, as well as more serious and moody photos. A wonderful eye for golden sunlight, Laura made our engagement photos more beautiful than I could have imagined.

We hosted our daughter's wedding 11/2/2019 on the beach at Tybee and a reception in a gorgeous beach house backyard. We hired Laura Cate - and she is amazing- professional (on time, friendly, charming, hard worker...) toke stellar photos both staged and natural, she is an incredible communicator, a natural at rounding up 100 people and making sure all the important family type shots were taken (groom's side, bride's side, couple and the grandparents, etc) Laura Cate is super talented, has a great eye for taking great pictures, she is very skilled, friendly, organized and so much more.... and really we are so very thrilled we hired her for our daughter's beautiful beach wedding (our daughters one and only - or the next one she gets to pay for LOL) ! A million plus star review (if we are able to give that many) to Laure Cate.

photographer, she spent countless days looking at every single photographer in Savannah before choosing Laura. I let my lady call the shots with a lot of the wedding but photographers are a huge deal- you spend all this time, money and energy on your wedding date but a good photographer who can capture all the work you put in is imperative. I am so happy we went with Laura as our wedding photographer. We felt nervous posing, but Laura took all the stress off photos by directing us to get all the best shots. My wife wanted the pictures to be perfect, but she was honestly blown away with how amazing all of Laura’s pictures were. Our flower girl barely wanted to look at anyone but Laura even managed to charm her into some great photos as well. She helped guide our families into all the best shots, she knows how to capture people’s good angles and she even got a bunch of surprising creative shots before our ceremony that we love. When we got those pictures back from Laura, my wife almost cried with how relived and excited she was to have all of the work we put into the wedding captured in such a beautiful way. We only had about an hour and a half before sunset to capture all the pictures we needed on the beach and Laura went above and beyond to get every single shot we wanted and more. My wife is happy and so am I. From a husband to other future husbands, choose Laura. She knows how to make you and your lady look good and your wife will thank you for choosing a photographer who knows how to capture all her good angles.

Laura was such a joy to work with and captured our wedding memories in such a beautiful and artistic way. We will cherish the photos she took for the rest of our lives. Her shots were so candid and truly captured the essence and beauty of our wedding in such a magical day. Everyone felt so comfortable and at ease with her that the photos truly turned out candid and felt very in the moment. She has is so gifted at what she does and has such a natural eye for photography. If you’ve been shopping around for your wedding photographer look no further, Laura is the best choice around and if i had to do the whole thing over I’d pick her every time!
