The staff was so easy to work with and they set everything up exactly the way I imagined it. Our wedding day could not have been more of what I hoped for. Liberty Hall Museum is a historic wedding venue located in the heart of Union, NJ, a short distance from Kean University and approximately two miles from several popular points of interest, including Elizabeth River Park and Warinanco Park. Constructed in 1772, on the eve of the American Revolution, by William Livingston, a signatory to the Constitution and New Jersey’s first elected governor, Liberty Hall Museum has been a part of American history for more than 200 years. Countless dignitaries, including George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, have visited over the years. The venue was the setting for the marriage between Sarah Livingston and John Jay, the first chief justice of the Supreme Court, back in 1774. Now, you can make a little history of your own. Liberty Hall Museum boasts 23 acres of immaculate grounds, complete with beautiful gardens, expansive lawns, and lots of impressive architecture. The venue offers five event areas. These include the 1882 Carriage House, the wagon shed, the glass-enclosed porch, the historic grounds, and an outdoor tent. The 1882 Carriage House can accommodate a maximum of 80 guests, and the wagon shed can seat up to 60 people. The glass-enclosed porch is perfect for more intimate gatherings and provides sufficient space for up to 24 guests, while the historic grounds and tent can host parties of up to 150. There is also a dressing area where you can relax and prepare for your wedding celebration. The venue also includes spaces that are perfect for your pre-wedding party and rehearsal dinner. Liberty Hall Museum offers several services and amenities designed to make your day run smoothly. These include bistro lighting, tables, chairs, and an on-site day-of wedding coordinator who will be on hand to support you and provide any assistance you may require. ty Hall even existed until I came across it in a wedding Facebook group. Finding it turned out to be one of the best things that could’ve happened—it was truly everything we wanted and more. We had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony followed by a reception under the tent. The grounds were stunning, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect (thank you, Jesus!). Alicia, our coordinator, was incredible from start to finish. From the first visit and planning meetings to coordinating with vendors on the wedding day, she made sure everything ran smoothly. Looking back at our photos, we’re still in awe of how perfectly everything came together. I highly recommend Liberty Hall Museum—its charm, history, and affordability make it a wonderful choice for anyone dreaming of a beautiful outdoor wedding!

d we both fell in love with Liberty Hall at the first visit. Alicia walked us through the beautiful gardens (yes, there are multiple, so plenty of photo spots!) around Dec 2023, so it was pretty cold. No flowers, no tent setup, and trees were all dry, but beauty doesn't lie. You could really tell how beautiful the entire estate would be in the spring time. After the first visit, we both knew that we had found our venue. Our ceremony was in an open space facing the Rose Garden. We decorated the arch of the Rose Garden with flowers, so no arch rental needed. Our cocktail hour was inside the Carriage House, and reception inside a tent provided by the venue (at an extra cost, but BEST decision ever!). We also did photoshoots in all gardens and museum staircases too, and our photo/videographers could not stop praising what a gem Liberty Hall is! Every corner of the site is so picture-perfect! We highly recommend adding the Bridal Suite to your package. It again came at an extra cost, but we utilized it for almost everything: make up, wardrobe changes, relaxing, eating, storing stationaries/personal items, etc. We also had Alicia as our day coordinator and she really nailed it! Very supportive, showed much care to us and our guests, and ran everything smoothly. It started raining lightly 30 min before our ceremony and I swear I almost cried. We almost let go of our outdoor wedding plan and moved everything inside the tent, but Alicia made things happen as planned! She opened up the green house and placed our string musicians there. She helped move things around, while still cared for our guests (and their umbrellas). She solved everything! What we thought was our biggest nightmare, turned out to be just fine, all thanks to her! Liberty Hall's catering policy was something that we wished was different. We had to choose from 3 options, or there was an extra buy-out charge, which was pretty high for our guest count. They mentioned that this is due to safety concerns as they are still a history/heritage building after all. We decided to work with one of their partners which turned out to be great, but we would love a greater flexibility there. Overall, Liberty Hall Museum is perfect for outdoor, nature, garden-theme, and tent wedding. Good value for money and the package can be customized according to your needs. One add-on that we considered, but not end up taking, was a museum tour. Would be a cool way to entertain guests in between.

loved the grounds so much, even in the rain, that we knew we’d found our venue. The day before our wedding the forecast called for rain, so we reluctantly set up for and rehearsed the ceremony in the tent. The morning of our wedding the weather looked like it would hold so Alicia and her team worked their magic setting up chairs and moving the arbor so we could have our ceremony in the orchard like we had hoped! Our guests loved the grounds and enjoyed exploring and taking pictures in the gardens during cocktail hour. Throughout the planning process Alicia was quick to answer any questions we had and offered suggestions when we weren’t sure how to handle a given situation. Our wedding went so smoothly and we can’t thank Alicia and her team enough!

emails. The grounds themselves were incredible, every direction you turned was something beautiful to appreciate. The venue offers a place to get ready in, different locations to take pictures and having the tent there was simply lovely. Our guests were amazed by the history the grounds held, enjoyed the beautiful Rose Garden and Carriage House and danced the night away under the tent. If you're looking for a romantic, outdoor and reasonably priced venue, Liberty Hall is the way to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience working with Alicia. nd it was incredibly beautiful. the reception under the tent was perfect. during the planning process, Rachel was so easy to work with. whenever we needed to stop by for any reason, she made sure she could be available. when i brought over my decorations prior to the wedding, she took extra care to make sure my tallit would be safe. I cannot stop singing the praises of this venue and it's staff!

