Since we are a group of freelance artists and not a salon we do have a receptionist to answer phone calls and emails every day. I personally answer every one around my working schedule and days off. There are some days that my schedule simply does not allow me to sit down a respond to emails and phone calls. We also do not work a normal 9-5 during the week. Our days off are typically during the week. We have some very early and very late appointments as well which also does not always allow me to respond daily. But I always try to respond as soon as my schedule allows! Again, I apologize if my communication was not as immediate as needed while planning your wedding. the only communication I had was with your mother and not yourself. The only interaction I had with you was during your actual trial. When you arrived for your trial we started with your consultation. During which we go over your skin care. You stated that you did not use any moisturizer due to your oily skin and that you had Proactiv to help control your acne but had not been using it as you should be. I advised to start using your skin care products regularly and to start using an oil free moisturizer. I explained that your skin will produce more oil from the lack of moisture and that oil can cause the makeup to break down. Throughout the emails with your mother AFTER the trial she stated at the makeup break down was a concern. As after you left the makeup did break down as I had stated could happen at the beginning of your trial. Oxidation of makeup will cause the makeup to change color and it can become blotchy. I cannot change any skin condition with makeup. I can only use the best products for your skin type. I explained many times again throughout the emails that a proper skin care routine will help to keep the oil under control and prevent the makeup from breaking down. The only response I received from your mother in reference to your skin care was that your skin was oily from genetics and not from lack of proper care. Nothing was mentioned if you had changed your skin care routine. The second part of your consultation included what your makeup expectations were. We always ask all our clients to bring along any photos for reference. You arrived with no photos and said that you did not wear a lot of makeup and wanted it to be natural. I applied the airbrush foundation to cover up your acne. You stated that it was more than you usually wear. I explained that if you wanted to acne covered this is how the airbrush coverage would be. Nothing was said during the trial that you did not want your acne covered. I received an email from your mother AFTER your trial stating that you did not want it covered. She then attached a photo of what you wanted your makeup to look like. My response was that if you did not want the acne covered that we could apply a light coat of airbrush. I also included that if you wanted a “no makeup look” that we could do that. During your trial I also filled in your brows a bit to show you what the proper shape of your eyebrow should be. I explained this before I filled them in. I also explained that eyebrows are a major focus of the face and even a slight adjustment can seem weird when you are not used to it. I advised to wear it around some and see how you like them. If you did not like them we would simply not fill them in. After the trial I received no email regarding your eyebrows. We do not apply makeup based on trends but based on what is right for each individual client. While emailing with your mother I also suggested that you come back for a second trial. I received no response regarding that. I did work with both yourself and your mother with what you wanted. As we do with all of our clients. I feel that a professional makeup application was not what you were actually looking for.

Our booking policy is in place since each artist blocks out their schedule and turns away other business once we book an event. There were 4 people servicing you and your bridal party; a hairstylist, a makeup artist, a hair assistant and a makeup assistant. So your booking fee was based on 4 people being booked. I was under the impression that we had resolved this issue from your last email stating, "I did not realize you were giving me my hair package for $100...Thank you!" As we had discussed previously we did offer you and your bridal party our usual discounts as well as extend those discounts even further. We also did services that were special requests that we do not even offer. The total discount received was $387.40. I was also under the impression that you had liked your wedding makeup. At no time during the trial run or on the day of your wedding did you say you were not happy with the makeup application. I would have been happy to try a different look or change anything you were not pleased with. That is the purpose of our trial run, as we want you to be happy with the finished look, especially on a day as important as your wedding. The day of the wedding before we began I asked if there was anything you wanted to change also. The day of the wedding we arrived understanding that the booking fee issue had been resolved per the last email. We did not arrive with any negative thoughts about you or your bridal party. While my team and I were there everyone was talking and laughing the whole time. We also had a member of the bridal party contact us after to book her own hair and makeup services. It is not in our nature to be rude to any of our clients. I personally answer every single phone call, email, Facebook message and text we receive while also being a working makeup artist and a mother. Depending on my work schedule I am not always able to respond the same day. However, I try my best to do so and usually respond within a day or two. Looking over most of our emails, most of them were answered the very same day or within a day or so. Our website, voice mail and email signature states that we will respond as soon as possible and to please call if you need a more immediate response. Our voice mail asks to allow 24 to 48 hours for us to return a call. I always try to respond as soon as my schedule allows. Again, we offer our sincere apologies for any misunderstanding and feel that we were very flexible with any special requests we received and with offering extended discounts.
