Sophie literally made a playlist for our engagement shoot session with all of our favorite songs / artists (*tears*)! If I had any wedding questions throughout the entire process, I texted Laura! Questions about vendors to timelines all the way down to what my mother in law should wear 😂 Laura was always there to help! As for our pictures, they turned out better than we could have EVER expected - I can literally hear the laughter coming out of these photos. We will truly cherish them forever! willingness to bear whatever weather came for the classic Iowa spring weather that day! It rained, snowed, sleeted, was windy and unpredictably cold for our late April wedding. Laura made sure we got every shot we wanted and much more in the little amount of time that our family and friends wanted to be out in the cold. Laura was the best hype woman, telling us how great we looked and how cute we were together with every shot. It made my husband and I feel so comfortable being ourselves in front of the camera. The detail photos were so stunning in her personally designed flat lays, and captured the attention to detail that I had as I was picking pieces to have on our wedding day! Looking through our wedding photos (which we got back within just a few weeks of our wedding) felt like her photos truly told a story of our wedding day. She caught such beautiful and raw emotions from our first looks, to the ceremony, and family photos, cocktail hour and special reception moments. We are forever grateful to Laura for her beautiful work and we cannot recommend her enough for your wedding day!

first meeting with Laura Wills Photography that the team would be professional, prepared, and a joy to work with. On the day of the wedding, Laura worked with weather complications and timeline adjustments, all while making us feel at ease. Our photos came back quickly and were better than I ever expected. We laughed and cried and relived the whole day. They will be forever cherished. There aren’t many things about planning a wedding that I’ll miss, but working with Laura is on the short list. When you think about your wedding day (or any special moment), it’s really important to consider who you want to be surrounded by, and your photographer is by your side the whole day. She helped us come up with the perfect timeline, connect with vendors, etc. She communicated frequently with us leading up to the wedding day & was so so easy to get ahold of when I had questions. My husband and I are both not very comfortable behind the camera, but I cannot even begin to describe how truly wonderful of an experience we had taking photos on our wedding day. Laura made us both feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. We were able to be very in the moment and often forgot that we were being photographed!! The photos we got back captured our day beautifully and included such a variety of photos. They were all amazing and we are so so so happy! We get to relive our wedding day for the rest of our lives! Laura is by far one of the most genuine, kind, and truly talented people we have ever met. My husband & I could tell that she cared so much about us and our day!! Her pictures were beautiful, not overly posed, and not over edited or washed out. We could genuinely feel the emotions of the people in the photographs just by looking at them. We didn’t even bother with picking a second choice because we knew we had to have her photograph our wedding. Lucky for us, we reached out to her and she had availability for our date. This is also when we realized that not only are her photos beautiful, but Laura herself is a beautiful person inside and out. She exudes joy and excitement and it’s completely obvious how much she loves her job and cares for her clients. After booking she sent us a package in the mail that had some vow books, candy, and a ring cleaning pen that I still use all the time. It was incredibly thoughtful- which is another word to describe Laura as a person. We had conflicting schedules for trying to pick a day for engagement photos (I’m a full time student and we don’t live in DSM currently) and she made it work nonetheless so we could have them back in time to send out save the dates. She also helped us to create a schedule and timeline for our wedding day which helped so much with planning the rest. Since she has worked with a lot of other vendors in the DSM area, she gave us her honest opinions on other vendors, specifically catering and makeup artists. I really feel like she did so much to make sure it was a special day apart from just taking the pictures. She was also so responsive and communicative- in addition to email, in the months leading up to the wedding and wedding week we were on a texting basis. The day of she was SUCH a hype queen and navigated 4 little cranky girls and a complicated family situation for family portraits with ease and humor. Our wedding party and family loved her equally. Although reading her other reviews I am sure that she treats all her couples this way - she made us feel like her #1 priority and her #1 favorite couple and it just added so much to our day. I have friends who have felt very luke warm about their photographers and I’ve heard horror stories of people not getting their photos for months and months but I had not even slightly one concern with Laura. She feels like a friend now and someone I want to keep in my life forever for all of my big events to come. Lastly, her pictures not only met but blew every expectation we had out of the water. I was speechless looking at them and felt immediately back in that moment. I also typically don’t like pictures of myself and so I was nervous to see them but I felt so beautiful in these. I can’t thank her enough for what she has done for us. I would be remiss to not mention her speed too - we had 75 previews back 6 days after our wedding and the full gallery of over 1000 pictures exactly one month after. You can’t ask for more than that. If you have made it this far in this review I think it’s obvious that you have to book her, trust me she is worth every penny and more.

She was an absolute pro. Getting back our preview and then full gallery from Laura (ahead of the short turnaround time she had committed) brought us right back to the day - we were blown away. They are photos we will cherish forever. ather didn't support our initial plans for outdoor photos, Laura was a calm and reassuring and had alternative recommendations and a plan that immediately reduced the stress. She scouted the venue and had excellent ideas and plans for our portraits, wedding party, and family photos that captured our beautiful venue. Laura brought the best energy to our day that made everyone feel at ease and allowed us to have fun - this helped us feel comfortable and her photos captured pure joy. Knowing that Laura was keeping us on schedule allowed us to enjoy ourselves and not worry about where we needed to be - we were relaxed and enjoyed spending the day with our friends and family. I cry every time I look over our photos because they are so special and so perfectly capture “us”. If you are nervous in front of the camera, they tell you exactly what to do and how to pose to get those sweet “candid” shots along side the posed professional ones.