Liberty Hall is truly a hidden gem in Northern NJ. We searched through a ton of places and were really struggling to find something that was right for us and fit within our budget....

We got married in September and the grounds were absolutely beautiful – they made the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and photos. The tent was great for the ceremony, we fit 140 comfortably and had plenty of room for dancing. Though it’s on Kean’s campus, it’s totally secluded and was quiet without a lot of street or traffic noise. And it has the benefit of being near the airport and lots of hotel options which was really convenient for people traveling. We were also so lucky to get to work with Mei, the event coordinator. She does an excellent job and is so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. Her and her team made sure everything was set up perfectly and that all went according to plan. If you’re looking for a simple but beautiful outdoor venue, I can’t recommend Liberty Hall enough!

I was looking for and the photos online really don't do it justice. All of our guests raved about how they couldn't believe they hadn't been to this venue before as it is a hidden gem which was just the unique feeling I was looking for. The ceremony was held outdoors and they have quite a few locations to choose from around the grounds. There is an original carriage house available to host cocktail hour as well as complementary entry into the museum which I loved to offer guests a unique experience. There is a large permanent tent for the reception which comfortably holds up to 125 guests and a dance floor. This made for a great outdoor atmosphere but still helped keep the event somewhat climate-controlled. After viewing and booking the venue in the winter, I was blown away seeing the grounds in full bloom for a summer or early fall event. One challenge with this venue compared to some all-inclusive sites is that they don't offer catering and alcohol included. However, they have a few recommendations to work with. We chose to work with the university's fine dining services which helped keep things as seamless as possible.

d the contract Gina - the on-site coordinator - was attentive, responsive, and patient with my many questions and requests. She spent a good hour with us the day before the wedding as we figured out the procession and picture location. On the big day Gina and her intern Jessica were there to make sure all vendors had what they needed, that our champagne bucket was never empty and that everything ran smoothly. The grounds were immaculate and my guests continue to send us raving reviews about how much fun they had - how every where they turned there was something new and beautiful to discover. If you want to have a wedding that is an unforgettable experience to you and your guests then Liberty Hall is the place for you.

r guests to be able to explore and take photographs of the lovely seasonal foliage. Our ceremony was held in the gardens behind the mansion, surrounded by the natural beauty of the early spring (which cut down on florist costs). The cocktail hour was held in the former carriage house and the reception was under a tent. A few of our older guests complained that it was a little chilly at night despite our suggestions that they bring a light jacket or sweater for the May 2nd chilly evening. The carriage house however remained opened and heated throughout our reception for people to warm up. Gina the event coordinator was so helpful and patient from start to finish throughout the planning process. Be advised that you have to coordinate all of your own vendors, however Gina helps you as the event gets closer to be in touch with all the vendors for day-of coordination. Also on our first tour of the venue, Gina provided us with a list of approved caterers to chose from, which really helped to narrow down our options! Our guests continually commented on how beautiful everything was. I could not be happier with how beautiful, fun, and romantic our wedding was!

you will need to handle all of the outside vendors on your own but it allows for the wedding to be very customized which we loved. All night guests were commenting on how beautiful the grounds were and took pictures all over the property. A really wonderful and special place for a special day.

I just returned from my visit to Liberty Hall Museum as a possible venue for my wedding. I was suppose to meet with Danielle M. Armstrong, but she never showed up. I walked around ...

the grounds myself. I came 10-15 minutes early, and when I told someone I was there to meet with Danielle, he said, I'm sure she'll be here. So I waited until 2. and I waited until 2:10. and I called her, and there was no answer. So let me save you the trouble. Here is the package. The grounds were pretty with roses and lilies, but the hedges didn't seemed trimmed very neatly. You could have a garden ceremony and would have to rent chairs and everything yourself. The Carriage House was cold and dark with giant black and white pictures of farmers and ppl inside. Also a giant fake horse and carriage in there. Not the best place for a reception. They have a glass house that is way too small to use. can fit 20 ppL? And they have a tent already set up which you can use -thats nice, but you'd still have to rent your own chairs/tables/linens/caterer and air conditioning. so if this sounds good to you, then good luck meeting with Danielle! Our full package includes: an outdoor ceremony, use of the Wagon Shed (as a bridal suite), use of the Carriage House (for the cocktail hour), use of the Tent (for the reception- up to 150 guests), the entire grounds and a one hour tour of the museum for your guests. This package is $7,500, it is an 8hr rental, including set-up, event time and breakdown. You can have your event anytime between 10AM and 11PM. We provide the tables and chairs for the Carriage House & Wagon Shed. Currently, you will have to rent the tables and chairs needed under the tent. However, you can rent each facility depending on what your needs are. I've attached the price list for all the facility options.
