The things I liked about Lauren I really, truly loved. She captured some wonderful shots from our wedding. She was great about communicating and responding to texts when I had questions and was quick to reassure me on some of my concerns. She e...dited all the photos very quickly and by the end of our honeymoon, we had the final files.
However, I was fairly disappointed with the collections (engagement and wedding) as a whole when I got the final images. Lauren has a great eye for capturing beautiful light and landscape. But her attention to detail is lacking. I did bridals with a different photographer who was quick to adjust a twisted necklace or weird head angle or awkward hands and Lauren doesn't do that. I had a hair tie on my wrist for half of our engagement shoot and she didn't notice. Our wedding photos came back and most of the portrait shots I received weren't flattering. My dress was bunched weird or hands were in weird spots. I had blemishes on my cheek and chin that could be retouched in post, and because of her (beautiful) editing style, they are accentuated in all the photos. Lauren has only a few poses that she does. And for a plus-size bride, I don't feel like they are very flattering for my body type at all. We aren't models, so relied so heavily on her to put us in the right positions and I just think the mark was missed.
We paid for a second shooter, and with the exception of maybe a handful of shots, I don't know what that money was used towards. We didn't receive many photos from him. (The ones we got were good, just too few.)
Lauren talked me out of getting more photos when we were signing the contract. She guaranteed 150 and we received just over 200, and it wasn't enough. Especially when there were so many that I won't use. We didn't feel like there were enough of the guests. And even though we had a shot list, it was up to us to make it happen--and with the blur of the day, it just didn't. We had an accidental "line" form when we were asked to return to the top of the aisle to take photos--we had to fight against the crowd who were headed to where our reception was being held--while we were hugging and greeting everyone who came, Lauren and her second were just waiting at the top of the aisle for us! I feel like so many good shots could've come from that, and they were just standing there and didn't take the opportunity. It makes me want to cry when I think about it. Once the line was over, we were so far behind schedule, that we opted to move into doing couple photos and I didn't realize then that it meant we weren't going to get our shots. We don't have any pictures of my husband's friends or family outside of the few we took prior to the ceremony. And we only have a few from my side because my friends were pulling me into photos.
Files are delivered via dropbox. Instead of doing a link, she shares the folder with you--so if you don't have extra space in Dropbox, you can't open the files.
Overall, did we get some lovely shots? Absolutely. Lauren is talented and her editing is unique, especially here in Utah, but there are a million things that I wish had gone differently. I think someone who knows how to be in front of the camera and knows exactly what they want will get wonderful photos from Lauren.
