Leah was the most pleasant and communicative vendor we worked with throughout our entire wedding. From the moment we had our first phone call to meeting her in person she truly felt like a life long friend not just someone we worked with during our wedding. You can tell she puts her all into her work and It shows. We’ve gotten so many compliments on every single photo we’ve gotten back from her. I can’t thank Leah enough on how much fun she made taking photos feel. She truly deserves a million stars!!!

I am going to force myself to keep this brief, because otherwise I could write a whole dissertation on why Leah is the most amazing wedding photographer! From our very first phone call with Leah, my husband and I knew we wanted to have her with us on our big day! We had some definite nerves about being in front of the camera, but Leah put us at ease when she explained her philosophy of incorporating movement into photographs to help people loosen up and express their true selves in a more comfortable, less posed way. It was clear from speaking to her that she put a lot of thought and intention into making the experience as comfortable, and as natural as possible. Her work really speaks for itself, and especially as 2 people who are pretty camera shy, I was amazed at how she was able to truly capture the love that we share for each other in a way that felt so genuine and authentic! We had such a wonderful time with her during our engagement shoot that I even commented to my (now) husband that the only thing I regretted about hiring her as our wedding photographer was that she couldn’t attend as a guest at our wedding! When we started to share our wedding pictures with family and friends, we all agreed that Leah’s photographs truly allowed us to relive the whole experience all over again - and really, what more could you want from someone who is capturing one of the absolute happiest moments of your life!

I had the absolute BEST time working with Leah. After working with Leah, I got the best photos of my wedding, my engagement, and my boudoir photos, but I also feel like I finished my wedding day with another great friend. I’ve known Leah since my sophomore year of college at JMU. She was always a great friend and when my husband and I got engaged right around when Leah was moving to Richmond I knew right away that she was the only one I trusted to capture our engagement and wedding photos. Leah was AMAZING for our engagement photo session! We are both healthcare students with weird schedules but Leah went above and beyond to make it happen for us - even pivoting the plan as it began raining when we were all on our way to the agreed upon outdoor location! We were able to do some indoor shots and some rain shots that day and revisited the original spot on a nicer day. The experience and the photos are amazing. There isn't room enough for me to say all the amazing things I want to about Leah. As an LGBTQ couple, we were immediately at ease working with her, and she had countless ideas and prompts for us during our engagement session that worked for us as two women. This extended into a lot of our planning: how would we do our first look, who would walk down the aisle first, how could we both get bridal portraits done? We fell in love with her photography style, but we were blown away by her intrinsic artistry. So many times she'd tell us "Okay, this is a little out there, but what if we tried..." and we'd end up with the most beautiful shot imaginable. I was initially really nervous to do an engagement session but it was a blast! We enjoyed it so much and because we had a long engagement (2+ years) , we did a second couples session with her about 6 months before the wedding. On wedding day, she and Susan were both so collected and professional it made the whole day run more smoothly, and she effortlessly rolled with the punches when we wanted to stay on the dance floor a little longer or search for fireflies during our sunset photos. Each time we've done a session with her, she has returned absolutely gorgeous photos, and gone above and beyond every step of the way. Some of our guests are still talking about how sweet and wonderful she is months after the wedding! Having a good relationship with any vendor is important, but Leah truly feels like a friend and connects with her couples on such a personal level. We can't recommend her enough!

Working with Leah was one of the best wedding decisions we made! We booked her about 18 months in advance of our wedding. She is responsive, passionate, and energetic, which made the planning process run SO smoothly and the wedding day extremely fun. She is super thoughtful and captured all of our special moments with ease. Leah was the first vendor I booked for our wedding & it was the BEST decision I made. We connected instantly - from the moment we talked on the phone for our consultation to the day we met in NYC for the wedding. Leah is a dream photographer. She got photos of us at the first look, ceremony, reception, & after party that my family & friends were like “whaaat?! How did she get that photo?” Like when my mom handed me my vow book. So candid and so unique. She captured seconds throughout that day that will forever be our life-long memories - all because we chose her as our photographer. Leah is an honest, imaginative & creative artist and someone who I would hire again and again to take our photos. Leah was awesome and I'm not just saying that! My husband is not a fan of taking pictures but Leah made it easy! Leah was always on time and always made us feel comfortable! Honestly Leah became more like our friend than our photographer, and that's how it should be especially having someone as a photographer and capturing our most precious moments. So that's just her personality, her photos are bomb! I found her on Instagram and instantly fell in love with the way she takes photos. The photos all very candid and real. It doesn't look staged or fake, you can see the actual couples. I 100% not only love her photos but love her!

