We loved having our wedding at Loring Greenhough House! We had about 50 people and were able to access the house and the lawn. We were mostly outside and had a bunch of lawn games, and we set up the food buffet and bar inside. It worked out perfectly! They were great to work with and helped with the prep and clean-up. They also recommended a wonderful caterer that did an amazing job.
We were delighted that hosting our reception at the Loring-Greenough House allowed us to be married right in our home neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. We walked with a parade from our ceremony location and being on the lawn at the house felt like being in an amazing JP backyard! Amanda was super helpful and easy to work with throughout the entire process. We also felt very fortunate to benefit from the amazing, well-kept gardens, and had lawn games out during the party. The venue also allowed food trucks which ended up being the best food option for us, and so fun for our guests! If we could do it all again, we would choose Loring-Greenough again and again.
The Loring Greenough House was a fantastic venue for our May 2017 wedding! The location -- right in the heart of Jamaica Plain -- can't be beat, as most of our guests were able to walk or take public transit. The interior of the house is quirky and fun, but what can't be beat is the beautiful outdoor garden and reception area. The gardens are maintained by volunteers and they do an extraordinary job making sure it looks just perfect day of. Amanda helped provide day of coordination and was SO friendly, helpful and easy to work with throughout the process, from the first time we emailed till the end of the night. She went above and beyond helping with extra special touches for the day of. It's a historic house so they have some limitations, but nothing we found particularly onerous. (Ok, it was a great party and we wish it could have gone a bit later, but we just moved the fun to a local bar and it was great.) The LGH was a perfect, reasonably affordable option and I recommend it highly!
The Loring-Greenough House is a superb venue for a wedding. My daughter had a small wedding out of state and then a reception at LGH this summer. Throughout the planning process, the staff at LGH were fabulous. They helped us with the planning and were available every time we had a question or needed advice. The venue speaks for itself. Whether you want an elegant, formal wedding or a casual bar-b-q, the setting is perfect with the lovely gardens and expansive lawn.
We married at the Loring-Greenough House in August 2016. We chose the venue because we live in the neighborhood and loved the historical house and gardens. The garden aisle is so beautiful and makes for a unique ceremony! Amanda, a volunteer who does the day-of coordination was awesome and very responsive and knowledgeable. You can choose any vendors you want and really make the wedding your own. Our guests loved touring the house and the beautiful gardens! And, the rental fee is used to preserve the house. Would highly recommend,
Awesome option, but make sure you understand what the house is -- and isn't.
We found the Loring-Greenough House when doing Google searches for "inexpensive Boston wedding venues." That's a pretty sad search, but thankfully we found the LGH early in the process and booked immediately. We were looking for a distinctive, inexpensive, and DIY-friendly venue, and the LGH hit all marks.
In terms of the look, environment, and flexibility, the LGH is an incredible value. This is not a full service venue where they'll take care of everything for you, but if all you're looking for is an awesome space in Boston at an affordable price, this is tough to beat.
The LGH staff was friendly and flexible in the planning stage, and were cool and calm day-of. Our guests raved about the wedding, and in general it came off as a far more swanky and expensive party than it really was. The house itself is gorgeous and makes for a fantastic photo backdrop.
Overall we're thrilled with the way it came out. This is not the venue for everyone, but if you're OK to organize most details yourself (or are hiring a coordinator to do this), I'm positive this is as good as Boston wedding venues gets.
