It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. No bride ever wants to have a bad experience, but I was really hoping that everything with Jazmyn would work out. There are a n...
umber of points I will highlight in this review, but there are also a few common themes: communication, timeliness, organization, and attention to detail. I found Jazmyn lacking in all of these areas.
During the time I coordinated with Jazmyn, there were a number of occasions where I felt the need to email her twice after not hearing back from her. In some cases, I never heard back from her. While we were working on the timeline and layout, she would tell me when to expect revised versions. And then that deadline would pass with no word from her. This also ties to communication – if you tell me to expect something at a certain time and it’s not ready, let me know that it’s not ready and provide a new deadline.
There were also several things that just didn’t get done. I had told Jazmyn how I wanted the tables set – knife, salad fork, dinner fork. Only the knife and dinner fork made it on the table. I had asked her to update the transportation company on the timeline. When the company sent me the final itinerary two days before, the change hadn’t been made. I had told her how many guests were seated at each table so that extra place settings weren’t put out. Each table was set for 8 people, even though only half of my tables had 8 people.
The timeline she put together for my day had her and her assistant arriving at the venue at 1pm. When we arrived at the venue at 2.30, the cocktail hour area was not set up. Guests were arriving in an hour. Seeing the state, my mom and several others began helping her set up. While I wasn’t there, I was told that Jazmyn didn’t say anything to the folks helping – not a “thank you,” not a “don’t worry, we got this.” My mom should have been in the room with me before my wedding, not helping my planner do her job.
I can only imagine how difficult being a wedding coordinator must be. It requires dealing with lots of stressed out people and long days. However, I would hope that someone who goes into wedding coordinating is excited about the work they do. I didn’t get this impression from Jazmyn. My wedding was over a month ago and I didn’t receive any follow-up from her. I have received a number of hand-written and emailed thank-you’s from my other vendors, but not a word from Jazmyn.
As I mentioned at the start, no bride wants to write a bad review. And while, in the grand scheme of things, none of these issues were “make-or-break” they are still upsetting. My fiancé and I spent 18 months planning this day and to feel that our coordinator didn't respect the time, effort, and money that was put into it is disappointing. If you are on the hunt for a coordinator, look elsewhere.
They sorted everything out, but sometimes I felt like if I didn't pay attention to the numbers they might get out of hand....
