I got married a couple of weeks ago at Longleaf Vineyard and it was hands down the best venue we could have ever hoped for! All of our guests raved about how beautiful it was and how unique the space is compared to other weddings they had been to in the NC mountains. Wendy and Brian (the vineyard owners) could not have been easier to work with throughout the entire process from the first call we had introducing ourselves to the end of the night. They truly opened up their home and personal vineyard to us - one of coolest elements is that they offer a wine tasting during cocktail hour where Brian hosts guests for a tasting of their wine right outside of their home. So so cool and everyone loved it!
Being a former wedding planner herself, Wendy knows all of the ins and outs of the business and truly helps the bride-to-be work through details that I personally would have never thought of. She was extremely organized and worked well with our other vendors - I also loved that she had standing partnerships with our baker and caterer (which were both incredible) which made it seamless from my end.
Planning a wedding can easily turn into a full-time job and I cannot stress enough how important it is to find good partners which you will absolutely find at Longleaf Vineyards. My husband and I are forever grateful for Wendy and Brian and if you are planning a wedding in the NC mountains you MUST check them out!
Incredible venue and team! We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding. Initially we tried for a west coast mountain wedding (where we live) but quickly found guest travel, venue pricing, elevation concerns, final estimates to be high. We switched to the east coast and found this venue. By the end, we both said no venue in Colorado, the Rockies or PNW could have matched Longleaf Vineyards. Longleaf works directly with previous partnering vendors, making wedding day easy and smooth because the team knows each other. Every suggestion they have was spot on what we needed. We love everything about this venue!
We got married at Longleaf in September 2021 and we couldn't have asked for a more magical day! Wendy was so great to work with during the entire planning process. She has previous wedding planning experience and her advice and expertise were so appreciated. Longleaf truly is a venue unlike any other - with the views and wine from their own vineyard, we felt like the venue made our wedding feel so personalized and special. Many of our guests agreed it wasn't like the cookie-cutter venues people always pick. Everyone stayed in downtown Asheville and we had buses to transport to and from the venue - everything went off without a hitch! If you're looking for a venue that truly caters to the couples that choose them, look no further than Longleaf Vineyard!
We had our wedding at Longleaf this October and it was an INCREDIBLE experience! Wendy and Brian have a gorgeous property-it was our dream wedding. Wendy is very detail-oriented and our day ran smoothly thanks to Wendy and our coordinator!
One thing I did want to mention, which was referenced by another reviewer, is that planning with Wendy can be a challenge at times if you go outside of her preferred style (i.e.-her preferred wedding timelines). Wendy has lots of experience and knowledge about weddings, which is absolutely an asset but can also be challenging if y'all's visions don't align. This was something we ran into (we didn't request anything that went against her policies, just her preferences) but we were able to figure it out together. Wendy was willing to compromise when we asked, but it did take some insistent self-advocating on our part. One thing to take into account is the property isn't just a venue but also her home (their house is on the property).
The actual day of our wedding ran very smoothly and Wendy and Brian were amazing day-of. Wendy helped insure our day went according to plan and was amazing with our guests! We hired Brian to do the wine tasting during the wedding and he did a great job! Worth every penny!! As long as you're willing to plan diligently and choose your battles, Longleaf can be everything you want it to be, just as it was for us.
We are so happy we chose Longleaf Vineyard for our daughter's wedding! Wendy was absolutely a dream to work and walked us through all the steps. I knew we were in good hands from the moment we first met! The vineyard made the most beautiful backdrop for the ceremony, so many beautiful spots on the property for everyone to enjoy! My daughter and new son in law both said it was the best day in their lives! Thank you, Wendy and Brian for giving us such a magical day at Longleaf Vineyard! Also, we received so many compliments on the Venue and the Wines! As a mother of the bride, I felt at ease when I was met by Wendy the day of the wedding! She said, "Now is your day to relax and take it all in". Wendy was right! We can't thank you enough!!
I could not have asked for a better wedding venue. We were only able to view it on a zoom call due to the pandemic and travel distance, but seeing it in person, it was even more beautiful than I could have imagined! Wendy was such a pleasure to work with and made everything seamless leading up to the day. Every single one of our guests mentioned how stunning the view was and I could not agree more. The location setup is extremely convenient! It was an absolutely unforgettable day for us and are so grateful to have made such amazing memories there.
I knew from the moment I walked up to the ceremony site that Longleaf was the perfect place for us to get married. It was gorgeous and everything I had dreamed of. The views are unreal. Once we started the planning process, things changed significantly. It was very difficult to plan with Wendy. As a bride with a specific vision, it felt like she took pleasure in saying no to my ideas, rather than offering suggestions for how we could work together to accomplish my vision. I did my very best to be considerate, amicable, and professional in my communication about our goals for the day while abiding by the parameters that were given to us. Being an event planner myself, I was caught off guard at the way I was treated as a client, and more importantly as a bride. I felt like an inconvenience and was constantly apologizing for my requests or ideas. I had an amazing wedding planner who worked with her every step of the way and provided complete transparency with our plans. Wendy consistently told us we could not do things, even when our plans did not break any rules, it was simply her preference that things be done differently.
