January 2019 we stopped being able to contact her. Before this she was quick to respond to emails and phone calls. I emailed her many times after our engagement shoot and finally hear back mid February. She said she had sent the photos earlier but the email had b I need back to her for some reason. After that we were barely able to contact her. At our wedding in July 2019, she promised me, my husband, and my mother that I would get sneak peeks within 72 hours. When I didn’t here from her for 2 weeks I emailed her. I continued to email, text and call multiple times a week until she finally got us our gallery 3 days before she would’ve been in breach of contract. Additionally she oversells and over promises. She promises a “full day experience” but limits it to one hour of getting ready through the first dance. That’s not a full day. All of what she promises to make herself “different and better” are actually not better at all. Do not hire her and don’t let your family or friends hire her either. Or at least hire at your own risk.

ura Robinson for our wedding in January 2019. Laura was excellent for the months leading up to the wedding. She responded to all our emails promptly, was very helpful with vendor recommendations and other planning details, and overall was a very supportive, caring person. She also took excellent engagement photos, and we were so excited for her to photograph our wedding. The day of the wedding, Laura continued to be excellent. She got all the photos we hoped for and then some. She and her husband, Nathan, were outstanding in keeping our schedule running, getting everyone in place, and staying completely on top of everything. She was able to take photos without being intrusive or pushy, and we received many compliments from our guests throughout the night. However, the day after the wedding, I couldn’t find a variety of personal items that had been in my getting-ready room, including a letter my husband wrote me, our handwritten vows, and the box that my grandparent’s wedding rings came in. My maid of honor finally figured out that Laura had taken these items to take more photos of them at her studio. Laura confirmed this with me on the phone. This seemed very odd to me, but at this point I trusted her, and she promised to mail the items to our house by the time we got back from our honeymoon. Once we returned from our honeymoon, we still did not have the box of items, though we did receive beautiful sneak-peak photos of the wedding. Laura promised to send the box the next week. Still nothing. Then she said the post offices were closed because of cold weather, so she would send the box the week after. By the end of February, she stopped returning my calls and emails all together, and we still had not received the box. In April, we finally we got all our photos delivered, a few weeks after the contractual deadline. Thankfully, the photos were absolutely beautiful, and I am very glad we have so many wonderful memories captured. At this meeting, Laura again promised to mail the box of personal belongings the next day. This was the last time we talked to Laura in person. I have continually emailed, called, and texted Laura for the last four months, and she has not responded to me at all. My husband and I are extremely saddened that she took our irreplaceable items without our permission. We also have a $500 credit for a photo album included in our photography package that we have not been able to redeem, because Laura refuses to answer our calls. Laura even updated her website with photos from our wedding, so it is obvious that she is online and working on her business, and yet refuses to respond to us. I am absolutely flabbergasted about how the last nine months have gone, since Laura was so great up and through the wedding day. It saddens me to post this, but at this point I don’t feel like I have any other options, and I hope this will prompt Laura to reach out to the clients she has been ignoring.

ervice level takes a dive pretty quickly and I wish I had interviewed more photographers to find the best match for our personalities. I work with clients for a living and was shocked at what I experienced with Laura. At first Laura will make a big deal about how she makes a wedding day timeline for you and how great and unique it is that she does this, because it helps make sure she can fit all the shots that you want into the day. But then if you ask her questions as you go through planning (do I need to pay for additional bridal suite hours? When does family need to show for portraits?), she will tell you she’s your photographer, not your wedding planner, and that she doesn’t do timelines that early (at one point, 4-6 weeks before my wedding). Now, for someone less detail-oriented and with less client-facing experience than me (and there are many), this might not be an issue and you may be more of a go-with-the-flow person. For me, it was a big source of frustration at one of the most stressful points in wedding planning. Once she made my timeline, it was basically a form timeline with none of my wedding’s nuances included (including the fact that I had no bridesmaids, only MEN of honor). Huge source of stress to try to get that fixed when I needed it at least a week prior for the rest of the planning. On my actual wedding day, in December (it gets dark early!), she forgot her flashes at home – in Delano. We had paid for full-day coverage with two photographers (her and her husband). She had to send her husband back to Delano from downtown Minneapolis, which lost us two hours of coverage and forced us to lose shots in the groom’s suite and with our wedding party in one of the locations we wanted. My wedding party and mother were very upset on my behalf, and I did my best to just enjoy my day and not let it set me off. Then, she was late getting us our photos. She has 90 days in her contract and would not even give us an estimated completion date until she had already past her own deadline. Because we wanted out photos, and frankly wanted to be done with her, we high-tailed it to Delano at the last minute on a Sunday night – that’s right, we had to go to her just to get a link to our gallery. She makes you come to her studio for in-person reveals no matter how inconvenient, and despite her missing her own deadline, so that she can try to sell you overpriced books, prints, etc. I wouldn’t even be writing this now, 9 months after our wedding, if she wasn’t ignoring my other vendors’ requests for photos of their work. It is in your contract with her that you cannot provide images to your vendors, they have to request them from her – that’s fine, it’s for commercial use, I get it. But she has been ignoring my florist’s multiple requests and is now ignoring MY requests for her to send my florist photos. She has had an out of office on, and every time I wait until it says she’s supposed to be back and send a follow-up, and the return date changes again. Laura takes really great photos but she is incredibly unprofessional at the end of the day. It is not what you want to deal with during your wedding planning. There are enough great photographers in the twin cities who will treat you like a priority AND take beautiful photos of your day.

or to the day by the way. We had numerous grievances we shared privately with Laura once we finally received our wedding photos in April. Including, but not limited to: her lack of communication throughout the entire process, portraits we specifically asked for but did not receive, late delivery of photos, unfulfilled boudoir session $800 value, contractually agreed upon items including Smartphone Album App (which she apparently doesn't even do anymore but still puts in her contract), 90 minute pre-wedding consultation, timeline, etc. We had supposedly come to an agreement on June 2nd, 2019 for her upgrade our album and offer an additional $500 photo credit as retribution. Little did I know that was the last I'd hear from her (except when I used a different phone to try and call, weird she finally picked up and promised to call me back within the hour, never heard from her). I have tried probably over 50 times in the past two months via text, phone call, voicemail and email, with nothing back. We are still wondering if we will ever get our album or agreed upon photo credit. So bottom line- If you want someone who will take nice photos but will completely ignore all forms of communication for numerous days leading up to the wedding (to the point where you have to hire a back up photographer in case she didn't show up) and for MONTHS after she is your gal. Hiring her was our only regret for our wedding day.
