You want to choose a wedding photographer who you can connect with and trust. I was a bride not too long ago and I remember exactly how overwhelming it can feel to plan a day that only happens once! After over half a decade of shooting events, portraits, and weddings, I have all of the insider tools and tips to make your wedding day as beautiful as you dream.
PHOTOGRAPHER TIP: As you browse for your perfect photographer, make sure to choose one who values quality over quantity, values you individually and as a couple, and holds highly the task of capturing your wedding day vision and all of the moments in between.
When it comes to wedding photography, I firmly believe these three things:
- A photographer tasked with capturing life's most significant and intimate moments should be first, and foremost, honest, trustworthy, and integrous.
- Everyone deserves beautiful and authentic imagery that stands the test of time.
- Investing in a high quality experience should feel luxurious and minimally transactional.
My couples tell me that I consistently make them feel comfortable and at ease while providing high quality imagery they can fondly look back on. When you hire me you are guaranteed to expect:
1. To feel taken care of during our process together
2. To feel comfortable in front of the camera
3. Gorgeous photos to be passed down through generations

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BOOK LAUREN DIECKHAUS (NÉE THOMPSON) FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY OR ANY OTHER SERVICE!!! SHE GHOSTED US ON OUR WEDDING DAY. SHE CANNOT BE TRUSTED. We booked Lau...
ren for our wedding photography more than a year before our wedding. As a part of her wedding package, a complimentary engagement shoot was included. In the contract we signed, this complementary engagement shoot was listed as $0.00. We did the shoot, and got our photos back in a reasonable amount of time. We loved the photos and couldn't wait for the wedding.
Six weeks before our wedding, our wedding planner reached out to Lauren to begin to discuss the wedding day timeline and planning for the day. She didn't hear back from Lauren so she tried emailing again and again and calling multiple times and leaving voicemails. Still no response. Roughly two weeks out from the wedding, our planner asks us if we have heard anything from Lauren. We try texting and calling and emailing Lauren and get nothing back. Radio silence. LAUREN GHOSTED US BEFORE OUR WEDDING!!!!
With less than two weeks before our wedding we had to find and hire a completely new photographer whose work we had never seen and hope and pray she actually showed up on our wedding day. Not only this, but we had already paid Lauren 80% of our total contract amount, amounting to over $5,000. So we were already out that much money and had to hire another photographer on top of that, all while paying for our other wedding expenses.
The first time we heard a peep from Lauren was a few weeks after our wedding, after she received a message from our lawyer demanding she give us back the money we had already given her. Lauren claimed that she had health issues and that's why she ghosted us. However, if she really was so unwell that she couldn't send us a single text telling us what was going on, it is funny that she was somehow miraculously healed and well enough to email us once lawyers got involved. Not only this, but Lauren had the AUDACITY to ask if she could keep $1,000 from the money we had already paid her and not return it since she had done the COMPLIMENTARY $0.00 engagement shoot and "held our date" so she couldn't book additional clients on our wedding date.
This woman not only ghosted us before our wedding, made the weeks leading up to our wedding absolute hell, and added even more anxiety to an already stressful day by making us worry if our new photographer that we booked two weeks before our wedding would actually show up, but she also had the gall to request we pay her for a complimentary engagement shoot and pay her money for "holding" a wedding date she obviously had no intention of showing up to. To ruin a couple's wedding day like that is absolutely despicable and speaks to her true character. This wasn't some random party. This was our wedding, our once in a lifetime day, and she ruined it. Do not book her for any job or shoot, especially a wedding - SHE CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!! She does not honor her commitments and she tries to cheat people out of their hard-earned money.
What we loved most about Lauren was her remarkable ability to not only capture images but to encapsulate emotions. Every photograph felt like a chapter in our love story, beautiful...
ly told through her lens. Lauren's genuine and calming presence made every moment she captured feel natural and unforced. She wasn't just a photographer; she became an integral part of our day, seamlessly blending in while ensuring that every nuance, every smile, and every tear was preserved with an artist's touch. Her dedication to understanding our vision and her passion for creating something truly unique set her apart. The end result was a collection of memories that exceeded our expectations – a visual narrative of our love, expertly crafted by a true artist. Choosing Lauren was not just choosing a photographer; it was selecting someone to artistically narrate one of the most significant chapters of our lives.
We hired Lauren at the beginning of 2021 for our Oct 2022 wedding. Throughout this whole process she has been more than helpful. I 100% recommend her to anyone that is planning a ...
wedding. I just love how personable she is and not a cookie cutter photographer. She is willing to go the extra mile for you and your photos. At our wedding, orange juice was spilt all over my dress and she was researching how to get that out as soon as it happened. Luckily it came out. I am so glad we hired Lauren as our wedding photographer because she made this whole experience fun and exciting. Her photos are clean, timeless and romantic. I can’t recommend her enough and I would do it again.
Lauren really goes above and beyond! Whether it was scoping out off-site locations for our first look, or getting on the ground to scrub sand out of my wedding dress, she really to...
ok care of us. Her photos are fresh, romantic, and timeless. Several of my guests commented that Lauren was the most subtle wedding photographer they'd seen, never getting in the way of the events. I'm so thrilled we hired her, and would do it again!
My husband and I worked with Lauren for Cherry blossom portraits this spring and then at our wedding a few months ago. Lauren is not only an outstanding photographer but is also a ...
truly warm and generous person- the kind of person you want with you on your wedding day.
