Live Love Bake

Marin Cake Studio designs custom wedding cakes in downtown San Rafael, for couples marrying across Marin County, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma. WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE There is no catalogue here and no case to point at. That is the whole difference between a studio and a bakery, and it changes the first conversation: instead of asking which cake you would like, we ask about the wedding. The venue and what its light does in the late afternoon. The season, and what is worth eating in it. The palette you have already chosen everything else around. What the two of you actually like, which is often not what is on the mood board. From there we design. You taste. Nothing is booked until both the design and the flavors are settled, because a cake you were talked into is a cake nobody enjoys on the day. Lindsay takes a limited number of weddings each season. That is deliberate and it is the reason the work looks the way it does. FLAVORS Very Vanilla, Tres Leches, Tiramisu, Pink Champagne, Red Velvet, Almond, Lemon, Chocolate and more, with fillings from Salted Caramel Drizzle and Raspberry to Bavarian Cream and Cookie Butter Crunch. Custom flavor development is part of the service rather than an upcharge on a fixed list. Gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options are available by request, so a guest with a restriction gets the same cake as everyone else rather than a separate plate. Everything is baked on shared equipment that handles nuts, dairy, eggs and wheat, so we are not able to take orders for diagnosed allergies. DELIVERY AND SETUP Cakes above our minimum are delivered and set up at the venue by us. Not dropped at a loading dock, not handed to a caterer to assemble. Venues we have worked at include Deer Park Villa in Fairfax, the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, the Outdoor Art Club in Mill Valley, Rancho Nicasio, Geneva Terrace, Viansa Winery in Sonoma, Maple Lawn Estate, Falkirk Cultural Center, The Clubhouse at Peacock Gap and Slide Ranch. Having been in a room before tells us how warm it runs by four o'clock, where the load-in actually is, and how much internal structure a tiered cake needs to survive the drive and the afternoon. TIMING Wedding cakes are booked four to six weeks ahead, and three to four months for dates in peak season, May through October. A 50% deposit holds the date. If your date is sooner than that, ask anyway — there is sometimes room. ONE NOTE ON THE NAME Marin Cake Studio was previously Live Love Bake. Same designer, same studio, same standards.
