After a decade of being a wedding photographer and working with so many wonderful couples, I'm honored that I get to do this for a living every day. After getting a journalism degree from MSU, I worked in newspapers for nearly 8 years. Using my journalism background and creating storytelling images is extremely important to me in my wedding work.
My husband, son and dog reside in the Lansing area, where I love to spend time in my garden or baking sourdough bread when I'm not taking photos or editing.

When deciding what type of photography we wanted for our engagement and wedding, my husband and I were pretty clueless. All I said was that I wanted our pictures to just reflect our love and look like us. Enter Lauren, from Lauren Wood Photography, and all of the dreams we didn't know we had came true. Lauren is a true master at what she does, she makes you feel and look the most beautiful you've ever looked, while still capturing who you are and how you're feeling perfectly. Her pictures are timeless and gorgeously stunning! She really guided us throughout our engagement photoshoot and our wedding day and helped my husband and I not feel like awkward ducks doing poses that felt unnatural or not like ourselves. I couldn't tell you exactly how she does it except that to say she just made us feel so comfortable the entire time and gave us the space to be silly, and just enjoy ourselves. We couldn't recommend Lauren highly enough and I absolutely know we will be working with her for more family milestones in the future!

We absolutely loved working with Lauren! She is a great wedding photographer and a wonderful person! She was very responsive, helpful, creative and professional. The day of she was so calm and fun to be around and navigated the weather and all our guests beautifully. We are so glad we booked her to capture our special day and would highly recommend her! Lauren was amazinggggg our entire wedding day! She made everything go so smoothly and made my nerves go away! We are awkward in pictures, and she made everything seem so seamless. She was so organized and knew exactly what to do and told people where to go. We got our pictures back and they are better than I could ever have imagined!

Honestly I cannot express enough how incredibly amazing Lauren is! She did our engagement and wedding photos. We are beyond pleased with not only how all of the photos turned out, but how wonderful Lauren was to work with! The entire process was seem less and meeting with her to go over plans beforehand helped make us feel even more comfortable working wither her. She has an amazing personality, is very professional, yet fun to keep things light and get those good candid photos! She went out of her way to help make things happen and really took everything we said into consideration. She was incredibly amazing at making sure we stayed on schedule even with multiple timing issues and delays outside of our control and got us back to the event by the time we wanted. To be honest, as a same-sex couple, we were a bit nervous about finding a photographer that would know how to pose us. Lauren had great suggestions and made sure we looked natural. Our photos turned out spectacular! We would recommend her a million times over!!

Lauren was so great to work with! Our pictures turned out amazing for our Engagement Session and Wedding! She was so helpful with our timeline and working with other vendors. If you want timeless photos from a team that will make you, your bridal party, and family/guests feel comfortable in front of the camera, look no further! Lauren and her team are incredible. Not only are they skilled at their craft (our photos are even better than we could have wished for), but Lauren was a great communicator and went above and beyond (e.g., helping make sure our day-of timeline was thoughtful/realistic). My husband is a very awkward person in front of the camera, and Lauren's calming presence, prompts, and coaching worked wonders to make him feel at ease so that he looks natural in our photos. Lauren FAR exceeded our expectations for our engagement and wedding photos. She took the most stunning pictures that captured every aspect of our big day, down to the fine details. Not only did she deliver many (many!) stunning pictures in a timely manner, her prices are affordable, she was always easy to reach, and communicated with us regularly. I don’t think that I could say enough to describe how great our experience with Lauren was. She made our engagement session easy and fun and it was a great opportunity to get to know her.
On the day she helped everything flow so easily! She captured so many smiles and laughter. Our photos all turned out perfectly the way we wanted and expected them to. We also had a much quicker turnaround time than many couples we know.
We are beyond impressed and would absolutely hire Lauren all over again if we could!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Lauren as our wedding photographer. She was so responsive, sweet, personable, and organized. She worked with us to switch our wedding date after covid derailed our original plans. She helped guide me through the whole planning process and made us feel so comfortable on our wedding day, all while capturing all the big and little moments of the day. We didn’t have a videographer but I feel like we can relive the entire day through her photos. Her second photographer, Bri, was also fantastic. She delivered over 1100 stunning photos just 8 weeks after our event. I still haven’t been able to pick out my favorites to be printed. Don’t hesitate to book Lauren Wood Photography for the most important day of your life!

Booking Lauren was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process! She was very organized and prompt in her communication with us, answered any and all questions we had, and kept us informed all along the way. She is very personable and got to know us as a couple; she always made us feel at ease, especially when taking photos by giving helpful instructions on posing. We were totally confident in her abilities and leadership throughout the big day which took the stress off of us and allowed us to enjoy every minute! And on top of that, her photos are absolutely gorgeous! Her editorial background gives her an eye for detail that helps capture the day beyond all of the "posed" looks. I love her rich use of color, and her black and white editing is some of the best I've seen in my opinion! Photography was one of my top priorities, and she met all of my expectations and more! I can't recommend Lauren enough; you will be so happy you booked her!

Lauren did a phenomenal job shooting our wedding pictures! She made the whole experience so much fun and captured some of the funniest, sweetest, and most memorable moments of the day. We got our pictures back 2 months after the wedding... in my opinion, that is very timely when it comes to editing and delivering over 1000 photos! When looking at the pictures she delivered, I can honestly relive the whole day. Thanks to these beautiful pictures, we can relive our wedding for the rest of our lives! Lauren and her second shooter Clair shot our Wedding in Kalamazoo, MI and they did an amazing job! Lauren is very detail oriented, organized, and an all-around amazing photographer and human. We absolutely loved working with her. Every single shot Lauren took was beautiful and we loved receiving the hundreds of meticulously edited photos with a short turn around time.
