Words cannot express how grateful we are to The Astorian and Le Tesserae for making our wedding day an absolute fairy tale! From the moment we began planning, Addie and the entire ...The Astorian/Le Tesserae team were dedicated to ensuring everything went perfectly. What truly made this team special was their flexibility and support when Houston was hit by Hurricane Barryl and there was a city-wide power outage the Monday before our wedding day.
We learned on the Wednesday before our wedding that the church where we supposed to have our ceremony was still without power, and CenterPoint energy was not scheduled to work on their street until the following week. We also learned that day, that The Astorian had some flooding in the elevator shaft. The technicians informed The Astorian that they were not going to be able to get the parts in time to fix it before Saturday, and with a 420-person guest count, a 10-person band, and florals, a working elevator was necessary to get everything and everyone up to the 3rd floor smoothly.
Addie called their brand-new sister venue; Le Tesserae and they had an opening for that Saturday! When my husband and I toured the Thursday before the wedding, we were taken aback with how beautiful Le Tesserae was. The hand-laid mosaic floors, chandeliers, the balcony with the view of downtown of Houston absolutely took our breath away and we could not believe this was our “back-up plan.” We felt so lucky to have this incredible option, and the venue was so new that they were still under a bit of construction, but their team worked tirelessly for the next 72 hours to have all the construction finished before our wedding day on Saturday.
Other highlights:
- The staff’s responsiveness and professionalism made the entire planning process seamless from day one.
- Jackson & Company catering was the best wedding food I have ever had, and many other guests agreed and raved about how delicious it was
- The bartenders were fantastic, and served generously poured cocktails which of course made the night that much more fun
- The ambiance at both The Astorian and Le Tesserae was stunning.
The Astorian will make a 420 guest count work, but my recommendation as well as my planner’s recommendation is that if you are having a seated dinner, stay in between 250-300 max person guest count if you are going to have a dance floor, band, and any extra signage to allow for everything to flow smoothly. I was actually pretty nervous about this if we were going to have our reception at The Astorian, so with the surprise venue change to Le Tesserae we also switched to a buffet/cocktail style reception, which flowed smoothly and worked perfectly.
We are incredibly grateful to the entire team for turning what could have been a stressful situation into something even more magical than we could have ever imagined. Thank you so much, to The Astorian and Le Tesserae team, for making our wedding day extraordinary!