Leah has been such a joy to work with! My fiancé and I had never had professional photos taken of us before, but Leah put all our worries to bed! She made us feel comfortable and like ourselves during our engagement shoot. Waking up early for a sunrise shoot was so worth it! We were thrilled to have Leah photograph our wedding, and are obsessed with the photos we now get to cherish forever. The end result was gorgeous - not overly edited but enough so that lighting is tailored to the photo and who is in it so as to bring out their best look. Leah certainly has her own style that is evident in her work, but is accommodating to requests from couples as well. She is very easy to work with and we are so grateful to her for capturing our wedding and other life moments so beautifully.

So we eloped, but had a little party of around 65 people for a party and wanted to commemorate the occasion. We chose Leah for her *artistic flair* and we’re not disappointed. She perfectly hit our vision- which was fun and artsy. She scouted the locations, handled our messy families, and just did an overall great job in an unusual situation. Cannot recommend her more!

Leah was so amazing through every step of our wedding planning process. She went above and beyond to make sure everything from our engagement session to our wedding planning went smoothly. We get constant compliments from our guests about how engaged Leah was and how she having fun with everyone out on the dance floor to get the best pictures possible! Where do we begin -- choosing Leah as our photographer was easily one of the best decisions we made during this entire process. Leah was so phenomenal to work with. From our very first contact, she made me feel so comfortable and so excited to work with her. We met in person the day of the wedding and it felt like she had been a friend for years. "Leah Meissler was PHENOMENAL! We hired her for our engagement photos and as our wedding photographer. Leah is a seasoned photographer. She coordinated with us on all the standard “Engagement” & “Wedding” BUT went above and beyond to take shots that we hadn’t even thought of. Some of my favorite photos are those random ones where we had no idea what she was doing. As a photographer she is down to earth and personable. Our engagement and wedding was planned through the COVID-19 pandemic and even though a year and a half had passed by between our shoots, our experience was as if no time had passed at all. She made us feel relaxed during each shoot so we weren’t stiff and self-conscious. We were impressed with how quickly she could provide us teaser photos of the event. That allowed us to quickly order “Thank You” cards with a photo from the wedding. I know this isn’t typical, but our wedding didn’t include a wedding party, however we had quickly realized that a wedding party is helpful in calming your nerves and last minute stress before the big moment, Leah as our dedicated photographer went above and beyond and was that shoulder and the rock we needed while getting ready for our big moment. My absolute favorite shot of the entire wedding is a candid shot she took while I thought we were taking a break to let an elderly man pass by the glass enclosed hallway. It is very important to hear reviews not only from other couples but most importantly from vendors!! We are with your photographer/videographer/florist..etc the entire day and sometimes we have to deal with certain challenges that aren’t in our control. It could be that their work is amazing but they’re not considerate to others around them especially as vendors. Now, if you’re looking for a photographer who does amazing work BUT also is incredible to work with and accepts the stress/challenges from a wedding day with such grace: LEAH IS YOUR GIRL We worked with Leah at a wedding yesterday! We were the videographers but never had the pleasure to work with her. As a vendor working the behind-the-scenes, Leah is professional and so kind. She puts her couples first and I saw this firsthand! You can’t control the events that may go wrong on your wedding day but Leah always tries to come up with a solution instead of adding more stress. Stop searching, you've found your photographer! Leah is without a doubt the best in the game. I don't know how she does it, but she managed to capture every moment of our wedding perfectly, even when it seems physically impossible. Every picture came out looking better than we could have hoped. She was so professional and helpful the whole time. She took time with every combination of family member/wedding party picture, while keeping us moving and giving perfect direction. Seriously, she was the best I don't know how else to say it. So like, we got all of our pics, they obviously look great, she captured everything, amazing. But then after the wedding she gave us our sample photos shockingly fast, and the samples were unreal good. We honestly would have been satisfied if that was our full album, but then, just a few weeks later, we got the whole album and it was unbelievable. Just 100000% better than what I could have hoped. Prompt, professional, fun, friendly, helpful, highest quality results, super fast timeline. There's no one else we would recommend. I want to have the wedding all over again just for her to take more pictures.

