To top it all off, she gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate with! resorts. We loved our honeymoon and had an amazing time at the resort; however, we were left disappointed with their lack of help and service when we felt we needed them the most. Our trip was during hurricane season. We booked through Lisa as we didn’t want to worry about checking on our flight status, canceling anything or applying the insurance ourselves if needed – and we told her as such at our meeting. Houston airport (our connection) was hit by a hurricane and the airport was shut down either the day of or day before our wedding. Yes, we understand it was our responsibility and also our mistake to not follow this more closely. We were focused on the wedding and trusted that Lisa would contact us with any problems. We received nothing from Lisa or her team - not a heads up that our connection could potentially be an issue or a notification that our flights were actually canceled. We think since they booked our trip, any notification would have gone to Lisa rather than us. We do not know if anything was sent to Lisa; all we know is that neither one of us received any notification whatsoever. After sorting out our flights with Funjet, we asked Lisa if we should consider adjusting our return flight (through Houston). Their reply: “Please check in to your flights within 24 hours before your departure time. You can do this at the front desk. If your flight is cancelled or changes are made, you will need to call the Funjet phone number provided to rearrange a new flight schedule. Below are the numbers again for a quick reference. Clients are responsible for contacting the airline to reconfirm flights. It is really difficult to provide an opinion on your return flights. It is still raining in Houston and the airport flooded. We cannot predict what it will be like on your return date. The airline will reroute you if necessary. I do wish I had an exact answer for you.” We took their response as: they did not have any suggestions, we were on our own for our travel plans, and they would not try to help us fix any other potential issues. Other problems we experienced: 1. We asked the resort if they had received our wedding invitation. Without proof of marriage, the resort has the right to refuse the honeymoon package. Lisa either never sent it or double checked with the resort - after repeating on multiple occasions they would forward it. Luckily I grabbed an extra copy before we left. 2. The resort asked if our travel agent informed us they were under construction and implied that they always want their guests know ahead of time and what to expect. We were not told they were under construction. 3. After all this, they addressed a welcome home email to us – with the wrong name. Overall, we did find Lisa Hoppe helpful for selecting and booking our trip, but we would not ever use their services again. We were left with no help in the busy days before and after our wedding – when we trusted them to relay any problems and make necessary changes for us or at least offer helpful recommendations as they are supposed to be the expert in this area.

o avail before reaching out to Lisa, who I had met at a Bridal Expo. She and team were quick to answer our questions, and had some great suggestions that met our criteria perfectly. We had a few issues working with their team that contributed to a 4-star review instead of 5. First, we really struggled to check into our flights, as the team did not provide our passport information to the airline, which we assumed they were doing, as they needed our passport information to book the trip. Second, the staff weren't fully aware of the details of their travel insurance policies. Due to a weather-related flight delay, we missed our connecting flight to Jamaica and ended up spending our first night in Baltimore. We called their office from the airport in Baltimore before booking a hotel for the night to understand what would be reimbursable through the policy. We were told that all "reasonable" expenses for lodging, meals, and transport would be covered, while in fact the policy only covered $100 per person, per day. Third, we were unable to reach anyone at their office outside of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, which was very inconvenient considering that our flight boarded at 5:45am on a Monday, and we weren't able to check into the flight on Sunday night. (However, I'd like to note that once we were in contact with their office, they were responsive and tried in earnest to help us resolve our travel issues.) In general - Lisa Hoppe and team were great to work with for selecting our destination and resort, and booking our trip, but there was room for improvement in managing issues that popped up unexpectedly. Still, I recognize that our travel issues were not reflective of the average traveler, and would recommend them to a friend.

We wouldn't normally have gone through an agency. I (the groom) am the type to research and find the best deal/value/quality myself, but with so many other things on our plate while planning an MN wedding from NYC, we weren't too reluctant to give up control. Our leap of faith in booking with a travel agency was greatly rewarded. We only communicated via email, but the staff was incredibly prompt in responding to all of our questions. Instead of selecting one of the original trips that Lisa Hoppe Travel recommended to us, which were in a much lower budget range, we actually decided to extend our budget higher than we were initially comfortable to select a trip we had seen in one of the agency's promotional emails. Our experience was wonderful and well worth the cost. After deciding on the trip a few months away from the wedding, we didn't have to think of the honeymoon until the night before (make sure to leave a day to decompress between the wedding and the honeymoon!). All of the arrangements were taken care of, and we were able follow our helpful travel information packet all the way to front door of our resort. Great, knowledgeable staff that made it easy to plan our honeymoon well in advance and from afar. Saved us quite a bit of money from booking directly through the Secrets website as well...
