I remember contacting you prior to the wedding I believe about two or three weeks via phone to tell you that I was in a dangerous stage in my pregnancy and there was a good chance I would be in the hospital during your wedding giving birth (a month earlier than anticipated) And that you had some options , one being canceling the three tier cake with us and doing a single tier and adding more desserts or we could do a dummy cake but sheet cakes in the back and keep the dessert table as well. We wanted these options because my assistant Baker was not fully comfortable with the size and style of the wedding cake you chose. So the days before I went into the hospital to be induced I made a dummy version of the exact cake that you ordered. On the day of the wedding that dummy cake along with a dessert table and cake stands and three cakes that were the exact flavors of the original cake you ordered to be served out of the kitchen were all delivered. So there was enough cake to feed all your guests plus the dessert table plus a cake that looked exactly like the cake that you had ordered. I was in fact in recovery from an emergency C-section with my three day old son the day that your wedding took place . My assistant delivered everything sent me the photos and said that all went well. The next day she told me that you returned the stands and we’re very upset because of the hidden cakes and no one could find the cakes when it came time to cut the cake. I don’t know what happened in the kitchen but our staff delivered those cakes to the catering stuff so the catering stuff was in control and knew where those cakes were when it came time for them to cut them. That was the last that I heard of the situation as again I was in the hospital in recovery and wasn’t in the right mindset to deal with an upset bride . You did email to complain one more time and my staff apologized for the misunderstanding but told you that we had communicated about this possibility and we fulfilled our contract and that we did not see it necessary to offer you a refund which is what you wanted. I do understand your frustration if perhaps you did not fully expect the dummy for some reason, but to say that people are “taking a risk” by using us when we delivered something 99% what you ordered while I was in hospital Is a bit of an overreach don’t you think?
