The venue was absolutely amazing. Everyone was super friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. It was absolutely beautiful especially with the lights from the balcony to the stage. I could not have asked for a better venue or a better group of people to help us with the event space!!!
I had a fantastic wedding experience with Liberty Hall!!! If you're looking for a low key, easy to work with, unique place for your reception and/or ceremony you've found it. They were great to work with and helped us out with last minute details. The bartenders were fantastic. The venue is where we had our first date so we are obviously attached to it.
The only down side would be they do not have a kitchen in the venue so you need to be aware if you're planning on a full meal or need a kitchen that is not an option. We did both our ceremony and reception here with an evening during the week wedding with snacks after. So it worked perfectly for us. But it may not work for you.
Our wedding reception at Liberty Hall was great. The staff was incredibly helpful, meeting with us whenever we needed to figure out a plan or detail. They have to provide the alcohol, which I actually loved because they have Free State beer on tap and you just pay for what your guests use. The theater itself is just beautiful and doesn't need much decorating. It's a perfect place for an artistic or history-loving couple.
The venue is gorgeous, especially if your theme is whimsical, vintage, or theatrical. The lighting just made everyone look beautiful. The price was the best we could find for the quality and convenience we wanted.
You have a choice of the newly renovated SpringHill, The Eldridge, or Halcyon House for guests to stay, all within walking distance.
Liberty provides the alcohol and bartenders with Free State brews, the only stuff to drink in Lawrence, and Yellowtail wine or you can special order wine.
Our DJ also utilized the sound system with no problems. We used their microphones during the ceremony and reception (e.g. toasts).
Rob Fitzgerald was very accommodating to our needs and easy to contact via email. We talked on the phone a few times, too. Janelle, the beverage manager, was wonderful, too. Pretty much everyone working there is great--definitely good Lawrence people.
If you are curious about where you can get ready, they open the upstairs offices for the bride and her crew; and the grooms get to hang out backstage. Our pictures for when all the girls were hanging out upstairs are beautiful because of the lighting and all the windows.
There is so much history and beauty with this venue. You won't even have to decorate! You can't go wrong. I take that back. You can go wrong if you wait too long to book it. They can book up quickly with private and public events. Also, you can only have about 175 people seated on the main floor and 50 on stage, so if you are having a big wedding with a seated dinner, skip it.
I loved working with Liberty Hall. Perfect venue for our reception. Fun, flexible, relaxed. They don't take advantage of you with the alcohol costs or other addditional items.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly!
