We happened upon the Leavitt while driving through Ogunquit on vacation, and a little over a year later, we got married there. The moment we stepped foot into the venue, we knew it was something special.
Nell was phenomenal to work with. She was attentive, organized, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Not to mention, she's super cool, patient and an all-around great person. Chef Adam created an incredible menu that our guests are still raving about months later. The raw bar was a total hit, showcasing the best of Maine's fresh seafood.
The entire staff went above and beyond throughout the evening. Everyone was professional, warm, and clearly passionate about what they do. The historic theater setting provided such a unique and intimate backdrop for our celebration.
If you're looking for a wedding venue in Maine that combines charm, excellent food, and a staff that truly cares, The Leavitt Theatre is it. We couldn't have asked for a better place to start our marriage.

FULL DISCLOSURE- I am actually the Leavitt's Events Coordinator, however this season I simultaneously became a Leavitt Bride. I was genuinely excited to host my wedding at the theatre, but admittedly I also imagined it would give me some helpful insight for work- letting me know where points for improvement were in both the space and the process. What I found out was pleasantly affirming-- we truly had AN INCREDIBLE wedding at The Leavitt. Our ceremony was down the road on Ogunquit Beach, and we paraded up to the theatre like New Orleans met New England! Our guests were greeted with an oyster bar & bubbly and the night went off without a hitch from there. Live music was a big priority for us, and we had a 5-piece band set up on the main stage. After we had our first dance & speeches up there, the space transformed! With the help of professional sound & lighting technicians, our reception felt like a tried and true concert. People are still talking about the ambiance and vibe to this day. The vision for our wedding was to throw a giant party for the people in our lives who helped us get to where we are today. We wanted a space where people could eat, drink, dance & repeat all night. We did not want to get weighed down in other details that were less important to us. I think The Leavitt perfectly mirrored & supported our vision and priorities, and we now have a wedding we TRULY loved as a lifelong memory. Proud to be a part of The Leavitt's wedding program, and very grateful that it's my own family's story, too.

The Leavitt Theatre is a historic wedding venue in Ogunquit, Portland, ME. Initially constructed in 1925 as a silent film theater, it has been a beloved community space for parties, friendly gatherings, and other special events down the years. Nestled in downtown Ogunquit, just a brief stroll from the beach, The Leavitt has become a renowned wedding venue celebrated for its stellar cocktail offerings and delectable dinner menu.
The largest venue available at the Leavitt Theatre can accommodate up to 500 of your nearest and dearest in a seated capacity. With the aid of the talented events team, this fully customizable historic location can reflect you and your partner in color, decor, style, and vibe. For a smaller, more intimate reception, you can avail of the Mezzanine Lounge, which features mixed and casual seating and a mingling capacity of 120. Several smaller indoor and outdoor areas are also available, with varying capacities of no more than 40.
From rehearsal dinners to afterparties, Leavitt Theatre consistently provides an unparalleled ambiance and an unmistakable "X" factor that remains a topic of conversation forever among newlyweds and their guests. Hello! My name is Nell Henderson-Brown, and I am the Events Director at The Leavitt Theatre. I started my career in hospitality at 14 years old and nearly 20 years later I'm still completely in love with this world & its ability to bring people together over food, drink & joy so regularly. Most of my background is in restaurant service & management which honed my ability to think on my feet, plan ahead & problem solve under any circumstance. My favorite part of my job is talking through our client's events from start to finish, finding moments to make each celebration uniquely theirs.
