Little House of Flowers

Our wedding flowers from Little House of Flowers in Gambrills, MD were truly gorgeous. I couldn’t believe how large and lovely my bridal bouquet was. The shop delivered all of our order on time to our venue (London Town in Edgewater, MD), too. Judy and Martha also were really enthusiastic, helpful, and accommodating when we got to meet with them in person. They gave us a lot of sensible advice about what we did and did not need, and about what flower combinations would look good together and be in season. I will say that we wish communication had been a bit better. It wasn't terrible by any stretch, but it still left a bit to be desired. We went to the shop twice, once when we decided to book there a year out and once about a month or so before the wedding to finalize our order. Of course, it was a bit of a struggle to get a hold of anyone to schedule that second meeting or to ask questions about payment due dates and methods; our wedding coordinator tried and tried, too. Just be aware that the shop (luckily for it) is very busy, so you probably will have to play phone tag at a stressful time in your life. Of course, the shop is also highly competent and accommodating, so... you won't have to worry about any major issues. Additionally, make sure you read the final contract over carefully. That seems obvious, but when your wedding is less than one month out and you get a finalized invoice draft, it is hard to pay attention to every detail. While we had said out loud several times that we did NOT want the shop to return to clean up at the wedding, a breakdown fee made its way into the contract, and the shop came to clean up hardly anything at the end of our wedding night. I’m sure it was an honest mistake on both the shop’s part for including it and on my part for missing it, but… let it be a lesson to really check everything multiple times. It was the only invoice issue I encountered across any vendor. All that said, we are still so pleased with how the florals looked. The bud vases, dining centerpieces, bridesmaid bouquet, boutonnieres, corsages, and bridal bouquet were stunning. Our guests are still talking about how vibrant it all was. I'm really glad we chose Little House of Flowers, as the service was great without breaking the bank!

If you have not yet booked your wedding with Little House of Flowers – don’t. Similar to many of the other reviews, I booked with Little House of Flowers during the previous ownership. I found out in Spring of 2022 that the ownership had changed – not from the shop itself but from a Maryland Bride Facebook group. 2 months prior to my wedding I reached out to the shop (multiple times) to set up a final consultation, which I was told we could not do till almost a month before my wedding and after the final payment was due. I hesitantly agreed, under the agreement that I would not make the final payment until after the consultation. When I arrived for the consultation, Martha was not there. I was told she had forgotten about the appointment and was elsewhere, and that another employee, Judi, would be helping me. Judi and I spent hours creating the perfect bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and everything else for my wedding. When I finally spoke with Martha, she informed me that she had missed our meeting not because she forgot, but because she was being rushed to the hospital as she thought she had broken her hand. This is where the lies started. After a few emails sorting out details of the contract, and a surprise price increase that came out of nowhere, we finally agreed on a contract and an arrival time. Fast forward to my wedding day, we were informed that the delivery person was running a few minutes late. She showed up 45 minutes late, which delayed our timeline for the entire day. When she arrived, the items she brought clearly did not match what was in my contract. All of the personal flowers were drenched, we had to dry everything with paper towels to make them even somewhat usable. Things were falling apart due to how wet they were, including all of the corsages which fell apart as they were being put on and nobody even got to wear them to the ceremony. When I asked why she was late, she said the owner gave her the wrong arrival time, despite our multiple correspondences about the arrival time. After the ceremony, I was told that the reception décor was lackluster. Upon arriving, the cocktail tables literally had 3-5 eucalyptus leaves on them (for $25 a table) instead of the greenery that we had discussed in my consultation and that I had sent example photos of. It looked like they pulled scraps from the boxes they had brought. The dinner tables had some bunches of greenery on them, but still not what I had asked for or paid for. When I called the store after our wedding, Judi answered the phone, and was so empathetic and remorseful over my terrible experience. When Martha called me back, she started with how I was lying about what had showed up, claiming the delivery person was on time and that Martha herself had double checked the order for accuracy – which clearly was not true as nothing seemed to match. After 3 days of arguing and Martha calling me a liar and making excuses for their poor performance, she decided to issue me a small store credit for the inconvenience. She refused to take my phone calls after this. Luckily, Judi answered the phone to hear me out on what I thought was fair to get returned to me and she was able to work with Martha to get me a more reasonable refund. Judi is amazing and deserves the credit for every positive experience that I had with this store. Working with Martha is a total nightmare, as her attention to detail is poor and she does nothing but make excuses.