If you are considering booking this venue, the below are very important for you to know:
Regarding capacities, we were told 120 people would comfortably fit in the venue. This is not true. When we submitted our diagrams with seating for 120 people in rounds of 8, we were told it would be too crowded. The venue is much more suited for 80-100 people, so plan your décor accordingly. You will not be able to use larger items if you actually plan on having 120 people.
When I began booking vendors in the area, I reached out to no less than 12 transportation companies (which is required by LV if serving alcohol at your wedding) Every one of them declined my request for quotes because of their difficult and negative experiences with Wendy in the past. They refused to provide service to Longleaf Vineyard and I had to look elsewhere.
Lastly and most importantly, my husband and I did not get to have a grand exit because our guests were rushed out of the venue 15 minutes early of our send off. Despite having meticulously reviewed our timeline and knowing the time for our grand exit, the LV staff forced our guests onto the shuttles early. We had specifically planed the timing around the vineyard’s rules – there is a noise ordinance and we had to be out by 10pm. It was disappointing and incredibly embarrassing. Our guests were very confused as to why they were being rushed onto the shuttle prior to the bride and groom’s exit and we did not get to say goodbye to our friends and family. Even our DJ was confused, and was still playing music preparing for our final song, following our timeline. When my planner confronted Wendy about this, she said she “didn’t know”, which is simply not true.
Overall, if I had known the planning process and customer service would be this difficult, I would not have chosen Longleaf. It is absolutely gorgeous, but I believe we could’ve found a comparable venue and saved ourselves a multitude of headaches. Beautiful venue, poor partnership.
I cannot say enough about Longleaf Vineyards. On top of its gorgeous backdrop, Wendy was absolutely fantastic to work with and made our day go off without a hitch. I highly recommend.
The amazing mountain top views, the scenery and vibrant colors, and the quality of service provided by Wendy and Brian, made Longleaf Vineyard the best choice for our fall wedding! Tucked away in Marshall, North Carolina, Longleaf Vineyard is a hidden gem every bride deserves to find! We got married November 2019 and our guests are still raving about Longleaf Vineyard’s mountain top views. We booked the venue sight unseen (and from out of state) but Wendy and Brian were so easy to work with. They were happy to help and provided what they could to bring our vision to the big day. Wendy’s wedding planning experience was so helpful throughout the wedding planning process and ensured that our dream wedding went off without a hitch. And let’s not forget the wine! Longleaf Vineyard has a great selection of wine for every kind of taste that shows up to the party. We are so happy we chose Longleaf Vineyard as the venue for our dream wedding! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Longleaf was everything that we dreamed of. We had almost given up hope in finding a venue, but as soon as we got to the top of the hill overlooking the vineyard into the mountains, we knew that this was it. It was the perfect intimate setting with the most gorgeous views. Wendy and Brian were fantastic. Wendy made sure everything was perfect and was quick to answer any and all questions that we had. Brian's passion for the vineyard showed through the amazing wine that they offered-- everyone is still raving about that Peach Chardonnay. This is definitely a venue that you don't want to miss!
We had our wedding at longleaf vineyard this June, and we could not have asked for a more perfect night. Wendy is amazing and made our wedding planning process so much easier. She also was an incredible help during the event. I have nothing but good things to say about the venue and owners.
Longleaf Vineyard: Perfect view and perfect owners
If I could rate Wendy and Longleaf Vineyard with 1000 stars I would!
Wendy and her husband are the sweetest people I had the pleasure of working with during my 13 month engagement. Wendy is dedicated to her clients to make sure that the day is everything the bride and groom imagined and more. On my big day we somehow forgot to pick up the wedding cake. As the bride I was FREAKING out. Without hesitation, Wendy jumps in her car and goes to pick up our cake while our ceremony goes on without a hitch. I highly recommend Longleaf Vineyards, the view and the owner's wonderful hospitality make that venue absolute perfection I wouldn't have had my wedding day any where else.
INCREDIBLE in every aspect!!! Wendy, the owner used to be a wedding planner so she makes hosting your wedding super STRESS FREE, easy, and fun. My wedding was June 2nd and the weather was perfect, the vines were beautifully green, and the mountain view was priceless. Multiple guests said it was "the best wedding they had ever been to". The pergola you give your vows under is beautiful with the vines and mountains in the backdrop, the pavilion provides a rustic cover incase it rains, and a large white tent with beautiful lighting guarantees a formal and sophisticated feel to an outdoor reception. Wendy and Brian did a wonderful job of making sure the property looks great for your wedding day. We are so lucky we found this gem just a 20 minute ride from downtown! I highly recommend this picture perfect venue to everyone!
The venue is beyond gorgeous - you just can't beat that amazing mountain view! The layout was perfect for our 100-person wedding - from the ceremony space with incredible mountain and vineyard views, to the cocktail hour pavilion, to the new tent with chairs/tables included. All of our guests were raving about what a beautiful venue it was, and our pictures look incredible! We loved that it had a secluded feel, yet was still close in proximity to the Asheville area. Wendy was so helpful throughout the process, and has been working hard on renovations to make the vineyard look its best. We highly recommend Longleaf Vineyard to anyone looking to get married here. Thank you Wendy and Brian for hosting our perfect day! We can't wait to come back!
