we’ve got to respond to your misleading and untruthful review. You ignored our good faith attempts to respond to the situation and we do not deserve your disparagement. We’re a small, family-owned business and we take great pride in our many successful events and hundreds of positive online reviews that we’ve received through our 19 years of business. Based on what you told Loose Mansion staff and the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), exactly (2) wallets were taken out of purses, one of which was yours. There were other purses with wallets/cash left in the same room that were not missing after the event. The amount of loss you claimed to the police and to our staff was a total of $460. The claims you made to the KCPD are inconsistent with your exaggerated review, and as we understand, the investigation remains inconclusive. Further, our staff reached out to you immediately and have done everything we could do to help figure out what happened by twice looking at all available camera footage with you and your parents, and providing footage to the police. Our off-duty police officer assisted you with filing the police report. I reached out to you the very next day after this occurred by email and told you that we were all just sick about what happened and would assist in the investigation. Your inferences to our staff that this was somehow an “inside job” by Mansion staff are completely meritless and frankly don’t even warrant a response. Further, despite the fact that Loose Mansion (and other hospitality businesses) do not traditionally assume any liability for criminal actions of third parties (such as theft), we quickly offered to reimburse you for the actual loss you reported of $460 (again, despite not being liable for the same) hoping to preserve our very good 1.5-year relationship with you and your family. You and your parents ignored the messages and our offer, and in your review, purposely omitted our gesture and paint us as cold and distanced from the situation. As you know, that was not the case at all. Contrary to your review, we provide good security for our clients and guests. In 19 years of business, theft and criminal behavior has simply been a non-issue at Loose Mansion. We provide experienced off-duty police officers to police the grounds, which would be the most likely place for any mischief to occur. Our off-duty officers have said that Loose Mansion is safer and more secure than other businesses they’ve supported, including many in the Plaza, Westport or Downtown areas. Neither you or others in your group asked about use of the clearly visible combination lock on the bridal suite door until after the theft was discovered. This lock has never been broken. We have other ways to “lock up” valuables for guests and clients, if they request it, and valuables could easily have been left locked in the Carriage House (our Bed & Breakfast) which you rented for the weekend. The bridal suite is a busy place. The bridal party, family and friends, event management staff, hair and make-up vendors, photographers, florists and others go in and out of this room continuously. I’m sure you were aware of the activity, but you still chose to leave purses lying in the open. You also mentioned to our off-duty officer and staff that during the afternoon in the trolley while taking photos at locations around Kansas City before heading to the mansion, purses were also left unattended. Although unfortunate that the evening ended with discovering the two missing wallets, we’re happy that you and your family enjoyed the wedding day and the full ceremony and reception before the discovery was made.