She sent us extra photos than what was on our contract. She sent us over 50 teaser photos from our wedding 1 week later. She provided all of our engagement and wedding photos on time. When Leah Miessler comes into your life it is not just for a day, or a moment in time, it is forever. My husband and I had the "COVID cursed" wedding and in the process of rescheduling (four) times, we needed to find a new photographer. In walks Leah, I stumbled upon a photo of her's on Instagram and just KNEW we had to have her for our wedding. From the initial phone call, to the Christmas photos she just took of my family, she has been an absolute dream to work with. Hire her, you will not regret it at all. We reached out to Leah for an October 2020 wedding, and had to postpone our wedding to July 2021. From the informative phone consultation, to the amazing engagement photo shoot, to the beautiful day of wedding photos, Leah's photography skills and amazingly fun and friendly personality made my super nervous, Type A bride self know that I was in great hands. She walked me through the process and kept in contact with me even though we had to postpone the wedding 9 months due to COVID. During the engagement and wedding shoots, Leah knew how to make my husband and me crazy comfortable and able to focus on the love and fun we feel with each other, which is a feat because we were all nerves and checklist-y the days leading up to the events. We felt like she really got to know us as a couple and provided some general guidance beforehand (like what to wear and what to avoid!) that made our pictures turn out even better. We used our engagement photos to create our guest book and wedding website and can't wait for her to capture the big day!

Leah was an absolute DREAM COME TRUE! I had been following Leah on instagram for MONTHS just dreaming of one day working with her. My now fiancé planned a surprise proposal at a lantern festival that included Leah camouflaging in a group of people pretending to just be another attendee. When my fiancé got down on one knee and asked me to do forever it was truly magic but what really made the night even more special was when I realized that Leah was there to capture the entire moment. My fiancé and I had never done a couples photoshoot before nor had we even been professionally photographed and Leah was a dream to work with! Leah is the most phenomenal photographer. When we initially reached out, she scheduled a phone call with us and we immediately knew we were in the right place. It is so clear how much passion and pure talent she has and I instantly felt connected to her. It was important for us to have our engagement and wedding photos to be snapshots of beautiful moments rather than traditional poses and that’s exactly what we got. My husband and I are not people who seek out the spotlight, by any means, but Leah made us both feel so comfortable and the shots she created are perfection. Leah was the COOLEST! After hiring her during covid, and sticking with us through a postponement, I finally met Leah on the wedding day and she is a blast! Leah understood what was important for us to have photographed, and she also went above and beyond providing new ideas (like my perfume bottle! Would have never thought of that). She was also so much fun during the hours of getting ready with the bridesmaids. Everyone enjoyed her presence with us. I also appreciate that Leah listened to ideas we had about photographs. She gave input to what would work and what would help make things better. She is such an amazing person to work with and I cannot recommend her enough. I can't wait to have her photograph us again!

Can’t express how easy getting our elopement shoot set up with Leah was. She answered all of our questions and more. She was the absolute best the day of the shoot. First things first, Leah is amazing. We hired her for our micro wedding in Shenandoah National Park in August, and would hire her again for any photography needs we ever have. Her "a la carte" micro wedding menu is amazing, and allows clients to specify exactly what they want for their day. She's also very responsive and happy to answer questions and help you build out your timeline to make sure you're getting what you want! We came down from NYC, so really appreciated Leah walking us through how long driving somewhere, etc. might take so we could account for it appropriately. Leah is professional and courteous, and is also fantastic at calming nerves and somehow being everywhere at once. One day after the wedding, Leah sent me some first look photos, and had half our gallery done soon after. Leah loves her job, and it shows in the photos she takes. We wanted effortless and candid photos of our day, and we got so many photos that we will cherish forever. I really can't recommend Leah enough - she's incredibly talented and just so much fun to hang out with!

Leah is a truly amazing photographer. She communicated with me every step of the way. Having a wedding during a pandemic comes with lots of challenges. But Leah was amazing through it all. Including when we had to change our venue. Leah got to know is and really captured our authentic relationship in our pictures. Leah made taking pictures fun and natural. When I look at our pictures I see how in love and happy we look. Leah helped create beautiful moments and we now get to have forever.

