Leahs Pralines first appeared in the New Orleans City Directory in 1933 under the name Cooks Confections. In 1944, Leah Johnson bought the business. While she originally kept the name Cooks, over the years the shop became known Leahs Pralines. In 1984, Elna Stokes, Leahs niece, bought the shop from her aunt. The store is still run by Elna and her family, making Leahs Pralines a 3 generation family business. Today Leahs family continues the tradition with the same recipes and standards of excellence started by their aunt all those years ago.

I wanted a wedding favor that was unique to New Orleans (not your ordinary Jordan Almonds or M&Ms), and that wasn't something cheap and plastic that would either collect dust in so...

meone's junk drawer or just be thrown away. That's how we got the idea to order pralines. Ordering from Leah's was simple and easy. Go to their website and it's easy to choose colors and the design of your custom label. Once you've decided what you want, you just have to call and leave them your credit info. And on the day of pick up, parking was a bit hard to find in the French Quarter. Just give them a call that you're on your way, and they'll even bring out your order to your car. The pralines were delicious and the custom made labels came out exactly how I wanted.

sband is from Louisiana so we wanted to ensure they were authentic...which they certainly were...and delicious! They were wrapped individually and sent very well so that none were ruined in shipment. They also offer custom stickers to apply to them if you'd like. The only note I'd give for those outside of the Louisiana area--if you want to have them shipped to you, they require over-night shipping to keep the product freshest. It was a great requirement to keep them fresh, but just note that while you're budgeting. Everyone I spoke to there was so nice and accommodating--even after a big storm hit their area and they were out of power for a while. I would recommend them in an instant.

wedding date, which went along with our wedding flowers (which included magnolias). They were a little pricey ($1.99 each) but everyone enjoyed them (and we have a bunch left that we froze and they are still good after having been frozen).