For our engagement photos, Lauren spent a full morning with us so that we could get in sunrise Cherry blossom shots and photos inside the National Gallery of Art (a favorite DC spot of ours). She dedicated far more time and effort on this than just a hourlong portrait session, which had been my baseline expectation for an engagement shoot.
We appreciated Lauren’s thorough questionnaire and series of check-in calls in the weeks leading up to the wedding, which helped us understand our own photo priorities a bit better and made us feel like we were in very good hands leading up to the day.
Lauren was a joy to have with us on the wedding day. She kept us on time while at the same time making sure we were at ease and not rushed. She captured a perfect mix of candid shots of the party, our guests, little details we could have otherwise missed, and of course the stunning family, wedding party, and couples shots. She did a fantastic job of making sure all corners of our gorgeous venue were utilized and captured, and the way she framed the more posed shots is stunning.
We are so thrilled to have found Lauren, and can’t wait to work with her again for future milestones!
Lauren did a wonderful job on our engagement photos, welcome party, and wedding! We very much enjoyed working with her. She was responsive and incorporated all our requests. We are...
grateful to her for capturing such quality images that we will cherish forever.
It’s almost impossible to capture in words what Lauren did for us on our wedding day but she truly captured magic. If I could give her more than 5 stars i would. Every special mome...
nt, all the little things, from the small but significant details, to my grandfather‘s conversations with my grandmother, to every reaction to the special moments— every little moment is captured forever in it’s most honest and true form and the results are unreal. Truly the best gift I could ever imagine. Hiring Lauren was the single best decision I made in my wedding planning process. The value, the artistic talent , and the service for your cost of doing business with her are unparalleled, I would pay 10x over for the work that she did for us. Her eye, her vision, and just her general demeanor were incredible— we absolutely LOVED working with Lauren and the compliments on our photos have been overwhelming. I can’t wait for Lauren to capture my families memories forever!
From meeting her the first time, James and I knew that Lauren was a great fit for us. From start to finish, her communication was timely and informative. We did not have to worry a...
bout anything.
During our engagement shoot, Lauren was very professional and efficient. She made us feel comfortable and at ease (trust me, I am the most awkward on camera) especially because it was 39 degrees at 7am in DC! Fast forward to our wedding day- not only was she on time, she was quick and professional! Again, Lauren made everyone feel extremely comfortable and natural.
ALL the photos were exactly what we wanted.... AND MORE! She definitely exceeded our expectations and we are so, so, SO thankful that our wedding planner found her! She's a gem- she's genuine, she's professional and definitely talented. Happy to see her growth in the past year, she definitely deserves it!
If I could give Lauren more than 5 stars, I would! My husband and I chose May 1st as our wedding date, but as corona virus came and the stay-at-home orders were put into place, we ...
were contemplating postponing our wedding. Our original photographer had canceled on us a month before our wedding, and we were struggling to find someone who was talented and available. By the grace of God, we were referred to Lauren we were able to book her less than a month before our wedding!
A couple weeks before my wedding day, Lauren stopped by to drop off a box for us. Inside of it was her own bridal magazine with helpful information, a sweet letter congratulating us, and a custom watercolor she had made for us, with a frame. It was such a kind gesture for her to drop this box of goodies for us, considering that she lives about 45 minutes from us. While she was in my neighborhood, she went exploring around to find somewhere with good lighting for where we could have the ceremony. Because she is an expert, she quickly found a beautiful field with nice trees as a backdrop. Thanks to her, we were able to have a gorgeous ceremony with great pictures.
While my elopement package was only about 3 hours total, Lauren took over 700 pictures during that time! She was so detail oriented and made all my homemade decorations look fancy. She delivered the entire package of edited photos exactly 1 week after we got married. Once we received them, it was so hard to chose our favorites. Lauren is SO talented, and is worth every penny. I could not have been more pleased with her as a person and her outstanding work. She made my day memorable and I am so happy to show my future kids our beautiful wedding pictures, all thanks to Lauren. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU LAUREN! I don’t even know where to begin when describing how amazing and great Lauren and her services are. From start to finish, Lauren was sweet, informative, flexible ...
and professional. Her packages are very straight forward, and her amazing photos speak for themselves. I felt like I had known her for years when we met up for our included engagement shoot, which made wedding day even better because I felt like another friend was there. She made my husband and I feel like models, and her turnaround time is insanely fast! I’ve lost count of the compliments I have received on the quality of her photos, and I would HIGHLY recommend her as the photographer for your wedding, engagement/baby announcement, or literally anything you need a photographer for!
Lauren did a great job at our wedding! She was easy to work with and gave us tons of great pictures. We loved working with her and would definitely recommend!
I hired Lauren to photograph my daughter's bridal shower that I hosted in Northern Virginia. I found Lauren on Instagram and immediately knew that I loved her style. Lucky for me...
, she was available, and once we connected on the phone, I felt even more confident about hiring her. Not only is she a talented photographer but also pleasant and polite, the kind of person you want around on your wedding day or other special events. She photographed all the details of the day and took pictures of all the guests during the cocktail hour. My daughters and I were able to relax and enjoy the day while Lauren took what turned out the be the most beautiful photos. I would hire Lauren again and can highly recommend her to others.
Lauren is amazing! She is super fun to work with and helps you relax for the camera. She also really knows what she is doing and takes awesome pictures. The photos turned out so go...
