Liberty Mountain was the perfect venue for our end of summer wedding (08/24/18)! We actually stumbled across it unexpectedly during our venue search and scheduled a tour because it checked off several important items we were hoping to find in a... venue: outdoor and indoor space for all parts of our event, beautiful mountain scenery, a casually elegant ballroom that required minimal extra décor and could be used for our ceremony back-up rain plan, on-property hotel accommodations for guests, a bar and fire pit area (ok this one wasn't a must-have - but it was a great extra!) for guests to gather after the reception, and an on-site post-wedding brunch space. We utilized the Overlook Room and Terrace (located within Highland Lodge) and also found that the well-maintained golf course located below and beyond the Overlook Terrace added to the lovely scenery of the venue. Having seen our wedding photos, we can also say that every area of the venue photographed well. For hair, nails, make-up, we utilized Laventide Salon (located on-site) and everyone looked fabulous!
Our Day-of-Coordinator was Alyssa, who we worked with for most of our planning process after a previous coordinator left LMR for a new job. Alyssa took on the responsibility with ease and professionalism. She really made us feel like her #1 priority (even though we know she had other couples to work with simultaneously), which we greatly appreciated. Missy and Deanna worked with us on the sales/financial side of our event. We found that everyone demonstrated kindness and flexibility, as well as ability to effortlessly address all questions/issues. Bridgett coordinated our room block. She also demonstrated professionalism and efficiently handled questions & requests regarding the room blocks. All other LMR staff members were kind and helpful across the board – they each showed friendliness and a willingness to assist us throughout the planning process and during/after our event.
For our reception food, we had Jack Daniels bourbon beef, pan-seared salmon, & penne pasta primavera (+ children's entrée). We had the entrees served with roasted beet salad, seasoned parsley potatoes, seasonal vegetables, & gourmet hot rolls with honey butter. The venue accommodated all food allergies/food restrictions. For cocktail hour, we chose coconut chicken tempura, basil/mozzarella/tomato skewers, beef carpaccio crostini, & shrimp cocktail, plus the garden vegetables & seasonal fruit. For our alcoholic drinks, we chose the house brand liquor/wine, domestic bottled beers, & added a selection of special bottled beers. We also had two signature drinks, which the venue helped us coordinate serving. We will note that our first food tasting (a joint event with other couples and family members hosted at the venue) was lacking in several areas. We provided specific feedback to the team working with us, and the venue accommodated a second private tasting (bride & groom only). We found the food to be much better during the second tasting, which eliminated our hesitations about the quality of food that would be served at our event. On the day of our wedding, the food tasted fantastic (we actually got to enjoy eating most of it) and the drinks were good.
In sum, LMR truly had everything we were looking for in a venue – even matching the letters of our new married monogram (L-M-R)! We hope many more couples have a positive experience there and we plan to visit again in the future for a romantic getaway.
