I want to start the review with positives. Paula is very nice, professional and offers GREAT products!! She works out of her home, which I was a little skeptical at first because ...
I wondered how many samples she would have on hand, but she has a TON of product to look through so you know exactly what you are getting! My final product was exactly what I wanted and beautiful, and for that I give her 5 out of 5 stars.
Going into the appointment you need to know she is a bit pricy. I felt like I probably could have gotten the same thing online for cheaper, but with her, she was able to make constructive suggestions, and I was aware of what I was getting.
Where I am docking stars is, on communication. This being said, I know I probably should have gone to her a bit sooner. I went July 15th and my wedding is October 14th, but she assured me that my invitations would be done in 2 weeks, and they were not. I did not receive them until August 22nd. This was later than I wanted to send them out, but it worked out fine. The problem was, when I did not receive a text, phone call or email, after 2 weeks I was worried. I attempted to call, email, and text multiple times....5 emails, 3 texts, and at least 3 phone calls over 10 days. No response. It was not until my fiancé texted her, a slightly stern text, that she finally responded. It turns out that one of the paper products was on backorder so she was not able to complete my order in 2 weeks. This would have been fine, had she communicated with me, but she did not. Had she called me and told me that it was on back order one of two things would have happened, 1. ok thanks for letting me know, now I know why it is taking so long; or 2. lets find something similar that is not on back order. I just wish she would have communicated with me a little better so I would not have had so much anxiety.
ALL this being said.... I DO recommend her if you can afford her product! She IS professional, she has AWESOME product, and she showed my fiancé and I the old school machine she uses to do letter press invites, which was amazing!! My only caveat would be, make sure you go plenty of time in advance so that if something is on back order you are not freaking out a month and a half before the wedding because you don't have invites yet. I know I have said this multiple times, but I just wish she would have had a better, open line of communication.
I met the owner, Paula, at the Bridal Spectacular show in Las Vegas 2011. She offered free RSVP cards if we scheduled an appointment with her that day. SO I DID!! Two months later ...
we met at her home studio where we spent 2 hours designing my invitation.
She was very nice but I felt like she wasn’t very creative. I wanted information on pockets and she steered me away. She highly advertised her unique Elephant Dunn papers at the Bridal show, but they were EXTREMLY OVER PRICED $$ and nothing on them indicated they were elephant dunm so to the naked eye they looked like normal letterpress paper – not worth the money
However, above all this I became irate with Paula’s lack of communication. She preferred Texting so 2 months after our initial consult I texted her about the progress of my design. She responded that she was out of town until Monday. The following Wednesday I tried texting, calling, and emailing Paula EIGHT TIMES within a 2 month span- never once did she respond.
I then tried texting her from a different cell phone- which she immediately replied to ONCE then never again. I do not think I offended her in any way at our initial visit- I truly think she was overwhelmed with the 150 invitations we needed. I truly felt that the RSVP CARDS SHE OFFERED AT THE BRIDAL SHOW – WERE ONLY A GIMMICK TO GET ME IN THE DOOR AND SHE NEVER PLANNED TO ABIDE BY HER OFFER.
I was disappointed and ended up purchasing my own invites (WITH pockets, RSVP cards, and accommodations cards) online for $100 less than she was offering.
For 150 invites (only) – remember she was supposed to give me the free RSVP postcards, colored envelopes (unlined), and only ONE color ink was $700!!!
I would not recommend Paula for a large event.