We had our elopement pictures done at the monuments in Washington DC, and they turned out amazing! Leah made our session so fun, she helped us pick a good time and with parking which was a huge help specially in a busy city! We decided to elope, so our session with Leah was our way of sharing our experience with our friends and family. I (the bride) am absolutely not photogenic at all and my husband is an absolute ham for the camera. I knew Leah from high school and within the last several years I knew she had gotten into photography. When my fiancé and I got engaged, Leah reached out to congratulate us but I didn’t think she’d be able to do the photography since we no longer lived in VA and the wedding would be in NC. What a great surprise when Leah said she travels and was more than willing to do our photography! We were only home for a week during Christmas and Leah was incredibly flexible with us and made time to get our engagement session done while we were home. Where do I start? I'm not your traditional bride. I didn't want the Pinterest photos where the bridal party was posed or shots of makeup palettes that I used for my look. I wanted someone who could capture my husband and I in the moment. I wanted someone to capture the love between us. I wanted photos to show our love and not look cold. I just happened to scroll IG and came upon Leah's page. BRIDES and GROOMS, look no further because Leah is the real deal. Looking through her portfolio you can just sense the love and happiness between couples. I reached out to her and got a response and she offered to call so we can both get an idea of expectations. I think we must have spent almost a hour on the phone just brainstorming and talking ideas-mind you we didn't officially hire her yet. After I hung up and spoke with my husband, we decided to book her immediately. Oh did I mention her pricing is also amazing?! The day of the shoot, she texted me 2 hours before our meet time and said she was already on site and scouting out locations to shoot. Leah listens and DELIVERS. I wish I could get married again so that we could have another session. I can't recommend her enough!

We had such a wonderful experience with Leah. Picking a wedding photographer is so tough these days -- there seems to be one million google results! Where to begin?? We began and ended with Leah, because her portfolio looked beautiful and her prices were reasonable, but it still felt like a gamble, you know? You don't know if you made the right choice until it's all done. Well, it turns out we absolutely made the right choice. Leah was a pleasure to work with. I didn't know exactly how to describe what I wanted other than to say, "I don't want a lot of posed shots," and she totally got it. The candid shots of our loved ones are pictures we will cherish forever. They are truly beautiful. Working with Leah on our wedding day was absolutely a dream. She was the most patient and kind photographer we could have worked with, and she dealt with every scheduling change. We corresponded with her for over five months prior to the shoot, because COVID changed so many things, and she had the best attitude and spirit. As a Black Lesbian couple, it meant the world to us to have a skilled photographer capture such a special day, and affirm and validate our relationship so clearly. Leah went above and beyond for us—she even paid for a parking ticket we got during the shoot. She’s an all around great person, and getting to have her as our photographer was really special. I can’t remember exactly how I stumbled upon Leah as a photographer, but I am SO glad that I did!!! I filled out the form on her website, and soon after my fiancé and I had a phone conversation with her to get to know each other a little bit better. My fiancé lives out of town and decided to visit last minute one weekend, but she was able to squeeze us in between the other shoots she had! We greatly appreciated how flexible she was with us, and how helpful she was with selecting a location. This is the first time we had professional pictures done, but Leah was so easy going and it seemed like we were just having a fun photoshoot with one of our friends. Let me begin by saying that Leah is the sweetest human being. She made our experience stress free and enjoyable. My husband and I are both shy infront of the camera, but she was able to guide us in EVERY single shot that was taken. We didn't have any expectations when it came to the ceremony photos, family shots, and couples shots, but Leah captured every emotion possible and we didn't even see her lurking with her camera! She even snapped the most beautiful photos of our wedding location! Leah was great when it came to guidance/support before and during our wedding day. She was very quick to answer texts/emails. It was supposed to rain on our wedding day and I messaged her the night before expressing my concern. Leah made me feel SO much better. She gave me all these great photo ideas we could do in the rain and reminded me that the most important thing is that my husband and I were getting married and that she would take care of making the photos look wonderful. She did exactly that! We received sneak peaks the day after our wedding and they were UNBELIEVABLE. They were everything we could have ever imagined and more and those were just the sneak peaks. When we received the full gallery, we were in disbelief. My husband and I were so emotional reliving our wedding day. I am continually impressed with Leah as an individual. We absolutely loved everything about having Leah take our engagement photos!
